The shit she's saying is exactly what female abusers say. I was an idiot and got married at 21 to a woman I knew for 3 weeks. Turned out she had immense anger issues and if you pushed an argument far enough it would get violent. She said exactly the same things "you're a man, get over it. I can't hurt you. You're being a baby." It's an odd feeling of powerlessness knowing that you can't defend yourself from the pain being inflicted on you because the cops would come and you'd be the one going away. You as a man could absolutely wreck this person but you have to just endure it and they know you have to endure it.

this psychologist literally said that the only times she's found a man as a victim of domestic abuse and a woman being the abuser was in homosexual relationships. in her mind, if two people are in a heterosexual relationship, the man is always the abuser and the woman is always the victim.

Correct. This is exactly what she thinks. The woman's a dinosaur. The world has changed, society has changed, but she hasn't accepted the new data into her mind. It seems that for her, the world still looks like the way it looked when those who taught her were her age.
There really isn't any excuse for it. Plenty of other therapists and psychology practitioners that are the same age as her have accepted that we women are not little fragile flowers with no power.

@@rockforester7908 I've always read/heard the same too. It's a difficult case of people wanting to help others, but not being fully equipped for the job. I love that people want to help others with similar ailments but there comes a point where it can cause problems and even culminate into malicious practice. For example, the sexist, hate filled, out of date and clearly untrained woman in the video.
I'm not trying to make you read an essay, but on a personal note; my sister and I have mental health issues from childhood trauma. Yet that hasn't stopped her from helping me more than any psychiatrist I've had the misfortune of seeing. So inevitably, people like us are just the collateral expense and cannon fodder for the psychiatric industry.

How many times I left the room and was followed and harassed for hours, sometimes days at a time. I tried and tried to make the marriage work, but finally realised it is impossible to live in peace with a psychopath. Leaving was the most dangerous time, and still now, many years later, that person tells anyone who will listen, that I am an abuser, a child molester, drug dealer, gold-digger, welfare cheat-- anything awful that a person could ever be accused of. Dr. Curry made a good point that stuck with me- that I really hope the jury noticed and will remember: psychologists in a therapeutic setting are expected to take their clients’ stories at face value. So, if the jury understands that, they should discount the “notes” of abuse altogether, leaving no medical record evidence of abuse perpetrated by Johnny at all.

Yes, notes made by a doctor that go into your medical record are just that, medical records. But a note of "this person came in for _____" is not the same note or summary of medical findings, as a diagnosis based on an examination, not what the person told the doctor they were there for.
This doctor knows all of this.
The other doctor knows all of this.
And both set's of lawyers know all of this.
This doctor is also fully aware of what she is doing when she rewords what the lawyer is asking her. Example; "throwing a bottle while running away"... that's not what was asked and IMO her intent is obvious at this point.

The instructions of the test even stated that precisely following established procedure is of the utmost importance for accurate results. There was a couples therapist who testified before in this case, and she told the lawyers that Depp would mess with her by walking out and making her think she was being abandoned.
I can imagine constantly and deliberately walking out on someone to enjoy their freak out as abusive. Amber screams and groans during one of those recordings sounds like hystical fear, like she's terrified of being left alone, losing his love. She seems convinced that it's a threat to her, like she's back to being a helpless child that will starve and die without love.
But that's not the abuse she talks about 🤔 even though there's clear proof for that. She talks about physical violence that she didn't record, injuries idn't let anyone see, even people who are paid to be inches from her face.
I don't think she's even capable of talking about the real hurt he caused, but she feels harmed so she's spinning it up into what she knows will scandalise. No one will take mental torment seriously? She'll translate it into physical violence and punch it up to the level of outrage she thinks she is owed. And she had to defend it doggedly because she cannot back down or admit lies, it would be ego death.

I can get myself diagnosed with PTSD on a test like that. Anyone with half a brain knows which answers help you score high on a simple test like this (especially if you've previously bothered to google the most common tests and know how their scoring works and the administering psychologist isn't even skeptical of you). It's much tougher to manipulate a complex personality test where the scoring method is much less obvious and it's tougher to know how each question will affect the final results.
They might as well just asked her whether she had PTSD and called that a test. In case of a personality test, however, it could go in a variety of different ways... it's not just as simple as "do you have mental issues and how frequent or severe are they?" The questions are more general and there is a wide variety of results that they could lead to.

