  • I take a bus to the beautiful area of Zaanse Schans in Zaandam. The town is a great spot for a day trip from Amsterdam. There are many old and historic windmills with colorful wooden homes. Zaanse Schans is a great example of a traditional Dutch countryside village. I first check out the Wooden Shoe Workshop of Zaanse Schans and see how clogs are made. Then I enjoy a lunch at Restaurant De Kraai before I explore the cheese museum and eat free samples at Henri Willig. After that I visit the De Kat Windmill or The Cat Windmill, which had amazing views. Finally, I watch a beautiful sunset along the Zaan River.

Hi James, many tourists think that the Zaanse Schans is an old town but it has only been here for sixty years. The houses and windmills have been brought here from all over the Zaan region to preserve them for the future.

Hi Jacqueline! Absolutely! Zaanse Schans may not have as long of a history as other places in the country, but I feel like it's still a beautiful place and I really enjoyed my time there.

@Brody Pilcher It's usually pretty nice in April. Although most of the trees don't have their leaves yet, but it's also a bit outside of the typical tourist season, so attractions are usually less crowded.

Zaanse Schans is NOT a town but a neighborhood of Zaandam. Just another clickbait video full of misinformation. Rule of thumb is that if you cannot pronounce it, don't vlog about it. Same as when you can't pronounce "Parmesan", don't eat it.
