    • @monicazaharia7174
      @monicazaharia7174 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@krissya6768 If you don’t mind the colour of the spray you don’t need to use polysorbate or glycerin . Take the alcohol and warm it up. Not boil it or it will catch fire. Is best to use a glass bottle. Pour the alcohol into the bottle then put it in in a very hot water bath but out of fire. When the alcohol from the bottle gets warm mix in essential oil. It will not be clear but you will not have any spots of sticky polisorbate 80 or glycerin left behind. Otherwise respect all the quantities from recipe,although I use water not witch hazel . You can play with water.If you don’t add enough water you will get dizzy from too much alcohol. In any case the water should not be more than alcohol to avoid the spray to spoil.

    Very informative video! Do you think there is a difference between using the sugarcane alcohol and Vetiver’s perfumer’s alcohol? Like regarding how long it should sit and how strong it will be?
    Also, can you do a reed diffuser video? Thanks!

    • @HowToLymarie
      @HowToLymarie  Год назад +3

      I’ll definitely look into a Reed diffuser video! I believe perfumer’s alcohol might be stronger and has more of a smell which is why perfume needs to sit for weeks before use. The sugarcane alcohol form Makesy doesn’t have a smell. If the perfumer’s alcohol has a strong smell then let it sit for a while.

    Hi Lymarie,
    I ‘m a little confused. You say your room spray has no preservatives but one of the ingredients is polysorbate 80.
    Polysorbate 80 is used as a preservative/ emulsifier and is not considered natural. Made from sorbitol, a natural ingredient, but it is then ethoxylated, which is not a natural process and becomes a synthetic compound

    Just found your channel on a whim today. Such a great tutorial! Thank you! 🙂Total newbie here, though, but I'm interested in the business side. Lol. When you mentioned insurance on another comment, how do I go about doing that for room sprays? Is it because of the alcohol that insurance is required? Who do you have for insurance? Would a certain type of insurance encompass both room sprays AND body products? Thanks! 😀

    • @HowToLymarie
      @HowToLymarie  Год назад +2

      Yes there are insurances that would cover both HOWEVER please note that coverage for liability for body products is expensive! I feel as if a lot of makers think they have coverage for body products specifically but they don’t. It is a separate policy from general liability. Since body products are more likely to create a problem - ingestion, irritation, allergic reactions etc - they cost more to insure.

    Great video, thank you very much! Makesy is out of everything you listed. I'm having a hard time finding those items. Do I have to use Black Seed Glycerin and Sugarcane Alcohol? Is there a different type of the two that I can use instead? I'm finding regular and vegetable glycerin, wasn't sure if it made a difference or not. I appreciate your advice, thank you.

      Vegetable glycerin will work as well. I prefer sugarcane alcohol but any denatured alcohol should work. Makesy also sells a sugarcane/witch hazel base that you can sub

      Some retailers are hit or miss on Alibaba. Always look for retailers who are verified and have the trade assurance badge. Also chat with them and ignore all of the prices listed. Let them know exactly what you’re looking for. Some can do it and some can’t. Just keep searching.

    Why do we need witch hazel if it makes it cloudy? Why not omit it altogether and only use alcohol?

    • @HowToLymarie
      @HowToLymarie  Год назад

      You can do that if you’d like. I mentioned in the video that this was also a skin friendly recipe, alcohol is very harsh on the skin which is why witch hazel was added.

    Are these safe to use in a home with a pet dog ?

    • @HowToLymarie
      @HowToLymarie  Год назад

      Yes - however it will be your fragrance that will determine pet friendliness. Check to see what fragrances are toxic to them like cinnamon, peppermint and many citrus oils are not pet friendly. Also make sure your dog doesn’t get sprayed directly by the room spray and of course that they don’t swallow any of the spray. I would not spray it where they sleep either.

      I use the flaxseed glycerin and witch hazel from Makesy. For poly 80 there’s a vegan one I get from Brambleberry.

      @@HowToLymarie Yes, it does really depend on the fragrance oil. As you mentioned,
      Some have a yellow tint or whatever. I used aluminum bottles, so, it’s never an issue for me. But, at some point, I would maybe like to do a body spray or mist. Sounds like this could be a good starting point
      For that. I love your bottles and your brand. I enjoy your videos. Thanks!

    Why doesn’t the poly 80 not cloud up like the 20?

    • @HowToLymarie
      @HowToLymarie  Год назад +1

      Poly 20 is meant to be water soluble. Poly 80 is oil soluble. Since there’s no water in this recipe Poly 20 doesn’t work. But the Poly 80 adheres to the fragrance oils, making it clear!

      Technically many things are chemicals. Alcohol is a chemical. Polysorbate 80 is vegan and is derived from vegetable oil.
