I love this video cuz it covers the art of "closing the gap" which is something that not many wing chun or jkd guys do. the art of closing the gap was something bruce lee was very good at, he could close the gap from 6 ft away and trap. when bruce lee reunited with Hawkins Cheung (not William Cheung) in 1964 or something, Hawkins talked about how he stood far away and suddenly bruce lee did a quick "closing technique" and swiftly trapped. Hawkins was impressed. for me personally i always close the gap with a kick since a kick easily "distracts downstairs" but i need to close the gap with feints/punches more often
Youre right, you might not needa trap in many instances, that's cuz youre biu gee is FAST as fuck here 0:15 . good shit dude. but yes, there's gonna be times when it's necessary and it works i was sparring a dude where i unloaded combinations on him and he shelled him. so i did the double jut sao and pulled his guard down and did some chain punches with a hook. worked for me when people tense up shell up blocking
