RUSSIA could destroy UKRAINE the first day. Ukraine did had missile DEFENSE DEPLOYMENT (Patriot or IRON DOMB) that hit the missile but the warhead fell and destroyed the fascade of a Civilian apartment building.
Mostly used on ships with auto tracking for pretty close in. Notice in a game they never run out of ammo those CIWS ( close in weapons systems )and phalanx systems do 4000s a min
I didnt read the title fully and was just sitting there wondering if they had increased the helix magazine to hold more ammo or something. I worked on these years back. It is also a CIWS not C -RAM. The ram is missiles. This was a very cool video regardless
If we have spent good money on this, I'm not impressed. I would hope that such a weapon would only be used at very close range, against low flying targets or boats. I hope the C-RAM is more effective in the real world, otherwise I wouldn't want to depend on this system. How much would all that CWIS ammo cost, anyway?
@@michaellong9066 I am unaware of the actual cost of ammo but I know how much it can consume before reload. They aren't cheap and the target wouldn't even be shot at unless manually fired upon or target is inbound directly toward the mount. @@michaellong9066 yeah, after a year or so of cleaning it and seeing it in action here and there it has its moments of flare. But then you have to clean it and that alone can take a day or two. If you want to be slightly more impressed I would check out the goal keeper. It's the CIWS with 2-8 barrels and much more ammo to have fun with
You would think the C-Ram would have limits set, or at least an AA mode, to avoid striking ground targets, especially your own. The hit to rounds fired ratio is abysmal, especially in the case of that MiG. I saw numerous hits throughout the course of the video, but only a minute fraction of the rounds expended struck the target. That MiG pilot was a rock star though! Speaking of rounds expended... what's the magazine capacity of one of those things? (Real life, not Hollywood!) One can't help but wonder where all those misses go.
This looks very much like a sim rather than true footage. The explosions do not look like what a real ground attack rocket explosion, for example and the smoke does not seem to linger like they do in real life. Also the people must be moving at hyperspace to get out of the helicopters so quickly. I could be wrong but it just isn't "real" looking.
No ammo was wasted, it was a simulation. In actual use the system doesn't fire continuously like that, only when it has a lock. Also, keep in mind, that for every tracer you see, there are five other projectiles following it. They aren't going to let you see just how accurate these systems truly are!
You install 4 of these then, much cheaper than planes. In reality, these point-defense system has little chance of hitting an actual fighter jet, mostly because jets don't usually come down into gun range for them. It could intercept a missile or two though.

Just to clear up: phalanx type systems are rarely used in this manner. This is fantasy dual map....not real. Normaly for a defence like this u would use AA flak type weapons
"Flak type" weapons aren't used anymore, at least by militaries with modern equipment. When referring to flak, its commonly understood to mean large caliber antiair guns like the 128mm flak 40. Today It's either missiles or radar guided AA that fire smaller rounds as seen in this video. Oversized anti air guns as was common decades ago have become obsolete as smaller radar guided munitions replaced them.
@@Merticular not true. And the surface to air systems commonly use a shapnel granade like effect (aka FLAK). AA guns are still common as shown in Iraq but are used in interlacing fashion to get an 'iron curtain' effect. If you are so dimwitted to think i mendt 'flak cannon 88's from WW2....thats on you.
@@crabtrap i did say "modern militaries with modern equipment"... I wouldn't call Iraq a modern military. A lot of their equipment is outdated. They have anti aircraft guns from the 1960s for Christ sakes and still use cold war era infantry weapons. Their most modern equipment has been donated by other nations. Also, I didn't insult you, don't know why you're insulting me.
@@Merticular again, as there is no context for this fantasy video. The loin share of countries would use conventional AA as its cost effective. My post was to stop the 'thats alot of wasted ammo!' Comments. This type of system is used for linear threats like rockets/cruise missles, typiclly not evasive aircraft. They do however use them in linked systems for wall of steel defense of ship armadas.
First off, understand that this is a computerized simulation. I counted a total of 186 seconds of sustained fire. At 75 rounds per second, that's almost 14,000 rounds being expended at this one fighter. Meantime the pilot (with balls of depleted uranium) was running circles around this gun. Either he is incredibly stupid to expose himself to fire, or incredibly brave. The gun itself, if in real life, would've shot and melted it's barrel off after maybe 30 seconds tops. Further, even the newest Phalanx system does not hold a capacity more than 1,550 rounds. That's only 20 seconds of sustained fire. The gun depicted here is a complete failure, in that it failed to track and lead the target, and only succeeding after 185 seconds.
Добавлю. C-RAM по идее (в реальности) должен вести стрельбу очередями для того, чтобы стволы не нагревались, а в видеоигре просто зажал кнопку. Да и лётчик уже после первого попадания сразу бы отвернул на аэродром.
There seems to be an aiming problem at first. 20mm is not cheap and at those burst rates, your barrels are near melting. Manually, planes and helicopters can be hit. Could be jamming. It got fixed at the end.

Do you know how many countries use Russian Migs? What’s laughable here, is you think your smarter then everyone else, but you made a comment arguably as ignorant.

They are doing this on purpose to show the C-RAM tracers. ARMA 3 combat is the most realistic out of any game.

Whoever had their finger on the trigger sucked balls. Have had to be at least 30 mm Cannon, or even a 20 mm should have shot it out of the sky in the first burst. This guy is either practicing or 10 years old, or is on the side of the Russians
I was going to ask if that hit % was computer standard. Makes sense there were a few missed that should have been a kill shot right??? Like the first 12 o’clock high dive around 3:40?
Idk I’m just a keyboard warrior, no combat experience.
Erm, You know that’s a simulator right?
LOL true. Also I doubt the real Vulcan has such a big magazine, that seems to go on for over a minute. Probably 10 seconds is all you get on full automatic (guessing).

I think it’s all cgi.. the first few bursts should’ve forced any plane to the ground and it looks fake
Seems like conventional anti-aircraft machine guns don't hit enemy aircraft very well. I wonder if anti-aircraft missiles are more reliable in shooting them down.

So not one plane, in all these videos, has a missile to take out the C-Ram...?
C-ram would actually be more effective against a jet since it is fire and forget homing missiles.
@@connorstevens3012 Thanks. In years gone by, I used to be quite impressed with the CWIS ; not so much anymore.
(Real life, not Hollywood!)

This looks very much like a sim rather than true footage. The explosions do not look like what a real ground attack rocket explosion, for example and the smoke does not seem to linger like they do in real life.
