I have been raising Bluebirds for 25 years in Northeastern Arkansas. We are building a new home and I am trying to learn my predators for this new location.
They are really getting big. In a few days they will fly away to the safety of the honeysuckle vines. Mom and Dad will still feed them. I will get prepared to clean out the nest for their next brood. The parents will build a new nest for each brood. They should have three maybe four groups of babies this summer.
I LOVE them, too! And they are just back in my are of Northwestern Virginia, or at least I just saw my first one of the season this past weekend. So beautiful! Good luck with the ones on your land. I have an outbuilding that needs fascia board but I'm not putting it on because the bluebirds tend to hang out in and around that building and I've heard that a big factor in their reduced numbers is that old buildings and dead trees are getting taken out. I've got both.
You are right. Their habitat for nesting going away. These boxes help a lot but the birds are territorial by nature. I put up three boxes on 2 1/2 acres and only one had a nest. I gave them to friends to put up in their yards.
Beautiful babies!

Nice little setup on that birdhouse.
Thanks it cost me $1.90 to build and about 15 minutes not including the nole guard around the entrance.

I saw you on the HoosierbackOD live stream
Yes, I was there watching drawing.
Awesome. By the way. What happened to your kayak?
I was diagnostic with neuropathy and could not get into a small craft like that alone.
ArkansasPrepper I'm sorry to hear that. I must say though I was looking forward to watching you modify it. Hope all is well.
I would have kept it but my family said "No". It was really more of my balance is not good on dry ground....lol. Thanks
How far are you from the Arkansas Ozarks?
I am in the Ozark foot hills. Where the delta and mountains meet on the mountain side of the line.
