      There are excellent maritime channels on youtube (that are not MSM) who have the real story. "What Is Going on With Shipping" and "eSysman SuperYachts" are two sources posting real facts gathered by experienced maritime trackers -- and they are debunking all of the many "theories" promoted by ignorant people. Watch their videos and learn how real reporting is done.

      there is always evidence for specific theories. That's what cults are made of. You have just enough truth to make it believable. Once you reach believability, game over, right? Not right. This is where you trust your gut instincts. If it all looks believable but something in your gut is telling you there is something that still doesn't seem right, trust your gut always!

    I'm a Marine Engineer and work on ships. I will tell you that, 1. There are emergency generators on these ships that will come on automatically when there is power failure from the main generators. This does take anywhere between 20 a d 45 seconds. It is possible that there was an issue with the emergency generator but by CFR regulations monthly load test are required. Also, most engineers will have multiple generators running in parallel while transiting a busy port or beneath a bridge. 2. Ships are designed to be able to operate the engines even with power failure. There are battery back ups for throttle controls. 3. In the video the heavy exhaust could be the result of sending the vessels props in reverse to slow the boat down. However, the sudden change in course tells me this was more on the deliberate side than not. The course the vessel was on seemed fine until the last minute. 4. There are speed restrictions while transiting through ports and there were pilots on board which are not organic to the crew but they don't typically physically operate the vessel, they are there to give instruction and information about the winds, tide, currents etc. I just wanted to give more information to the thread.

    • @ombeth
      @ombeth Месяц назад +42

      This is exactly what I was going to post. Those ships don't just fail to operate, there are back up systems in place. The possibility of power failure is accounted for, esp with big money on the line. The question is WHY did the power cut off. The moment the power cut off the back side of the ship began to swing out and that is what caused the change in course...the steering wasn't deliberate, it's something that naturally happens with ships if there's no steering control. But the timing of the power being cut off (twice) that close to the pylon is very suspicious.

    • @johnpadraicdonovan6453
      @johnpadraicdonovan6453 Месяц назад +21

      3/M here, you gotta consider the way the ship is gonna handle when the power goes out, there’s a lot of other factors ie. wind, current, sail area, & momentum. To me this just does not spell out deliberate at all. I deal with tug & barges so ship handling is what I do for work on a daily basis. If you have a vessel like that with loss of propulsion, it’s not gonna stop on a dime and it’s gonna get thrown off course in the 30-45 seconds that it’s offline. If you can’t get the plant back online for an emergency full astern bell then it’s gonna keep going for a while because of how heavy it is and the momentum that goes with that. I think the crew definitely should’ve dropped the anchor sooner than they apparently did, but I don’t see any foul play from a bridge/wheelhouse standpoint.

      When entering or leaving a port, once the Harbor Pilot is on board, he is in charge of navigation (the the ship's master remains in command of his vessel). The Master & crew must abide by the orders of the Harbor Pilot, unless the Pilot is otherwise impaired or endangering the ship & crew. In this case, there were 2 Harbor Pilots on board (don't know why). When the lights went out, the ship more than likely lost the ability to steer (one of the most dangerous situations at sea). Protocol is to drop both anchors to slow or stop the ship. Because the ship was moving to starboard (to the right, towards the bridge), the crew apparently dropped only the port side (left) anchor in order to pull the ship toward the left, away from the bridge. This makes total sense. However, there wasn't enough time to slow the ship. When so many keep asking why was the ship paralleling so close to the bridge prior to the collision, I would remind you that the Harbor Pilots were in command of navigation, not the ship's Master/Captain. This will all take a lot of time to unravel completely (remember, these are gov't agencies investigating...they move at a snail's pace). Meanwhile, I hope you join me in praying & wishing for peace & comfort for the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident. 🙏

      3) they believe (or know) it was, and do want people to know it;

But even more so, just imagine realizing you were one of those last cars or trucks to zoom right over the ship! Wow. I wonder if they even knew what happened right behind them, or if they kept going on their merry little way.

      I blame the US civil engineering culture for that. Coming from Mexico, from a family with plenty of civil engineers among my uncles, you can't begin to appreciate how FURIOUS i get whenever i listen that moronic sentence of "everybody can build a bridge that stands, but few people can build a bridge that _barely_ stands". And US civil engineers take *pride* in agreeing with that idiotic statement!!! Apparently, such idiocy was born as a result of a need to assure investors that a particular engineer, in charge of an engineering project, wouldn't incurr in extra costs - which they do nonetheless, with or without that statement. But the end result of absorbing that statement and the sentiment embodied in it is: a culture that's *obsessed* jwith always doing the cheapest thing that works, checking the absolute bare minimums that are legally required, and then forget about it. Coming from a highly seismic country, the contrast in how our engineers work is impressive. If the law says a building or a bridge must withstand as a minimum winds 80km/hr and an earthquake 6.0 in Richter scale (the gov't certifying bodies used to do analyses with scaled models, now they use computers), an engineer who's worth his dime will design the structure to withstand 100km/hr and earthquakes up to 7.0 . Why? Because sometimes, when different factors add up (like resonance, or the waves getting amplified), a building that was certified for a 6.0 earthquake will collapse with "just" 5.5 Richter, or a bridge certified for winds 80km/hr will unexpectedly face a hurricane with 120km/hr winds. But a structure that was slightly "over-engineered" will survive - that's how you save lives. The prestige of an engineer takes a huge hit if one of his creations falls down!! Caiming "oh, i followed all the laws, it was certified to meet the minimum" won't save his face. Look at how low the prestige of construction company ICA has fallen, after all the deffects in the Mexico City subway line they built have surfaced (yeah, the one that had a bridge that collapsed, killing a number of people).

