@@krissya6768 If you don’t mind the colour of the spray you don’t need to use polysorbate or glycerin . Take the alcohol and warm it up. Not boil it or it will catch fire. Is best to use a glass bottle. Pour the alcohol into the bottle then put it in in a very hot water bath but out of fire. When the alcohol from the bottle gets warm mix in essential oil. It will not be clear but you will not have any spots of sticky polisorbate 80 or glycerin left behind. Otherwise respect all the quantities from recipe, although I use water not witch hazel . You can play with water. If you don’t add enough water you will get dizzy from too much alcohol. In any case the water should not be more than alcohol to avoid the spray to spoil.
I use my air freshener with an automatic sprayer in my bathroom. I followed your recipe and after days leaves a greasy layer on the floor. Any recommendations? Thanks 😊
hi, very nice video! I love this! I also have a question, how if I use essential oil instead of fragrance liquid that you use? will the measurement change?
Great tutorial!!!! Thank you, such good information. It looks like Maskey is out of flaxseed glycerin, and I am having trouble finding it. I found organic vegetable glycerin, could I use that instead or would that change the outcome. Thank you again, you are awesome!!
this has been a very helpful video! do you know if something like this would have an expiration date after making? How long til you notice peak performance of the fragrance? 2 weeks?
I love this recipe! It was such a blessing after struggling through lots of milky recipes. I just have a question, in the bottles I am using my spray comes out more like a stream, I think it's because the thickness of the poly and the glycerin. Do you (or anyone reading) have this problem in your bottles with this recipe? I am using the capri spray bottle from Makesy. Thanks!
Thank you for the helpful tutorial. I truly appreciate it. I followed the instructions and conducted a test blend using mostly essential oils with top, middle, and base notes, plus a small amount of Scent Memory fragrance oils. However, I was told the finished product doesn't last long or isn't strong enough. Do you have any tips to enhance the scent? I'm using 2 oz bottles, so I divided (the fragrance) 0.5 oz by 2 (0.25 oz per bottle). I look forward to your advice - thanks again!
I don’t use essential oils by themselves at all. I only use fragrances from Makesy, Scent Memory or Porter Candle Supply. I would use an already made fragrance - maybe mix 2 that you like and try that. Just essential oils isn’t going to cut it. Hope that helps.

@@HowToLymarie I made the room spray exactly the way you made it. I really appreciate you. Question, can I use just the alcohol to make the smell last longer? Also do you recommend the perfumers alcohol given its a higher proof? Thanks again
I just made this with your formula and I am wondering what the shelf life is for this & will it mold? The formula came out crystal clear by the way and the scent strength is perfect!
Would love for you to explain WHY polysorbate 20 wont work but 80 will...? What is this ingredient and what's the difference? Why one over the other? Thanks.
Very informative video! Do you think there is a difference between using the sugarcane alcohol and Vetiver’s perfumer’s alcohol? Like regarding how long it should sit and how strong it will be? Also, can you do a reed diffuser video? Thanks!
I’ll definitely look into a Reed diffuser video! I believe perfumer’s alcohol might be stronger and has more of a smell which is why perfume needs to sit for weeks before use. The sugarcane alcohol form Makesy doesn’t have a smell. If the perfumer’s alcohol has a strong smell then let it sit for a while.
I came across your video today. Thank you for sharing such a clear and to the point information. One question is, do you have any videos on making body mist? I'am into soaping and is thinking of adding fragrances to my line. Please any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Excellent Video!! If I am increasing the Fragrance Load to 15%, I know I have to adjust the Poly 80 as well, would i have to decrease the Sugarcane or Witch Hazel or is it okay that they remain the same?
Hi there I made this formula and when I added the witch hazel it went cloudy - I am wondering if that is because the witch hazel I used is an extract which contains alcohol and water?
Hi Lymarie, I ‘m a little confused. You say your room spray has no preservatives but one of the ingredients is polysorbate 80. Polysorbate 80 is used as a preservative/ emulsifier and is not considered natural. Made from sorbitol, a natural ingredient, but it is then ethoxylated, which is not a natural process and becomes a synthetic compound
Thank you, this video is very i formative. But wondering why you use both witch hazel and alcohol? Also notice you don’t use distilled water..any reason why?
Using water means mold and needing a preservative. Witch hazel is gentle and alcohol is sanitary. You can use more alcohol than witch hazel if you want a more perfume like spray but I don’t use water for mold reasons.
Hello, I enjoyed watching your video. I do have a couple of questions. One is can I use over-the-counter witch hazel or alcohol? Secondly, can I use essential oil instead of fragrance oil? And lastly, I’m having trouble understanding the formula. I have 8oz spray bottles. How would I measure all the liquids in my bottle? I hope I can get your help.
Alcohol holds the fragrance. Witch hazel isn’t as harsh. Just witch hazel would make the mixture cloudy. Just alcohol would make it too harsh… like a cleaner or sanitizer

Hi, First of all, thank you for your wonderful video sharing the recipe and information. I have a question for you regarding Makesy Sugarcane Alcohol, this alcohol runs out so quickly from Makesy. Is there any other substitute to Sugarcane Alcohol?
Just found your channel on a whim today. Such a great tutorial! Thank you! 🙂Total newbie here, though, but I'm interested in the business side. Lol. When you mentioned insurance on another comment, how do I go about doing that for room sprays? Is it because of the alcohol that insurance is required? Who do you have for insurance? Would a certain type of insurance encompass both room sprays AND body products? Thanks! 😀
Yes there are insurances that would cover both HOWEVER please note that coverage for liability for body products is expensive! I feel as if a lot of makers think they have coverage for body products specifically but they don’t. It is a separate policy from general liability. Since body products are more likely to create a problem - ingestion, irritation, allergic reactions etc - they cost more to insure.
Thank you for this! Super informative. 2 questions. Can perfumers alcohol be used instead of sugarcane? And can the spray be used right away or should it sit for a few days before using?
Yes perfumers Alcohol can be used, make sure any alcohol you use is denatured. I like to let it sit. Especially with perfumer’s alcohol/ the longer it sits the better. With sugarcane alcohol you don’t have to wait weeks.
