The only problem, big or small, I’m having with my 2024 2.5 6MT is the cylinder deactivation.. Absolutely awful execution; feels like a misfire going from 4 to 2 cyls on the freeway, and around town 1600 - 1800 RPM in 5th or 6th the vibration during the 2 cyl cycle is unacceptable. This is my 20th or so new car in nearly 45 years of driving, excluding my sports and collectible cars. It is a singularly non-essential feature ruining an otherwise very good daily driver. The 2.5L is a great engine on its own; with a great manual trans in a light, hatchback package. It works best on all four cylinders.
I have the same car, '24 hatch MT...I swear I don't think this car has ever gone into 2 cyl mode. At least I never felt it. I don't put it in 5-6th gear at under 2000rpm, so maybe that's why. @@jwsnyder5021 Based on the other two comments here from fellow 2.5 MT owners that aren't experiencing the issue to the degree that you are, it sounds like yours is having some sort of issue. "weird, bulbous shape"?? Please, you just described every SUV...the 3 hatch is not only the best looking hatch, it's a super performer, with a few upgrades; big brake kit, H&R progressive springs, etc., but best-of-all: the MANUAL transmission! Every review I've seen cries about the rear window. You have rear camera, rear/side sensors, side mirrors - have people never driven a pickup truck with no rear camera or sensors, fully loaded with no visibility out the back? Or any car with luggage and pillows stacked to the ceiling? I frankly never need the back window. But how about those crash test results? Hard to beat Mazda's safety cages.
This car although very nice, is now 6 years old with ZERO updates. It looks just like a 2019. It's especially jerky when it downshifts from 2 to 1, pulling to a red light or stop sign. Has anyone noticed that? Put a Honda-sourced CVT in it !
The worst automatic transmission ever built in this segment. It s slow and lazy and whinning gearbox like a cheap old rental car. The amateur AI software in the transmission control confuses the engine which results in bad gear angagements and horrific fuel consumptions. It spent more time hunting for the right gear than actually driving. You should avoid this car despite all the glossy interior designs. You ll regret and hate every minute spending time in it. Neither it rewards yiu with a smile nor your pocket money. It s a very Amateur car compared to the rivals

i like the Mazda3, but the weird, bulbous styling/shape towards the rear is really off-putting IMO from various angles, so I went with a CX-30 instead. Plus, i really like the elevated ground clearance & seating position in the CX-30 vs the Mazda3.
Thanks for sharing 👍
I disagree, the rear in my opinion is super cool looking!
"weird, bulbous shape"?? Please, you just described every SUV...the 3 hatch is not only the best looking hatch, it's a super performer, with a few upgrades; big brake kit, H&R progressive springs, etc., but best-of-all: the MANUAL transmission! FYI, I own a C8 Corvette and a Mustang Mach-E GT, but I always take the 3 when I'm running errands, the fun-factor is off the scale...
Fuk SUV
I disagree too, looks like the modern styling of a 1950s sports car. Squint so you can't see the rear door and it is a 2 door sports car. It's clearly not intended as a family car. It's a 2 seater plus room for fur-babies only.
Driver air vents are too close to steering wheel!
@@saraaronzon4562 I find it better on hot days 👍
No rear air vents or usb..really? Pfft
It’s happens on a lot of vehicles 👍
@@HawkeyeRides Understood but this should be pointed out during the tour because I've never had a Mazda that didn't have such a feature.
@@mocha_genie7416 maybe rewatch the interior part and you will see it
sorry ops no 12 Volt in center console on the 2024s stupid they removed it
It’s a nice vehicle 👍
wish it had better suspension
They are great vehicles but it has room for improvement
We are on the 2024 and mazda still have non touch screen and small sized radio screen/outdated dash panel. I'll just wait around 2 more years so they can update it
Great overall vehicle but it does have room for improvements
it is touch on apple carplay
I hate touchscreens
Some of those larger screens look ridiculous. Just don't understand the appeal of them, other than, "Mine is bigger than yours".
Touchscreens in a car suck
The infotainment system IS touch screen able.
2024 models have it
The rear seat space is keeping me from buy this car
@@neo22501 I wish it had more too as it’s a great vehicle
The sedan has a more luxury look.
The sedan is nice, this is more sporty on the outside
But the chrome doesnt look as good as hatch in front. Hatch looks better in front end. Looks more modern.
but it is made in Mexico while the hatchback in japan
@@miopera40no way!!! You serious ?! Thank goodness I read your comment . Might as well get a KIA forte if I want something made in Mexico. Definitely going for hatchback now
Hatchback is Made in Japan. Sedan is cheap and built in Mexico. You can keep the sedan buddy.
No CVS is a big plus but turbo price over $40K - it’s overpriced
@@GaryFromLA they are great cars but it does get pricey
@ a agreed $38K for Mazda 3 - new customers who decided spend $40K on next car purchase probably do not have Mazda 3 on their list
Did you say 6 spd automatic CVT? Kinda of confusing. Let me clear it up. The car come in a truly 6spd auto yes it has gears. The non- turbo preminum trim comes with 6spd manual.
I don’t think you listen well, I said the nice thing is if you are comparing this to Toyota and Honda that has a cvt, here is a 6 speed automatic 🤷♂️

