- Last month on the website CNNGO.com, an insider's guide to traveling in Asia, it published the story, which is quoted "World's 50 best foods", and out of 50 they were Thai dishes that were included. The number 1 Massaman Curry, the number 8 Tom yum goong and No. 19 Nam tok moo. Today, the Tourism Authority of Thailand is enlighten to provide you with cooking demonstration of how to cook the number one of the world's 50 best food, Massaman Curry or what we, Thai, called Kang Massaman from right inside your house.

The first time I tried this, my palette had its mind blown. This is absolutely my favorite food. Beating even my love of pad Thai.
Yeah, I have tried all sorts of curries and thai/indian foods, but massaman curry is something magical. On a whole another plane.

Mm. Different to how my Thai friend from Issan cooks massaman gai. I have never seen chicken joints served - always has been breast of chicken cut into smaller pieces. Most Thais I know would use the pre-prepared pastes available either at the market sold by weight or bought in foil lined packets from Big C etc. However, like other dishes, there are many ways to cook and serve this - still delicious.

The ingredients are quite confusing. The items are shown too quickly. Nutmeg being labeled as cumin seeds. So is cumin used or not? And where is the zest of kaffir limes or lime leaves? How much chicken for the spice blend made? Why is the dessicated coconut roasted only when it should have been pounded after roasting to create a coconut paste? Why is vinegar used in Thai cooking when you already have tamarind? I have more questions after seeing this videos than answers. And to think that Thai authorities made this.

Hey Gooner_gun - the vid is a bit confusing in the ingredients section. The image for cumin seeds is actually nutmeg. Any chance you could itemize the total ingredients and amounts in a short recipe or something? Really like to try this dish.
