its kind of strange, because the bank exactly knows that he gets paid a relative big amount by twitch, it could even be that they know his account name, because of tax reasons. so he just could explain that its for a bit as a part of his job as a twitch streamer/influencer or whatever the bank-person understands.
what, you mean you did not tell them that you made an ai yourself and letting it buy and sell stocks? no chance of they thinking you are delulu. especially if you elaborate that it is a vtuber ai and you do it as a subgoal and you are clearly not held at gunpoint...
I assume this is the same in some other places but in the UK, if someone gets scammed out of their bank savings, even purely through their own stupidity, the bank is increasingly being held responsible and has to pay the money back. So as a result, there's an obnoxious amount of security and monitoring of your money as soon as you touch any large amount. They aren't really making sure your money is safe, they're making sure their money is safe, because the government holds them responsible. If an old person is trying to send money to a Nigerian prince, it's probably pretty helpful though.
I bought a subscription for a tabletop simulator at 4am and I got a call about it and the lady said that they thought it was fraud, and I said it was real, and she asked me what it was, and I had deer in the headlights moment because I did not wanted to explain what DnD is and what a tabletop simulator is and why does it cost money, so I just said "It's a subscription", and the moment I said it I knew she though it was OF or some other porn website. She thanked for the answer and disconnected. One of the most awkward moments with a total stranger.
why is he so secretive? the bank knows perfectly well that he gets paid by twitch and for tax reasons probaply also knows what he does. the reason for the call probaply was that the bank by law has to make sure that you dont try to evade taxes, and vedal telling him its an investment just sounds suspicious that he trys to evade investment tax by sending huge amounts of money to a foreign company. vedal probaply can suspect a call of a very curious tax office asking exactly where this money actually went, especially because its such a huge sum.
UK banks are infamous for being permissive of sketchy transactions, they were likely worried his online banking got hacked rather than giving a damn about what he's doing
The bank probably knows his on paper job description yeah. That doesn’t mean the fraud prevention desk guy understands the details of it in this very weird and unusual iteration.
@@DahliaInPurple Yeah, it's not always a guarantee that you look at all of this as Vedal with the ability to explain it and all of the context around it in order to also explain a certain purchase or withdrawal. The same way a chemist who gets contacted by customs for a super weird-ass instrument isn't going to explain the nitty gritty, they're just going to say they're a licensed chemist with a registered laboratory. Maybe at most; explaining that the specific thing was ordered by his lab to do a small-scale reaction which will end up being part of the process to manufacture certain goods. Though tbf I think Vedal's bank would've understood more easily that he's running an entertainment business, which he mostly is even if most of HIS work is development. Banks find it easier to hear of a big investment into multimedia equipment, than to have to comprehend big GPUs or whatnot. Edit: Though now I realize the 10k is actually for stock trading. Either way, it's easier to say that you're running a growing entertainment business and that you are personally willing to put this much money into trading, than to explain that you're some small AI developer or something.
Doubt it has anything to do with taxes because the transactions have a clear paper trail. It's probably just has to do with scams. I got hit by a scam once and it was small amounts of money, which escalated. I was out a few grand before the bank noticed.....I never got my money back either. The elderly many times get caught in large 1 time payment scams, usually to do with an investment or technology, which is probably why it triggered the auto block payment. Some bigger banks have dozens of different flags. I had to go in person to my banks to get a higher transaction limit, because no matter what settings I adjusted or people I called, I always had to go through these calls to spend my (own money over various amounts)
Make no nistake, Vedal is being scammed. But ye's scamming himself.
Yup Vedal be British, that vague "It's none of your business" vibe while trying to feed enough info to get them off your back. 🤣

It's for content so you could say it's a business transaction. 😂
well the bank knows exactly well thst he gets paid by twitch as s job, so i dont know why he is so secretive
I appreciate your bank tho. Making sure your money is safe.
or make it difficult to withdraw a money , you know take your own money from bank if its big always difficult

That's a good bank....mine would just go "Ok, but how much will WE get of that money?"
