- When Fiat decided to return to the United States, after a total of 27 years of absence, Fiat knew they had to hit hard! So, in 2012 Fiat introduced the Fiat 500 as their comeback vehicle, and it left quite a few people puzzled. Rather than Fiat wanting to hit a very competitive segment like the compact sedan or compact utility vehicle segment; they went for a much more different approach. They went for the sub-compact class and wanted to bring all of their Italian spunk with them. So, let's see how the 2017 Fiat 500 holds its own, after being in this same generation for over 5 years!

I bought one of these used and so far I have been very impressed with its utility. It has what you need and nothing you can't live without. The fuel economy for the standard transmission is unbelievable when driven normally. My last fill-up calculates to 44mpg! The little motor is a tad noisy from the exterior of the car but oddly not from the interior. Going from a Land Rover to this is a whole other game but since the maintenance and cost to operate the Fiat is a tiny percentage of what it cost to run the Rover, well, good-by Rover.
Awesome, Mike! Yes. The Fiat 500 is surprisingly utilitarian. It stands out, has a quirky personality, has a surprisingly spacious interior, and of course, still achieves respectable fuel economy.
That's so cool that you went from a Rover to a Fiat 500. I can only imagine the amount of money you are saving with this Fiat. Not to mention, you'll still be riding around in style.

Excellent review I have a 2015 pop with very similar features to the 17. Good in the city and very capable on the freeway. 5 speed manual very smooth engine also very willing for only 100 horse does not feel under powered at all. I owned a fiat econo box in the seventies and this is a much better car. Very time I get out and look at it I'm amazed at how small it is and you do need to be aware that other drivers may not be aware of your presence. One additional note my coin car was gives me 6 minutes in spray her down completely 6 times and I still have 3 minutes left 😅. Almost forgot 89/91 octain didn't didn't see that coming until I open the gas flap ouch. Runs best with 91 but over all fun car . 😎

Should have done a better explanation of functionality of the Sport Button, it does a lot more than throttle control.
Question, mine came with a real spoiler. How do you REMOVE it?
+Steven Penny, According to a lot of the forums out there, it is extremely difficult to remove the spoiler without messing up the paint of the car or even the spoiler it's self! They claim it is mounted on in such a way that is almost impossible to remove without causing some sort of damage! Sorry, I guess Fiat really wanted that spoiler to be on the car!
By the way, which Fiat 500 do you have? Do you have the Fiat 500 Sport? Thanks for bringing this topic to my mind, though! I appreciate learning new things from my viewers! ;-)

+Steven Penny, Yep! All 2017 models come standard with alloy wheels. Steel wheels used to be standard on previous years! Now steels wheels are standard! Which actually adds some benefits, but also some drawbacks! Feel free to check out my video on Steel wheels vs. Alloy wheels! I cover on some pretty interesting points that some people may not have known about. There are actual pros and cons of having either type wheel! 😉

Can you turn off your daytime light?
Steven Penny, Yes, you can turn off the Daytime Running Lights. In the menu screen scroll until you see "daytime lights", then select "off", or "on"!

Does this car come with a spare tire??
Maggie I, Yes. The Fiat 500 comes with a spare tire as optional equipment. It will actually be located under the car in the rear, as oppose to in the trunk. Standard, though is your typical "Fix-A-Flat" kit. Thanks for commenting!

22:37 Mexican quality right there. I mean come on. In EU you access the spare from the trunk. They didn't even bother to make a new sheet metal press! Instead they give this messy hand applied sealant and a patch where the spare would be in EU? WHAT? That is just beyond cheap
Beware of parking a Fiat in shopping parking lots, just one tap of a shopping cart and your 500's totaled, lol Ive driven these little tykes and they are a blast to drive. But they are over priced for the size.
They are on the more pricey side, especially considering it's small size. Most people are probably going to buy this car for it's fun to drive nature and its very personality focused feature list and styling. Luckily, Fiat lowered the price of the 500 for this model year by about 2,500 dollars all across the 500 lineup. So, it is going to be a bit more worth the money and affordable for some people....

Keep in, though, that looks can be deceiving. You will have to see it in person in order to put a final evaluation on it.

no thanks, the chevy spark is disgusting looking compared to the gorgeous Italian designed Fiat 500. I wouldn’t drive a lame chevy spark if I was paid 1million dollars each time i drove it....yuck
