- I take a bus to the beautiful area of Zaanse Schans in Zaandam. The town is a great spot for a day trip from Amsterdam. There are many old and historic windmills with colorful wooden homes. Zaanse Schans is a great example of a traditional Dutch countryside village. I first check out the Wooden Shoe Workshop of Zaanse Schans and see how clogs are made. Then I enjoy a lunch at Restaurant De Kraai before I explore the cheese museum and eat free samples at Henri Willig. After that I visit the De Kat Windmill or The Cat Windmill, which had amazing views. Finally, I watch a beautiful sunset along the Zaan River.

About Me:
I live in NYC and I’m about food, travel and work.
This place is really a paradise . I visited there in august 2023 and it was a breathtaking. The entire tour was fantastic and see the mills in action is amazing.
Absolutely! It's so gorgeous! I would imagine that it looks even better in August than when I saw it during October.
Magical. thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks for watching! It really was a great day!
Great video! Seems like a beautiful and picturesque village! The old windmills with the colorful wooden homes and canals gives it a charm and elegant atmosphere. The wooden shoe workshop looked fascinating as well as the goat wearing a jacket.
Thank you! Yeah, it was a stunning place all around and a really great day! Although, I still wish that I was able to get a pancake. Next time though!
It is impressive that you can even go inside and see how it looks like inside!
Definitely! It was really neat!
I fell in love with ZAANSE schans while watching you experience it. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.
Thank you for watching! Zaanse Schans is truly a beautiful place!
Just lovely!
It was a beautiful place and a great trip!
Ahhh Zaanseschans I've been so beautiful I love it!! I was in d Netherlands in Feb, my sis n family lives in Zoetermeer, n my nephew lives in Amsterdam, I wish I can move there so peaceful n stress free
Nice! I agree! The Netherlands is such a beautiful country with so much to see and do! I really enjoyed my trip there as well!
Love your travel attitude. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Hi James, many tourists think that the Zaanse Schans is an old town but it has only been here for sixty years. The houses and windmills have been brought here from all over the Zaan region to preserve them for the future.
Hi Jacqueline! Absolutely! Zaanse Schans may not have as long of a history as other places in the country, but I feel like it's still a beautiful place and I really enjoyed my time there.
They have been rebuild.
Great souvenir for your Mom!
Thank you! She liked it!
thank you for this video..now i know how to get there.
Thanks for watching! I hope that you have a great time there!
That looks great out in the country…seems like a whole different way of life over there…good job my man
Thank you! Yeah, it was a beautiful place and a nice refreshing change from my typical life in NYC.
@@Jamesnu i am sure it was….I had a question about NYC and was wondering is the weather comfortable enough to visit in April or do I need to wait a little later?
@Brody Pilcher It's usually pretty nice in April. Although most of the trees don't have their leaves yet, but it's also a bit outside of the typical tourist season, so attractions are usually less crowded.
@@Jamesnu that sounds pretty good to me that way it won’t be as crowded…thanks man it won’t be long we will make it official and plan the trip
10 min, you can see my house😂. Great view from my bedroom every morning.😂
Nice!
You are so lucky❤
The Netherlands looks so beautiful. I’d love to go there someday. Sucks that you have to pay for public bathrooms though lol
Haha! Yeah, the bathroom situation was the one negative of an otherwise great day in a beautiful place! Although, I still would've liked to have gotten a pancake at that restaurant though.
Absolutely stunning village. Is cheese cake factory and wooden shoe museum all nearby walk? Seems lot of walking tour though
It's a beautiful place indeed! Actually the shoe museum and cheese place are right near each other. I did do a bit more walking to see the windmills though, but it was worth it!
Great video and mindset!
Personally I love listening to the sound of the sawmill working.
But one big thing, as Zaankanter (someone from the Zaan area) we don't like to be associated with Amsterdam
Thank you! Yeah, it's a beautiful and peaceful area and I really enjoyed it! Understood, next time, I won't make the Amsterdam association.
@@Jamesnu I'm kinda messing with you, it's not that bad, were used to it by now.
Did you know Zaandam was the first industrial city in Europe?
@tummytub1161 Haha! No worries! No, I didn't know that. With each passing day, Zaandam surprised me more and more. It really has a fascinating history!
great video
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Thanks for your video! Would you think is worth taking a guided tour to enjoy the experience? Or it's something anyone can do on their own
Thanks for watching! I don't think a guided tour is necessary. Almost everything is very close to each other and it's a very tourist friendly town.
It is touristic, but real people live there. My grandfather painted those houses and my teacher lived there when I was in school.
Nice! Yeah, it's definitely touristy, but it is very scenic and beautiful.
Can we stand in the middle of the grass with the windmills behind us? I’m trying to plan a family picture.
I think so. I saw others do it.
Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thanks for watching!
nice view..
Indeed! Thanks for watching!
Was there today. The place is surrounded by big industrial buildings! Not so pretty but interesting and 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam centraal.
Yeah, it's definitely easy to get to from Amsterdam.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Wish I knew about this place when I was in AMS last year. Gives me another reason to visit AMS again though. Is it easy to walk around and get to those spots with less people?
Yeah, it was probably good that I went when it wasn't prime tourist season since I bet it could be pretty crowded.
Thank uou for the video ..how long the trip from.cebtral station.in armterdam to zaanes chanz by train or by bus..
? Thank you
Thanks for watching! The trains from Amsterdam Centraal vary in time, but it could take as little as 17 minutes to get there, but there's a bit of a walk from the Zaanse Schans station. The bus is a bit more direct.
Okey..not bad ..thank you very much for taking a time to response
Nice ✨🌷✨🌷😍
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
A question what app you use to edit your video?
I use Adobe Premiere and sometimes Adobe Premiere Rush for shorter videos.
Their close time is 5pm or 6pm? And Washrooms needs to pay to use? That is pretty European.
Yeah, especially in a very touristy place like this.
James- total superb , wanna a promotion?! =))
Thank you!
If I have to choose one place out of gienthoorn and ZAANSE SCHANS. Which one should I choose?
I never went to Gienthoorn, but it does look pretty amazing! I would say if you're coming from Amsterdam, I would go to Zaanse Schans just because it's very easy to get to, but if time and distance isn't an issue, I would probably go to Gienthoorn.
@@Jamesnu thank you for the recommendation. I got my answer.
Instead of paying for a washroom just go Dutch and go in the canal.
Haha! I'll remember that for next time!
@@Jamesnu Don't. The fine is 140 Euro's. Not kidding
Just American will give comments like that
Thanks for watching!
When you visit Kinderdijk before going to Zaanse Schans, you realize that Zaanse Schans is not all that. If you are in Amsterdam, take courage and go to Kinderdijk. That's the place to see real windmills. No offense to the video.
Indeed. I just wish I had more time for a visit.
Zaanse Schans is NOT a town but a neighborhood of Zaandam. Just another clickbait video full of misinformation. Rule of thumb is that if you cannot pronounce it, don't vlog about it. Same as when you can't pronounce "Parmesan", don't eat it.
