- Welcome to another video from We like this Life and our 8 month family adventure through Europe and Asia. We had been on the road for 3 months when we got to Bali and had just spent a fantastic week in Singapore with Uncle Ali. If you haven’t seen our video from Singapore you can watch after this. (It’s our most viewed video yet:))
We were still a bit jet lagged, but happy to finally be in Bali, one of our other mayor destinations in Sout East Asia. We had plans to stay here for a while and we were greeted the first night with a spectacular sunset! Knowing everybody was at home freezing in Norway, it felt really good to be in the tropics:)
Kuta is an area in the south of the Island. It is the more busy and touristy part of Bali, but we stayed a few days here and at Seminyak nearby to get acclimated. This was after all the first time the kids were in the tropics!.
There are plenty of fun things to do here, especially for kids and we really enjoyed ourselves.
We meet some dudes on the beach collecting crabs in bamboo that washed up on the beach. That was something we hadnt seen before. There is a huge beach along this entire bay, and the warm tropical seawater was another first for the kids, and I also got a workout throwing them in the waves:)
Later we went into the sea to throw the kids around a little. Good fun.
As we got ready to go back to the hotel, som more guys showed up. We didn’t know what was going on at first, but this is one of the wonderful kultural worldschooling lessons you can stumble upon while traveling. A funeral, where everybody was happy and sent stuff and money into the sea for the departed to bring along into the afterlife. Another surprise followed, as there were plenty of peo ple wait ing to catch anything of value once the funeral party was done. No one seemed to care about that.
Bali has the most spectacular nature, but that is not the first thing you experience when you get to Bali. The south of the Island is very busy and crowded.
We had a good time there, but we felt an urge to get out of the busyness. We wanted to go to Ubud, known for it’s beautiful ricefields and chilled atmosphere. We booked a ride and a new guesthouse and off we went!
Join us for these first days in Bali as we get to know the place!
