  • This new fly-through video shows the exact route of the proposed multi-million pound North West Relief Road in Shrewsbury.
It is part of the final phase of public consultation which has been launched by Shropshire Council.
The road will connect the A5 at Welshpool Road roundabout in the west to the Ellesmere Road roundabout in the north, with new bridges over the River Severn and the Shrewsbury to Chester railway line.

Been waiting for this road for over 30 years. With all the flooding Shrewsbury has had lately this will let people get from the Ellesmere Road to Bicton and Copthorne without having to go the long way round.

Don't hold your breath. Morris's own most of this land . They've been in charge of the local council for generations and in the same Lodge as Galliers. They've been sitting on this since the seventies, waiting for the cheque from Brussels to mature.

Single lane and no overtaking places? Oh dear, this looks great but seriously no overtaking lanes means traffic cues no doubt.

Makes sense... similar to using a toll road in France... we use them .. they prob caused upset... it's the reality of cheap food n nxt day deliveries..

strange to think that folks actually believe this has anything at all to do with helping the poor folk of Shrewsbury and surrounds. This is a typical vanity project pored over by unanswerable self servers in local government with none of their own money at risk. Morris et al will have a deal done to develop the land along this route creating thousands of extra council taxes for the council. Thousands more vehicles, none of which will use P&R to get in to their own town centre - all those drivers that use the roads, not rat runs through Bomere, because they are entitled to, will continue to do so, me included. And then all of a sudden perfect opportunity for 15 minute city as Shrewsbury wont be able to handle the traffic once the Smithfield Road shit show development gets done and by that time all you idiots who think it is a good idea will look to government for excuses.... Nice one

With single lane traffic, I can imagine more accidents due to overtaking, it should at the very least be dual carriageway, but that would make it twice as expensive. This road is going to devastate innocent peoples lives who have no concerns with Shrewsbury.

This will cost far too much in terms of finance, devastate countryside and farmland at a time when our climate and need to feed ourselves are becoming increasingly important. Poor idea, poorly thought out.
