shake the steeldive its all clattling clang, shake the san martin completely different. plus which one feels amazing in your hand? just because its made by the same steel doesn't mean they are the same,
Come on bud, you can't compare a tudor homage to a rolex homage. The real comparison is the SM to a real Tudor. 5-6k vs $200. Is a real one worth it, not in my opinion. Same for the 1953s, compared to a real rolex, no way. And, at the end of the day, most of us just like the look, could not care less about the brand. However, quality matters. SM and SD offer that with no $1000 service fees. If our NH35s stop working, $30 bucks and your back in business. BTW, the SM bracelet is a pretty big deal. That is a genius and easy adjust.
I agree with what you're saying. The only reason I compared it to the Steeldive is whether the cost of the San Martin is justified compared to other chinese brands like Steeldive. I was real hesitant to spend $200 on a Chinese brand. I agree the SM fit and finish is definitely more premium than my SD1953 but is it worth 4x the price? Steeldive now offers a "glidelock" quick adjust clasp. With that being said, this probably won't be my last SM. I'm eyeing the SN0008 BB58 in black.
Just picked up a titanium one for 220. Thought this was titanium and was about to be upset i paid more. Cheers
I kind of wish I had purchased the titanium but it was $240USD at the time.
My San Martins are better finished than similarly priced Seikos, Citizens and Orients.
No argument there....it's definitely a nice watch!
Not constantly unfortunately.
