Why is the "queda" in the sentence? Does it need to be there? Thank you. Love the lessons.
Quedar is used for permanent things such as structures like museum, restaurant, hotel that don't move around. It's really like asking where does the museum stay rather than where is (temporary state) the museum.
Estar is used for temporary things like positions, moods, actions. As you are already aware you would use estar for someone or something that is temporarily placed or positioned like "donde esta mi carro?"

Báscula is the weight scale. In airports they have big ones, where you put your baggage on so they check it’s no over weight