And is very common sense. Ship stops completely or slows down . Drop anchor in event of Emergency stop needed if necessary. Why would you change direction and not decrease speed if you had loss of steering. Make it make sense. If you lost ship power and switch to a backup generator. The ships engineering office should have made the call for them to go into emergency protocol and damage control mode in a instant. The bridge had to be steering. They deliberately turn right.

Could it be there are multiple and only some or one fired up causing the ship to turn? Or how reasonable is it to assume someone simply zigged when they should’ve zagged during the panic? I think that is what they say happened to the Titanic. Either way, the power going out and the black smoke rolling isn’t business as usual. It appears there was a major malfunction and if it was deliberate, they sure waited until the last moment. Makes more sense to be an accident, given the circumstances shown in the video.

    @wjohnsaunders Месяц назад

    I saw a report from a marine engineer, ex-navy, and he said a loss of engine power does cause a ship to change direction slightly. The propeller has a paddle wheel effect which pushes the rear of the ship to one side, which they compensate for with the rudder. However when the engine stops the rudder position then causes the ship to change direction a bit until they can correct. This thing is going to be investigated all the way to what the crew had for lunch a year ago, so we should find out if there was a plausible mechanical/electrical issue.

    The last ship I was on hit the wharf when the power cut out. If you've been in a situation like this before you'd know how fast this all happens. The puff of smoke from the funnel indicates they went into full astern once engine power was restored. I noticed there were no tugs which could help maneuver the vessel in an emergency. The wind can push a containership from port to starboard rather quickly and in combination with cross currents even more so. Not everything has to be a conspiracy.

      @@manicmike7724it is... People often underestimate what cross wind can do to ships regardless of their size or weight. Cross wind can litterally blow a cargo ship or even an oil tanker straight to the store in a matter of moments. That's why they need humongus engines both rear and front. This doesn't mean it was an accident but it could be.

    JP 100% agree. I have watched the footage over and over again. As someone who knows basic knowledge about Ships and being a waterman, I can tell you that when a Ship loses power from the engines, It loses control of steering. if that ship happens to be in a turn, the momentum of the ship will keep it in that turn until either power is brought back or the momentum of the ship is slower then the current of the water and wind. While I won't speculate as to whether it was a cyber attack or just mechanical failure, that is outside my realm of knowledge. But what I can say is that even if He missed the Bridge pier with the bow, He would of most likely struck it with the stern, trying to port round it. this can be dimistrated with a compase and a sheet of paper and drawing a circle you steer the front by creating a radius in the back. It does look like he tryed to miss the pier because if you watch closely the bow start to moved toward the channel about minute or so before impact. indicating to me he was trying to avoid impact. I have also seen people claiming to see explosion on the bridge, But Those were Power cables that ran across the bridge instead of under the water. and therfore was arcing from being ripped apart. I have traveled across that bridge thousands of times in my life and Never imagined something like this... this will have some long term implications just based on logistics and traffic. I don't know whether this is terror or not. I can only answer to what I know, based on my own first hand knowledge.

    Rationality: Freethinkers place a strong emphasis on using reason, logic, and critical thinking to evaluate ideas and beliefs, rather than relying on faith or emotion.
    Scientific method: Freethinking often involves applying the principles of the scientific method, such as forming hypotheses, gathering data, and drawing conclusions based on empirical evidence.
    Open-mindedness: Freethinkers strive to remain open to new ideas and evidence, even if they contradict previously held beliefs.

    [COMMENT RE-POSTED FROM ANOTHER VIDEO]
    "I'm a marine engineer; here's my guess at what has happened.
    When a ship leaves port there is a requirement to start stand-by generators for the duration of the voyage out.
    But sometimes there are other issues, a switch board failure, or auto-control issue and you can lose the lot. it has happened to me a few times over the years.
    Everything goes off-line and the main engines shut down automatically because they have no feed pumps for fuel, lube oil and air.
    The emergency generator will usually start - a small diesel housed on the upper deck usually behind the bridge. It gives enough power for the nav gear and some ventilation, and enough power to enable the engineers to get the rest of the gear back on-line.
    That is probably driving the lights we see come back on but not as many as before. The engineers then go round the engine room and control room and manually switch all the gear back on. That can take some time.
    But because of the emergency the engineers in this case would have to make a terrible decision to start the main engines immediately to go emergency full astern possibly without supporting pumps and almost certainly with some engine damage.
    Black smoke is always a sign of incomplete combustion. the massive pumps that supply air to the engine room would be off-line and so the engines would be gasping for air. The fuel would burn but without enough air hence the black smoke.
    in full-astern mode the rudder would be useless.
    I really hope the anchor team got off the foredeck before the bridge came down on top of them."
