Speaking of cedars, although it's not a true cedar wood, Western Red cedar is my personal favorite. It has a dark, fruity and resinous character to it. It'll make you think you've stepped outside and the rocky mountains are in the background. Beautiful stuff!
No, I absolutely would not. I just would not ever. What blends a formula is movement and/or time. Honestly the cold would prevent movement and take it much longer to come together as one. Some people put their formula in a beaker with a stirring rod, This is the movement I am talking about. Dave
As a newbie for fragrance creation, I'm so lucky to found your channel, it's absolutelt gem!! I have question. If i have 3 note fragrance, let say Bergamot Essence Oil at top, Cinnamon Essence Oil as mid, and Sandalwood Essence Oil as base, did we need 3 fixatives that smells close to Bergamot, Cinnamon, and Sandalwood? or every other fixatives are just fine?
You could choose the sandalwood molecules that last a super long time, that would be helpful. When you use materials that have Fixative properties you don’t necessarily have to use Fixative materials. There is the difference between these two things. Fixature 505 is a fixative and patchouli essential oil has Fixative properties to it. I have created hundreds of formulas with no “Fixatives“ in the formulation. In these formulas however, there are materials that have Fixative properties that do that work. I hope this helps. Thanks, Dave
Sorry let me be a bit more specific. Do you teach on how to mortar & pestle resins such as frankincense & amber & how to get them to dissolve & spray in perfume blends without clogging the atomizer?.. I’m also interested in learning how to make natural bakhoor blends
Thank you Dave! Do natural perfumes fall under 'dermal' recommended concentrations? In other words, can I for instance put 3 ml of Jasmine Absolute in 30 ml bottle since this will be sprayed on the skin?
You will have to look up each material separately because they will all be different amounts that are acceptable to be sprayed on the skin. A 10% Jasmine Absolute perfume will be exceptionally strong, not even taking into consideration if it is safe on the skin at that amount. Naturals tend to be more restricted because they have many many more times the number of aroma chemicals in them, many of which are restricted. Dave
When you say expensive what prices are you saying. I’ve purchased essential oils naturals 100% premiums for like $5/6 or a pack of 6 for $16 or 16 for $35. Is that expensive?? I’m new doing perfumes and am learning. If there are expensive when I go into business where can I get cheaper ones?? I bought the ones I did in Amazon and Whole Foods or sprouts.
I trust Whole Foods and sprouts. There are many fake essential oils on Amazon. It totally depends on the essential oil you are speaking about. Some are not that expensive and some are expensive. Dave

Some of my tincture videos explain this. After I insured frankincense I filtered the tincture and it prevented clogging.

how do you finish your perfume when using tinctures to stop it smelling of alcohol ?
I use Perfumer‘s alcohol in my tinctures because I am using them for perfumery only. The alcohol dissipates fairly quickly. Dave
