    Spot on it's a totally flawed system on these and JLR are well aware of it, Why people buy these is absolutely beyond me.

      We went to our local LR dealer to buy one but after talking to a couple of my motor trade friends they told me to save my money as it will be in the LR workshop more times than on the road, Needless to say I did not buy it and how glad am I.

    The advice I've read re JLR is if you must have one buy new and get rid before the warranty runs out and never buy used.

    Well explained, I tell my customers who own a modern diesel to go for a decent run out every now and again to help clear the exhaust system as plodding around town is no good for them at all especially as the car etc gets older.

    I had a Discovery Sport. As well as DPF issues I also had a nightmare with oil dilution (2 litres of diesel in the sump after just 4000 miles and very few town miles). No wonder they’re trying to go EV so quickly, their diesel engines are shot! Thankfully it’s now gone 😅

    To be clear , the cracked / holed dpf will be allowing soot into the **low pressure** egr system, which contains the filter and fine cored cooler,, which then feeds back into the inlet of the turbo. Its not designed to recycle sooty exhaust gas, and they will block and give a low flow code as a secondary result of driving the car with a cracked or holed dpf. There is also a high pressure, conve tional style of egr system also fitted.

    • @AlfredTheGreatKingOfWessex
      @AlfredTheGreatKingOfWessex Год назад

      How could soot travel anyway when the cooler filter is completely blocked?

    • @timbo19751975
      @timbo19751975 Год назад

      @@AlfredTheGreatKingOfWessex it doesnt - which is why you get the EGR low-flow fault code.

      @timbo19751975 So you could say it's a proper diesel now? Exhaust shooting black soot, and EGR is not functional.

      Unfortunately you cant do this on vehicles with a low pressure egr system that rely on clean, non sooty exhaust gases to work.

    Hi I run my finger in the exhaust and it gets blacks as in the Rover. I got an MB with DPF and a P2626 code that says Soot content too High for regeneration. I also got a by passed 02 sensor. Gotta check the car with a mechanic in a few days.

    When you have finished a clean on a dpf and you tell the ecu that the dpf has been replaced. What does that achieve? Does it have to recalculate the ash that isnt removed? If you do the clean but don't tell the ecu the dpf has been replaced what would happen? Thanks. Love the videos

    Hi! Thanks for the info. I have the Jaguar version of this AMZING system. I run my finger on the exhaust and it’s wet and just a little black. It’s nowhere near as dark as yours. Could I still have a problem with the DPF?

      Because they are cheap to run, tax and insure and are excellent for overtaking slow moving traffic on our congested A roads. I think if you are doing big miles a Diesel makes more sense than a petrol but if you are not then stick to petrol.
