A layout many of us would like to build. I grew up in Burbank, 1950s-70s, this layout is a very fine representation of Burbank Junction and the San Fernando Valley in general. Fine job by Bruce. Long Live the Espee !!!
My favorite model train video because me great grandfather worked with SP but I never met him from passing from asbestos cancer. before I was born even before my dad was born but I always ask my great grandmother and grandmother on the stories of when he worked on SP
Marvelous layout!!! Anything Espee gets a thumbs up from me if done this well. I especially like the Lockheed Plant and back drop. One of the cars has a nasty squeak....better stop the train and check for a hot box. LOL
i knew this layout in an anual issue of model railroads, then i looked for videos and found some here, and now this, it is for me a perfect balance compromise of a prototype model railroad in a compact space, but it captures perfectly the atmosphere, of a busy railroad junction, also the backdrops reflect an ilusion of glow, with the colors of the mountains, brillant, regards from argentina
Hello Marcelo, what part of Argentina ? I was very fortunate to visit in 1990 and ride the Patagonia Express ! I agree 100%. It is a perfect layout for the prototype. When you are there in person, it is even better. The backdrop painting really gives the illusion of vast space, and the scenery is detailed and pleasing to the eye. Always most enjoyable to visit Bruce and his terrific railroad. Felix
@@RailwayWorld hello, felix iam from bsas, and ride the jacobacci, esquel, in january 1990 too,i spent and still now scratchbuilding argentina models in h0 scale, but also iam a big fan of the western usa railroads in the late 60s and early 70s, so iam detailing some sd45 for the sp, and the atsf, also want to upgrade old blue box athearn, f45, and fp 45, to have a little batch of the common lash ups of that era,
This is a stunning layout that Bruce made. So much detail! I am building a layout myself and I got some ideas from this video on how to do the back drop scenery. Neat equipment featured on the layout too, I love the passenger train. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you liked it. Bruce did a fantastic job, always a joy to visit. I too find his backdrops especially well done, hand painted himself. I believe there was an article published in Model Railroader some years ago on his method.
Thanks, It's a great layout and lots of fun to watch the trains roll by, Bruce did a great job. If I remember correctly the layout is about 16' x 9', with a small extension to the truck trailer flatcar sidings. The widest point of the layout is only 20" and the layout is built in 4' sections with just 1x2s, mounted on wall brackets, no legs sticking out.
Beautiful SP and SoCal layout portrays the bygone days of a great empire and simple life! Mike

This is a fascinating layout! I remember the SP locomotives as a kid in El Monte, CA in the 60's. Evokes so many emotions. Outstanding job! Thanks.

This was amazing! The two that gave this video a thumbs down are weirdos.

This is a great train layout nice
The hoppers at 7:43 look like Tyco hoppers someone changed into some of the coolest rolling stock on the layout.

About 21 feet long and 9 feet wide. It sits on shelf brackets 52 inches from the floor to track height. Bruce
Do any of your trains have a trainsounds in them
