    Those Nespresso pods work out at about £85 a kilo for coffee. That's 9 or 10 times the cost of buying fresh ground coffee for a paper cone coffee filter (£3.50 from Amazon ) or an espresso Moka pot! If you use the paper filters the whole filter cone gets dropped cleanly into the bin for recycling. The Nespresso pods don't biodegrade either.

      I recycle my Nespresso pods. And they taste way better than musty filter coffee!

    Thanks for the video, Peter. I have converted our 2014 Renault Trafic LWB van into a "Touring Van". Have a nice day.

    Useful and quality video 👍 With a payload of just over 400kg, transporting 5 passengers means no luggage or water whatsoever. I like these vans but the inability to store a bike or anything else bulky inside the van, overnight, means I went for something bigger

    Re front double seat: most vans are built like that. There are independent firms producing crash-tested replacement hinges & brackets that provide a more comfortable angle or a recline function.

    Very informative video, thank you. Did you match your Reimo seat upholstery with your Renault seats at the front? Looks very nice. I'm looking at a Rib bed with the T6.1 bricks fabric. Lovely seat, but I'm so reluctant to change my Renault seats up front to match the Rib. Decisions eh? Thanks again.

    Interesting to hear your comments about the finish and reliability. These vans are thrown together in Sevel, Spain, for 3 branded and very similar vans from Vauxhall, Nissan and Renault. Imho the Vauxhall dealers are useless, the Nissan parts & servicing costs horrendous, and Renault give a better all-round service.

    • @peterrosenthal3534
      @peterrosenthal3534  3 года назад

      The Renault Trafic, Nissan NV400 and Fiat Talento are made in Sandouville in France. The Fiat Ducato (built by Sevel - a company not a place - that's where the confusion lies) is made in Italy at the Sevel Sud plant. The Vauxhall Vivaro is built in Luton.

    You really threw money on that camper £1,000 for a hob, which is a pain waiting 10 minutes to use and is impossible to simmer, that pricey fridge, sliding seat which isn't that comfortable if you need a topper. You ask why people (like me) buy a SWB is that 95% sold are SWB, so a huge price difference secondhand unless you are lucky, but I would have liked one. In my experience the Vauxhall/Opel Vivaro is a much better vehicle than the Trafic and of course the transporter which has many expensive flaws. My daughter had a new g/box in her Trafic, my Vivaro is good. The twin seat is better if you have a dog, it take 30 seconds to swivel. The Vivaro is well finished up front. I bought my 08 Vivaro for £3200 8 years ago and kitting out for £1k including swivel base, so a big difference. In 8 years I new gear select gate £40 , new handbrake cables and 2 brake discs that's it. Vivaro the best van of ALL!!! Great to drive, cheap to run and 40mpg, 300+ nights and 60,000miles on, my only regret, not to find a LWB. Plus the Vivaro is least cool camper, I admit.

    Looks good but we need a different layout without that big bulky seat that takes up all the room. Every man and his dog seems to have that layout ! Nice choice of van though

    • @peterrosenthal3534
      @peterrosenthal3534  3 года назад +1

      Having tested all sorts of layouts, this is the one that works best - hence it's so widely used. With limited space it's always a compromise. And bigger motorhomes are far harder to live with day to day.

    I looked at buying a Mercedes Vito, but they are Spanish built and no better than a Ford or Sevel van. I've seen many Mercedes Vitos rusted like Italian cars. I can't speak for the new models under new management, but at best they are overpriced.
    A very good vid. Thanks for making it. Some excellent design tips there.
    Did you actually convert your van personally, or was it done by a convertor?

    Your comment about short vs long in Minute 2: I do not understand why anyone would get a long flat top. If its too long to use in a parking garage anyway why waste the roof space of a taller van?

    How does a Toyota Proace Verso with long wheelbase (5.30 mts) compare with your Renault size wise. If one was to buy a Toyota described above, could it be converted to similar specs and features like your Renault campervan on a budget of say 25000 pounds.Keen to know a ball park figure for a conversion similar to yours.

    The van looks great although I'm not a fan of Rock'nRoll beds as they seam to be the norm in VW T5/T6 etc. Great colour match of van and race car.
    I've just finished doing a Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive LWB conversion, my first van ever. I went with side sofa/bed. I also have the double seat swivel, but I find it moves quite easily.
    If you get a chance to view my short review video, what price would you put on it?

      The Trafic 3 is out now. You can get a pre-registered delivery mileage Automatic for £20k to £25k depending on model. The top of the range Black edition is lavishly equipped and lush, if the gloom doesn't drive you to suicide first. A real GothMobile. The Sport model probably has everything one would need.

      It cost around £35,000 to build and does around 40mpg on a run. A bit less when towing.

    Hi again Karljust lost the request for you to contact me back as I have a disabled passenger set up in my VW Caddy & instead of part exchanging it for another already made up campervan like you have just shown us all, very good by the way, would you kindly advise if it is better to change everything ie the hydralics for the loading of a passenger wheelchair & go with someone like yourself to dec everything out in my van? I have to know if this will be financially viable at the same time. How can I contact you as I really want the van very soon for living in whilst I sort out my house that I am waitng to buy. This would be good to fill up the accommodation problem now as well as using the van in the future for hols!
    Your help & advice would be appreciated! Hope to hear from you perhaps a phone number or email address?
