#1 the TCS Wow Sound Decoder is PHENOMENAL! # 2 To have an entire fleet of locomotives with this decoder would make model railroading one of the most fun and intriguing hobby out there. I seriously cannot wait till I get my hands this decoder !!!!
..... I have to wait longer..... Apparently, the entire first run that Tony's sold had an inadequate SD chip in them. TCS is gladly replacing the decoder - but it will be old news by the time I get the replacement. It's only BRAND NEW once! Oh well, they ARE standing by their products, as always...
Dear Soundtraxx, I have enjoyed your decoders, you were at the top of your game when releasing Tsunami some years ago, but because of your lack of improvement and innovation with those decoders, I have to break up with you. I have found a new love in my life, TCS WOW is really what Tsunami should have already been at this point. Very nice decoder. It actually works the way I have thought they should work out of the box. Even at MSRP of $109 that is about where Tsunami is at anyway. Thanks James!
@ jlwii2000 Do you think this is still a top product for aftermarket DCC Decoders? Is there something better now, 5 years later? Thank you, Love your vids! TY
Wow - no pun intended - with all this realism, all we need now, are little crewmen running around doing things! My mind is a dangerous place to be! LOL! ;) Love the new horn sounds, especially at 5:40.
Thanks for the indepth review. One of these would be great on a small switching layout with say only one or two loco's. Then you could immerse oneself even more into the operation of your loco.
So can the quill feature be turned on/off? I want to hear a good sample of the K5LLA without any quill. The K5LLA is a very distinctive and loud horn. I like this decoder alot but the horn is paramount
Like yourself, I have never been so impressed with a new decoder release! Between the "quilling horn" and the actual WORKING braking, and just unbelievable performance - it's phenomenal!! If anyone is interested, I have a short demo of the WOW! Diesel, in a Blue Box Athearn GP7, so you can hear 567B sounds. Thanks to TCS - NO BB Athearn has EVER run so good!!! :D Here's the video link: FINALLY! TCS WOW-101KA Diesel Demo... a quickie!: ruclips.net/video/mmamE1hBNFQ/видео.html
Thanks for the review, your effort and time. Sounds good. Liked the sychronization of sounds and motor control, on both acceleration and deceleration. DB sound (fans sound) was a bit too loud - not sure if the volume can be adjusted - but slowing the loco down when triggering the sound is a nice feature.
Impressive! I have used some twenty odd Soundtraxx decoders, and a few Digitrax decoders, and from what I see, these are going to make all the others, a run for the money! :-)
That is an Athearn SD70ACe. If you get an MTH, the speakers do fit in the fuel tank. However on the Athearn there is one 28mm speaker area to place it in.
Great review, James. All other manufactures better up their game. When this decoder becomes full production. I think its the best decoder on the market. I thought Locsound was great but TCS is going to give them a run for their money. TCS didn't charge extreme for it. Scott
WOW is right, one more step closer to buying these decoders. Thanks James, saw a friend of mine with one of your shirts, would love to get one. Thanks

Awesome review James thanks for sharing
Loved the review James
Thanks Randy, where you been?
Sorry James I have had the Flu like 3 times LOL
thanks for taking the time
thanks for the insight, i have been considering keep alive for awhile now!
There's 3 or 4 different quills per horn if you keep pressing f4
James, Current Keeper is made by Sound Traxx. Keep Alive is TCS. Awesome sound , nice review. Mike
Thank you for the horn links in the video
Thanks for showing the features. Can't wait for the Alco version
Great Review..thanks for sharing and keep up the great work. .
Very cool
Great job James. I enjoyed watching it. I can't wait to install mine and run my trains.

It's only BRAND NEW once!

G'Day James - excellent review - thanks - especially love the way you provided all the horn sounds.

Great video James, sounds are awsome.

Getting a wow tcs in my Allegheny right now
Great decoder was waiting for this to come out. Hopefully it will trickle down to N scale eventually. Great review James as always.
Sounds Great .Thank you again for your time to do the review Outstanding !
My wabash heritage locomotive shorted out and i think this is a good replacement decoder!

LOVE these decoders! They aren't overpriced either. Can't wait to get one and try it out! Thanks for the great review, James!
Best,
John P.
Cool decoder. I wonder how well it consists/plays well with other Dcc equipped locos.
Great decoder and as always great video James. Do you maybe know if they release GE sounds? Going to buy one for my engine. 😁
Thanks for the indepth review. One of these would be great on a small switching layout with say only one or two loco's. Then you could immerse oneself even more into the operation of your loco.
Great Job
Thanks for the review James. I am looking to replace my Tsunami decoder in my MTH loco for this one. How was the installation of this decoder?
Install isn't too bad, they spell it out for you in the manual.
I love that Keep Alive!
Great review James! A giant leap in sound decoders!! Hope Soundtraxx will be able to upgrade to this level!! Great job TCS!

Are u going to the Train Show in Madison WI this weekend
Nope, too far for me. Sorry though!
Great review my friend.

Good Horn and Bell
Thanks for the review, your effort and time.

What speaker did you say you used? I picked up the 28mm TCS round speaker with my decoder and what you used was phenomenal
Does the horn blow for the duration you hold down the button, or are the horn clips all pre measured?
Part 2 with review of the light functions? ;)
Definitely a possibility later on.
DYREK HAD PROBLEMS WITH TCS. WHEN HE WENT TO TURN ON LITES THE BOARD SHORT OUT . DID U HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.

When will you be starting work on your new
in March.
can you install it in older models
Yes. It will go in anything.
Did you use 18 inch radius curves
Hi James,
Wondering if that is the MTH SD70ACe. If it is, what speaker fits in the fuel tank?
That is an Athearn SD70ACe. If you get an MTH, the speakers do fit in the fuel tank. However on the Athearn there is one 28mm speaker area to place it in.
do you have to be in Idle (Coasting) / 0 speed step for the loco to stop using the engine brake F7 (not dynamic brake)?
Cheers
Nope. Dynamics work on any speed step.
&& Great video sir lol !!
Quick question. How big will your new layout be?
20 ft b 20 ft L shaped.
Wow! That's as big as NSmodeler24's layout!
Great review, James. All other manufactures better up their game. When this decoder becomes full production. I think its the best decoder on the market. I thought Locsound was great but TCS is going to give them a run for their money. TCS didn't charge extreme for it.
Scott
Do they have the set up for automated random functions of all those sounds to come on themselves ?
Nice Vid
Thumbs up
James, who did the installation?
Do you have a Big-Boy in your fleet ??
Yes, 4014 with an oil tender.
cool
Quill is bad especially for an ACe, I hope that can be changed.
Its an EMD, needs wheel slip sounds
Layout
What is that app on your phone? What does it work with?
It's simply a timer and clock app.
oh gee for some reason i mistook it for one of those jmri or some sort of wireless app. now i feel dumb going back and listening lol.
