    Dylan. Yes people will get into a driverless car. I was a cab driver for several years. Great job by the way. Every time someone got into my cab they were taking a huge leap of faith that I was sober and a good driver. Some of my fellow drivers in the fleet we're not so yet people got into their cabs and they never put on their seat belts. So yes people will get into driverless cars and they will be more secure. I know everyone won't like this but the fact is the one thing that driverless cars will add is safety. Consistently.

    Fyi, academic publishers don't pay the researchers who do the research and write the papers. In fact, we regularly have to pay the publishers 2000 to 4000 dollars to have our work peer reviewed and published on line. Also the peer reviews who are also academic researchers are not paid either. It's a system that needs fixed.

    WiFi is low enough power not to hurt us (probably) so the main thing about collecting energy parasitically is for tiny devices that require next to no power, but still need some. Also the amount of power you can collect is directly proportional to how much wire you've got collecting signal minus the losses in the wire itself. I could see the tech being used for surveillance devices. Also ways to things like 'find my' tags working. As time wears on and compute gets more efficient, we'll have powerful compute in devices that require next to no energy. Parasitic charging stations would be a useful thing to have for those type of devices.
    And Medium wise, Ignacio articles are top notch. You should dive down that rabbit hole. Explains a lot about how the whole AI thing works.

    • @dylan_curious
      @dylan_curious  Месяц назад

      Yeah. Instead of more power. We just need to wait until nano tech can make super low power devices.

      @@dylan_curious The chip fabs, like TSMC are down to 2 nanometres, so as Richard Feynman said, 'there's a lot of room at the bottom'. Seems to me that when AGI/ASI appears, nanotech will surge ahead as one of the technologies, and nanotech could change everything literally. I imagine you've heard of the 'grey goo' scenario.

      @@dylan_curiousexactly! More than a decade though, when 3G was the latest tech, getting a -24db packet of data on a mountain top would be enough for many applications. Even at that time, the thing i realized was that these cell phone towers or satellites are sending out huge amounts of ambient energy and one if one had a method to harness that, it would surely help in critical conditions like a device being powered off due to lack of electricity. We could wait a few weeks or so, and it would "regain consciousness" and talk back to the towers! And it would also solve the global warming hysteria which is primarily indoor cooling related.

    That Minecraft-clone is insane. Sure, it's not a _perfect_ clone, but that's so, so far beside the point. I knew Claude is good at coding, but it had to both be able to create that simulation _and_ embed it into a website, and handle all the inputs through that layer etc. etc.
    It's not anything a dedicated coder couldn't do, but it's definitely NOT a trivial task

      The user who made that thing has skillzors too. In my experience, in order to make LLMs actually code something as good and somewhat polished as that game, you basically have to be a bit of a software engineer yourself. The better you can spec what you want, the more probable it is you get out usable results.

    wonder if AI latent space abstractions map to some more general conception of a deeper reality, where varied quasi platonic forms exist or kind of morphically resonate a fundamental hyper dimensional substrate, manifesting transcendent dynamic ecology of physical, emotional, mathematical, non deterministic, conscious etc forms and domains? That is, is reality literally isomorphic to the process of vector space groupings of higher order concepts which emerge creating little existential islands of related truth?
    Maybe black box Ai hidden layer states are a scalable way to test nature of things from a different perspective. I mean if you can blur determinism of the internal state enough by complexity and other effects(quantum, chaos etc) then causality of hidden state becomes effectively an elemental description without parts and higher order abstraction just as real anything...
