Health Deputies Close Down Fruit Vendor

- Los Angeles County Public Health Deputies, with the Santa Monica Vendors Task force, confiscate fruit and close down a fruit vendor at Santa Monica Beach on Sunday, July 17, 2022. The Los Angeles County Public Health Deputies issued a Notice of Closure to the fruit vendor for violation of California health and safety code and/or Los Angeles County Code and for repeat violation of operating beyond the scope of the permit. According to the Los Angeles County Public Health Deputies, pealed fruit is not permitted. Also melons, cantaloupe and honeydew are also not permitted.
The multi-department Vendors Task force consists of Santa Monica Police Officers, Santa Monica Code Enforcement Officers, Santa Monica Fire Department personnel, Santa Monica Harbor Patrol Officers, Public Works, and private security guards.
Sidewalk vending can be conducted on most sidewalks and pedestrian paths in the City, but there are restrictions on where stationary vending can take place and the hours when roaming vending can take place in residential locations. In addition, no vending is allowed on private property, the Santa Monica Pier (including within 100 feet of the Pier), a farmer’s market, permitted community events or filming activities, a bike path, a street, driveway, or public parking lot.
Stationary sidewalk vending is also prohibited within 25 feet of the Third Street Promenade, the Transit Mall, the Beach, in residential areas, the 1700 block of Ocean Front Walk, and portions of the Palisades Park within 500 feet of the Pier entrance. Roaming sidewalk vending is not allowed in residential areas between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m.
The newly formed task force has been instrumental in helping to educate and enforce the City’s safety laws and ensuring safe sidewalk vending practices across the City.

I like watching these videos, Santa Monica close up it would be great if you interviewed one of the health people in one of these so they could explain the rules and what all these people are doing wrong. Like the guy in this video is it both his location and what he is selling that are the violations? It would just be interesting to know what the rules are.
Once here vendor at a fair made apple juice and made about 200 people deathly ill he lost everything he owned his entire farm .
Oh no! Another active vendor incident in Santa Monica. Thanks to the tactical expertise of the Vendor Task Force the threat of a watermelon, pineapple and mango fruit cup was quickly neutralized.
Maybe vendors should just get a license and not be such low hanging fruit themselves.
Get a permit, comply with all health codes, pay the sales tax, carry liability insurance, and we're all good. Just like every other legitimate business these folks are trying to undercut does...
