Hey y'all! It's been awhile, but I was finally able to get something done. This is me singing "Corner of the Sky" from the musical Pippin. I hope you enjoy it!
Quite impressive, Barry! This is definitely several cuts above most of these RUclips "personal" postings. Your intonation is fabulous. Best of luck to you.... [p.s. Be sure you don't cheat on your "final consonants"... Impeccable diction is always part of the formula for success :) ....]
Thia is such a beautiful song. Why is it always performed on Broadway by people who can't sing? John Rubenstein...William Katt...it becomes painful. You do the song justice. A dear friend of mine used it to sing it beautifully. He sadly passed away during the beginning of the A.I.D.S. epidemic. Your version brings tears to my eyes for many reasons. Thanks so much
Hey man, I have no clue what you're doing now, but I really hope you've pursued or at least tried to pursue your dream. If that means Broadway or at least some theater near you that pays, I really hope you've gotten it. Your voice deserves to be on the big screen or the big stage, or somewhere! You're fantastic! The passion you have in your voice, the controlled vibratos, everything is honestly fantastic. Kudos to you, make sure that you keep believing. But what do I know, I'm only a sixteen year old theatre school student... i guess I have to find my corner of the sky, but I hope you've found yours! Amazing breath support btw!
I really appreciate the comment, man! :) I haven't been doing too much theatre-wise (I never tried actively pursuing it due to where I was at vocally and acting-wise when I had to make college decisions and all that), but I try to find opportunities wherever I go, cause I totally miss doing it as much as I did in school! If it's something you're passionate about though, definitely go for it! I just watched your Ben Platt cover and you've got some awesome talent yourself! I regret not taking more of a chance when I was younger, so take any chance you're given, especially if theatre is something you love to do! You've got time, and the skills to take it to the next level! :D
I'm back after a year to listen to this song again. I've heard quite a few versions of this song and I really think you kick it out of the park. Probably my most favorite take on the song, to be honest. One thing, watch out for "godda find my corner". It sounds so much more refined to sing "got to find my corner" or "gotta find my corner". You're well on your way to becoming a master singer. Bravo, young man.
This is a really nice cover, especially given Hochman's brilliant but non-helpful arrangement. Aside from a few quick iffy pitches, you really nailed it, especially the high C In the end.
Excellent phrasing and you completely captured the spirit of the song. The high C at the end of the song is beautiful but needs to be just a little bit louder. If you bring your mouth closer to the mic, you've nailed it. Beautiful finish. This should be your "go to" audition song. You've got talent!
Did you use a Karoke track or just use your recording go over the original song? If you used a Karoke track would you mind telling me where you got it?
Everything has its season Everything has its time Show me a reason and I'll soon show you a rhyme Cats fit on the windowsill Children fit in the snow Why do I feel I don't fit in anywhere I go? Rivers belong where they can ramble Eagles belong where they can fly I've got to be where my spirit can run free Got to find my corner of the sky
You have a really nice voice, but be careful of jutting your head forward, especially on high notes. That's a lot of undue tension and in a song this high, that'll only lead to bad things
Oh my goodness you have the clearest tone I think I've ever heard. That was honestly brilliant!
Absolutely superb tone and phrasing!! I enjoyed this immensely.
This is SO well done. Nice track to sing along with, as well.
Great tenor voice!
Excellent!! Beautiful voice with perfect emotional expression! Good work!!
That was a great performance, Barry! We wish to hear more from you.
Just brilliant! Just brilliant singing!
Totally wonderful. Gave me goosebumps.

Barry, have been following you for awhile, we have similar voice sounds. Love your version!
Really good! Hope I will see you in a broadway musical one day:)
Great job on the song. It's one of my favorites to perform at karaoke.

Nice job. Sold it well.

Actually, the new cast album has the karaoke track included with it!
People who disliked this video obviously don’t have this range
Hold on. Wheres the operatic voice? JK. DIS IS AWSUM

Justin Cook I know this comment is almost a year old but I'm pretty sure it's in C
Nice..
I’m going to do an audition for Pipin wish me luck
こんな風に歌いたいなー
lovely voice... interpretation... but why profile.. on?
I think you actually went a bit flat towards the end. Don't get me wrong, this is still a great version, but I think the comments are overpraising you
Wish I was a tenor and not a Bass
You have a really nice voice, but be careful of jutting your head forward, especially on high notes. That's a lot of undue tension and in a song this high, that'll only lead to bad things
Ok I'm better
He's not on tune
He is
You are lip syncing to yourself or to someone else. Can you post an authentic version?
Cotronixco the audio just isn't synced perfectly. Happens on youtube a lot.
Christian Eggers You are incorrect. Even when I delay the video, it doesn't line up.
+Cotronixco Try a new computer? It is perfect on my screen.
+moseycat100 Try a different viewer.
Beautiful!
