      If you're a casual gamer who's not really interested in the next gen games and the next gen rigs and what you value most is affordability right now, then go with the 10400( assuming the 10400 build is either priced lower or similar to a 3600 build obviously :) )

    I know that comparing PCs to consoles is apples to oranges, but let me ask my question this way: for games that are coming out in the next little while for both PC and PS5/ X-Box, would this setup on PC give equal, better, or worse performance than the consoles?

      @@ulknown1512 thanks. Responses from various people have been pretty mixed, ranging from "worse" through "better at 1080p, equal at 4k" all the way up to "better in most cases."
      I have seen some videos showing games like Cyberpunk on this setup and it looks better than the PS5 version, though that could be for a couple of reasons, I suppose, so it may not be the best guide.
      So far, opinions are about 50-50 between better and worse.

    • @ulknown1512
      @ulknown1512 3 года назад +1

      @@craigwilliams9279 Well it's hard to compare a pc to a ps5. The ps5 will be comparable to a 1060 in one game and perform better than a 2070 super in another.
      Also consoles automatically pick the graphic settings unlike a pc so the games will always be running at a balance of performance and looks.
      Another thing is ps5 has more vram (16gb) although it is shared between cpu & gpu. This means a ps5 will probably perform better at 4k.
      I take back what I said now. In my opinion a 1660 super will probably perform better in some games and worse in others. I recommend getting a pc, as it can do many other things rather than gaming.

I can always try to upgrade a bit later on when things aren't so expensive.
      I just wanted to have a rough idea of how good it would be and how well it would hold up over the next little while. But I guess one advantage is that it should be able to play games made for the new consoles, even if it has to play on lower settings.

      its not getting constant 60+ fps on the demanding games because its being tested at 1080p ultra or high. Overall this GPU is still the perfect choice for 1080p high 60+ fps because they can deliver those fps in most games, its just that a few games they will struggle to get 60+ when played at ultra/high settings.

    If it can run Ark on High settings at 60 FPS; it's a good pc. Not the greatest elite pc, but damn good for anyone that is on a budget. Ark is a whole other level of graphics compared to many of the games in this list, since the environment is highly interactive and cluttered (modern survival simulation games tend to be like this).

      Wtf has vram to do with the power usage of the gpu?

    • @TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou
      @TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou 3 года назад

      vram really only has to do with handling texture quality ect. As you increase the resolution and graphical settings the vram usage will increase. It doesn't have anything to do with how much power the GPU is using. A lot of games that are still pretty popular cant max the vram though a lot of newer games can easily max it but it is a more economical graphics card and its a pretty good value for 1080p gaming and some 1440p gaming.

    • @TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou
      @TheFrogInYourClosetWatchingYou 3 года назад

      It will play most games at 1440p and get around 60fps but you may not be able to crank the settings to max on some of the newer more demanding games. But its a respectable 1080p card that can do some 1440p gaming but dont expect 4k out of it. Id get at least a 2080ti if you want to do 4k gaming.
      Also for 1440p gaming id recommend trying to get a 2070 even though its more expensive it will be much more enjoyable and will be able to handle future releases at 1440p for some time versus the 1660 super that will struggle with future releases at 1440p
      but its definitely not worth buying a 4k monitor for a 1660 super. If you dont plan on getting a 2080ti or better within the next few years id just stick with a 1440p 144hz monitor
