I'm getting the sense that it's quite difficult to make a home of this size with sliding walls and all, that can handle the stress of being towed all over the place. It's asking a lot of rather lightweight walls and framing. Or at least to get it right every time, the builder costs/hours would be much higher, and materials of a heavier weight/strength, which could cause issues towing. Up until recently I'd rather travel using AirBnbs which we use all over the world, until the cleaning fees and all shot way up. Sadly now budget travelling has gotten real difficult.

NHTSA would be limited to issues on the truck end of the RV such as class B/ class A/ Super C powertrain and chassis. They are not involved with the " home end" of the build. That falls mostly on States Attorney Generals Offices consumer protection divisions. Most are built in Indiana, so good luck with an AG receiving RV industry campaign support.

If they get a mold test, make sure it is a suspended particle test. They use a special device that sucks in air into a special filter. That filter is sealed and sent to a laboratory for testing the mold test that you get at Home Depot is only good if a piece of mold just happens to fall onto the dish. Also make sure they take a battery powered leaf blower and blow into the air conditioning ducks to loosen up any possible mold do that all the nooks and crannies as well. The air circulating in the RV at least 24 hours prior to the test, this way you’ll ensure you have a good outcome whether it be positive or negative. I have first hand knowledge of having the old test done in my apartment and it tested positive for mold.

I was concerned when I saw the wheel bearing issue that they are having. This is a safety concern that shoulld be addressed before towing the trailer to a new location. Also, if one wheel is like that, what about the other wheels? Even if it is as simple as having a wheel seize up while on the road, it would not be an easy or cheap fix. If I was in this situation., I would seriously consider having the trailer inspected before moving it from it's current location. Hopefully the inspection will identify any safety issues that are present so that they can be fixed as soon as possible and to provide a comprehensive list of everything that needs to be fixed. They can then use this document to show proof to the vendor that such problems actually exist.

Part of the issue is that they put such garbage axles on most of these. Even the best ones are supposed to be serviced every 12,000 miles or so. They don't exactly emphasize it, but if you don't have it done, it can void your warranty.

Being in the Automotive sector I feel the best thing for Forest River would be to "Trade/Upgrade" the couple's "Problem Plagued" unit with an Upgraded new unit from Forest River. This would show Forest River stands behind their product and is confident of their product. This would also keep the couple within the Forest River "Family". Can you imagine if the trade/upgrade happened? Not only would you, Liz talk about it so would the couple to all the Friends/Family and people they come in contact with at the campgrounds.... This happens all the time with the OEMs of cars/trucks, so why not with Campers/RV's? When will RV manufacturers going to get with the times?

My 1976 Coachmen Cadet 20 footer was 13 years old in 1989. I LIVED in it 3.5 years. No problems at all. No leaks, no floor issues. I did not maintain it either. I kept it clean in and out but didn't know what to maintain. The person who bought it moved it to a lake and lived in it for many years. I think it had crappy materials too. Not sure why mine was so good but I loved it. I loved the floorplan too. If they made it today I would buy it again.

Just fixing the floor alone would require welding ribs from one side of the frame to the other. The manufacturer and/or dealer aren’t going to do that.
A Buy Back is the only solution,

I spend the winter months in south Nevada in an RV resort of roughly 350 units, plus park models. We know quite a few folks with new rigs being 5th wheel or bumper pull and seriously all they ever talk about is the new issue with their rig, while we sit in our 2009 Country Coach Motorhome with no major issues for years. Certainly not to say that issues don’t come about from time to time. I guess my point is build quality is not what it once was. We did our time with new 5th wheels and got tired of waiting months to get our rig back from having warranty work done.

We RVers need to just get together and come up with a class action lawsuit...it's very disappointing how quality has gone downhill in the RV Industry and the prices continue to go up. Buyer Beware, if you do buy an RV have it inspected prior to purchasing. If the dealership doesn't agree to an outside party inspecting the RV...don't purchase an RV from that dealership. Keep in mind , the more creature comforts you have, the more issues you may have. With that being said, try renting different RV's prior to purchasing, because you will experience your likes, dislikes, needs, comfort, and most important...Reliability.
Love this RUclips channel, great jobs keeping us RVers informed about what is happening in the RV Industry.

There are no such thing as building codes, or a code inspector, for RV's. They are slapped together and rely on the dealerships to fix the low quality assembly. Speed and profit is the ultimate goal at the manufactures.

I feel this manufacturer should at the very least offer two choices:
    1. Full refund for the complete unit plus refund for payments made to-date or...
    2. Replacement unit with credit for payments made to date
My heart goes out to Richard and Andrea along with everyone else experiencing such unacceptable quality issues with their new RV's (bumper pull, 5th wheel, or fully drivable). Thank you, Liz, for all your efforts standing up for the community. You are truly a wonder person!

I have a Forest River and noticed insulation is almost non-existent. You freeze in the winter and summer the dual AC's never cycle off. Peeling wallpaper seems to be an issue in the forums as well as mine. Forest River is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway so I would hope Warren would build a quality product but it doesn't look that way. I'm comparing this to the Montana that I had which was a vey well built coach.

I feel these folks pain. Our previous RV was a Forrest River Berkshire Class A. These problems don't surprise me, ours also had numerous issues that should never have been present. In our case, a simple factory QC check before shipment would have revealed many of the issues, but that was clearly not done. We've since traded that unit on a much better Class A brand and have had a completely different experience.

Forest River Inc. recently announced that they were closing both RV factories in California, which results in 400+ people losing their jobs. Both the Rialto and Hemet facilities will be closing on December 13th. Forest River will no longer have any mfg. facilities in California. A service center in Hemet will remain open. The nearest factory to California will now be in Indiana after this consolidation. This likely is just from a slowdown in RV sales throughout the industry. It was a hot market after Covid hit and industry insiders felt the boom couldn't last forever.

After looking at trailers at our local dealers, I would not purchase anything coming out of Indiana. We decided to drive 2000 miles to purchase a Casita from the factory in Texas. Yes, it’s small but now it’s just the wife and I with our 15lb dog we really don’t need the space of a large trailer. A bonus feature is the truck and trailer fit into two standard sized parking spaces.
