I am a Libertarian and believe that cutting government spending, not getting involved in other countries, securing our border, and having common sense laws that don't infringe on the constitution are the way to go.
Federally legalize marijuana and use the tax revenue to fund schools and fix roads, allow abortion up to two months from conception, don't restrict firearms (it's pointless because the criminals will get them anyways and doing so will put regular peoples' lives at risk), impose stricter guidelines on BigPharma, make it illgal for banks and similar entities to guy up single family homes only to rent them out at double or even triple market value, make it illegal for any billionaire to start their own charities by donating to themselves in return for tax write-offs, etc...
Extreme Capitalism is hardly any different from Communism because the 1%ers are basically slave owners. Look at Jeff Bezos with his facilities across the USA, the workers are treated like subhuman tools and are paid in scraps while Bezos can buy multi-million dollar yachts without batting an eyelid.
My boss at the salt mine I've worked at for over 20 years makes over $300,000 a year clean while regular employees like me tear our bodies up for $60,000 a year if we bust our asses.
The only times the guy leaves his office while at work is when he uses the restroom or clocks in/out of work. He is also only 22 years-old and his father owns the company and he lives in a million dollar mansion while most of us workers are renting to pay off another persons mortgage.
There needs to be more checks and balances, there should not be a single billionaire in America and who in the hell needs more than 3 million in a lifetime?
A communist revolution requires material conditions but I agree on how capitalism has been so harsh on us.

Generally speaking people are unhappy with the current system & easily can draw the conclusion that doing it any other way would be better than the current way. Some people fixate on communism because we have both billionaires & we have people that have practically nothing all within the same nation. It was more nuanced than what it sounds at first glance, as it was specifically talking about public meetings that are legal in nature. So not your grandma praying in the park or a McDonalds and getting arrested

My mother's family emigrated from the Soviet Union in the 80s because my grandfather was fed up with the oh-so-great communism.
My great-grandfather was deported to a gulag in WWII because of his religion and nationality and shot there. The rest of my family were excluded for the same reason.
My grandfather and his brothers survived on potato peelings and were once sent to prison for picking up some leftover grains from a freshly harvested field.
Two of my uncles were arrested in one night by the "Militsia", the Soviet police, because a bicycle had gone missing in the village the day before and they were accused of stealing it. They were released the next day but never said what happened at the police station. In any case, they were terrified of the police for the rest of their youth.

Two things you can count on with Canadian communists: every other form of communism wasn’t “true communism” and every Canadian communist refuses to simply leave and go live in a communist country.
Canada is a communist country. The government owns the means of production, the government owns the people.
Fascism is the premise that the government represents the people and their will, so the government gets complete authority over everything, to carry out the will of the people. If the government can tax and regulate everything, that is literal fascism.
The second is the most annoying to me. Go join a commune. You know, the small scale version of communism that is the largest type that can even remotely work. No. They must force communism on everyone else. Because they are lazy authoritarians. They don't want to work hard to make a commune function. They want to not have to work at all because the government takes the things they want from people who did work.

In the former east Germany, there was almost no unemployment. Because people were forced to work.
The police came at 6:00 in the morning to your home, picked you up and brought you to a factory.
It didn't matter that some times there was nothing to do in the factory, for example when the production plan was already fullfilled or there was a lack of materials to work or produce.
You just had to be there all day and if you refused, you went to jail.

I will never forget a photo from 15yrs or so ago of a woman standing in the path of a bulldozer which was preparing ti demolish a Christian church in China. The news story told of how the bulldozer buried her under. I also remember sharing seats on the Amtrak between Philly and NY with a Chinese tourist and his two adult children. It was a bitterly cold January morning with one of those brilliant blue skies. As the train made its way out of Philly the man remarked how America had such clean air and so many churches with crosses. Yes, I thought to myself I never have to fear bulldozers. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

One of the main problems with this is that it limited the movement of labour. if your Landowner was a crap manager and spent all earnings on drinking and having wild parties, basically running his company into the ground, you couldn't go look for a job elsewhere - unless the landlord sold you to someone else to pay off debts.
Under capitalism, I am free (or supposed to be) to take my human capital elsewhere if my boss is a jerk. I can start my own business if I chose and own the means of production.
Now it could be argued that the migrant crisis in America should be considered in line with capitalism. Except of course that you have social programmes acting as an incentive and distorting the market. Social progammes paid for by tax paying citizens that non-tax paying persons are accessing. In my country, there is no way that we could patrol our border and keep venezuelans out. Instead, we made it clear that they could get temporary work permits, but they couldn't access our healthcare systems for free - they would have to pay. And even though I am sure that our demographics will change over time, the deluge we had at first, has died down to a trickle. Many went back home because they had no support system here, and jobs weren't that easy for them to come by.

well the people who tend to be against communism do tend to say that communism shouldnt be allowed to exist, which in itself is anti democratic and a very communist thing to say. So in many ways, the ones against communism do tend to also be against democracy or destroying democracy, they just dont know it because they 1, dont know what democracy actually is, and 2, are the average uneducated masses who are prone to violence and hatred and crap so they just go belligerent at anything they dont like in an illogical way anyway.

During communist times in Hungary, you could go abroad every few years with about 50 dollars worth of currency per person. Back then they even put grandma in the car for the +50 dollars and went to neighboring Czechoslovakia to buy a refrigerator and jeans... The old "good" days... From what I've read so far, the Nazis, or National Socialist German Worker's Party (NSDAP), were socialist, but with a built-in racist element which was unique to their creed. They were therefore selective in what they defined their society to consist of, then attempted to impose their local socialism for local people, for the benefit of the people whom they allowed into their club. Anyone not deemed part of their society were then deemed dispensable and when that socialism was imposed, we know what the results were. They didn't agree with Marxist-Leninist socialism, partly because they saw Karl Marx as being a Jew and partly because the Soviet doctrine of global socialism (including pushing for coups d'etat in countries worldwide) did not fully match the objectives of their local national one.