Biggest Problem? The Porthole for a back window. Was gonna buy but no rear veiw out the back window!
Thanks for sharing 👍
You get used to it. And I feel the side mirrors actually provide a very good view compared to some other behicles
That's what the rear camera is for.
Buy the new Impreza, it out handles the now torsion beam rear suspension on the Mazda and the WRX steering rack makes the RS feel like a go kart.
The CVT just feels like a smooth auto and is a non factor for this type of car. The 3 is outdated.
I reviewed it the suspension isn’t much better check it out for yourself. This is where I test the BMWs, Maseratis, Lexus, Subarus and ect.
It’s a lowered Crosstrek now which before this it was a lot better.
2024 Subaru Impreza RS is a Crosstrek NOW :All Specs & Test Drive

Leave it to a Subey fanboy to complain about a torsion beam then praise a cvt in the same comment
As an ex owner of 1994 and 1998, Integra, the new one doesn't look nice at all. It's just a riced out acura sedan.
I would wait for the 2025 mazda3 turbo. New design and larger size.
The Subaru CVT is a great big NO. It will embarass you if you do a 3-point turn.
First of all, I don't understand why this car exists. It's basically a shorter Sedan with pretty much the same price.
More choices gives more sales 👍
So you can have a hatch back, and so you can have a car from Japan and not Mexico. The sedan comes from Mexico.
You don't understand the difference between a hatchback and a sedan? Try thinking about it for a minute, you'll get there...
@@JamieStLouis-tu9ml the hatchback model is made in japan? im already decided to get this car and im still finding out about more things to be convinced
Oh I thought the sedan was just an enlarged hatchback.
I have a 2023 Select Hatchback. My biggest disappointment is 6 speed automatic. In sport mode, the shifts are a bit jerky ( but not in a sporty kind of way). It's especially jerky when it downshifts from 2 to 1, pulling to a red light or stop sign. Has anyone noticed that? Put a Honda-sourced CVT in it !
I didn’t have that problem but let see what others say
The worst automatic transmission ever built in this segment. It s slow and lazy and whinning gearbox like a cheap old rental car. The amateur AI software in the transmission control confuses the engine which results in bad gear angagements and horrific fuel consumptions. It spent more time hunting for the right gear than actually driving. You should avoid this car despite all the glossy interior designs. You ll regret and hate every minute spending time in it. Neither it rewards yiu with a smile nor your pocket money. It s a very Amateur car compared to the rivals
@@hectoOut thanks for your input 👍
I dont know what Mazda you’ve been driving, but every single 6 speed i’ve driven has been well composed and knows what it wants to do.
The manuals mazda are great.
For 27k what is a car with a better transmission..looking at a Mazda 3 this weekend..not set on it but it doesn’t seem like you can get anything around 30k without a cvt
Have you tried a Toyota eCVT?
If you wanna go slow it's good, but everything else is worse.
👍