The one and only possibility I can see where this doc comes out of that point winning is if she meant long-term childhood trauma. In that case, there are differences between the type of PTSD someone experiences from prolonged childhood trauma versus a primary traumatic incident in adulthood. However, those differences are usually denoted by a different diagnosis name. When there's only one or two traumatic incidents, it's called PTSD. When there's a prolonged period of mild to moderate trauma with little to no rest between incidents, it's called Complex PTSD (or 'cPTSD'). That's where the doc loses on this point, since she insists Amber has PTSD rather than cPTSD. A child that experiences a single traumatic incident will have PTSD symptoms very similar to their adult counterparts. That clip is INCREDIBLY obvious. The trial should end right there. I had a close friend who was verbally abused by their father. I overheard them accidentally one night because they were on the phone with me and their dad walked in and started berating them, and it sounded almost EXACTLY like that clip. "I'm not being mean to you, you're just being too sensitive. You need to grow up". THAT is something an abuser says, not a victim. Johnny is obviously the victim here. Furthermore you can tell from body language. Yes he is a more timid person naturally and she is a more stoic person naturally. But even still, looking at the two who do you think is abusive? The woman with a stern, angry face who barely changes her posture, or the man who is shrinking himself as he speaks, almost like he's scared?

@@__________8997 Until something changes my mind, I am of the opinion that Amber Heard was THE abuser in her relationship with Depp. However, I think a lot of people in these comments have never experienced abuse or been around an abuser or an abuse victim. So many people making categorical claims about what a victim would or wouldn't do or what an abuser would or wouldn't do and that just isn't how the world works. Abuse victims can say some crazy shit some times to their abuser and from my experience both the victim and the abuser have some mental health problems that work together in a very dangerous and unhealthy but symbiotic way. I agree with you fully that a victim can get to a breaking point, but even before a breaking point a victim can still sometimes look like the abuser from an outside perspective. From what I've personally seen a victim can know fully that their actions don't dictate when the abuser will become violent. They don't hold back their own form of verbal retaliation because regardless of what they say if tonight is the night that the abuser is angry then tonight is the night, and likewise if tonight isn't the night then nothing will happen and the victim will appear to be lashing out, screaming, potentially threatening someone who is calm and apologetic and trying to please the victim or lull them back in. So, yes, sometimes a victim will say some crazy shit to their abuser and not fear the oncoming abuse any more or less than they already did. Sorry for lengthy rant, just had to say this somewhere b/c I've seen a ton of posts saying that a victim would never do "this" or say "that" and it just doesn't fit with what I've seen.

Throw in alcohol & forget it. Don’t reproduce if you were abused. Don’t get a dog, either. You can have sex without bringing children in the picture that you WILL abuse & traumatize, even if you don’t want to. It’s possible you won’t abuse, but very unlikely. So, I wanna make a clear distinction between the first Psychological Expert and the second.
When the first was being deposed on the stand, there was no point where she wasn't factual, forward, clear, and professional in her responses. I can't recall any instances where she deliberately tried to rephrase the question and sidestep it, other than clarifying clear errors in the logic of the question being asked to keep her responses, therefore, from being biased.
In her deposition, she even actively refers to her examination and her report that she made as a reference point, and was able to break down her evaluation and her conclusions with real, repeatable tests that are a part of her field.
The second, on the other hand, has actively dodged questions, rephrased them, and so far has offered almost nothing in terms of factual responses related to her job, but rather a series of responses related to her examinations of Amber's reports and *only* Amber's reports of abuse. And, of course, it all feels disingenuous, and even more so considering her background, as laid out by Depp's Lawyer, and her own admissions regarding the kinds of cases she covers.
I doubt that the second evaluator is going to win many points with the jury, tbh. The difference is so stark that it feels strange to have to point it out.

there is another distinction I would make. the first has been practicing for 15 years, yet the research and methods she uses are up to date, and she cites research done by other psychologists. She is an expert in the treatment of PTSD, the treatment of which is based on current practices which are far superior to any thing from before. she bases her diagnoses on the subject being evaluated.
The second psychologist has been practicing for 30 years and her theories are based on our understanding of psychology from 30 years ago, before many of the diagnoses being discussed really existed. She bases her diagnostic decisions on her own research, and forces her subjects to fit into those predetermined roles.

I had a girlfriend like Amber once. All doubt that she hit him vanished from my mind the moment she called him a baby in that first recording. She was trying to make him feel small. she still shows a ton of signs of her lying. she could just be nervous being in front of all those people but the signs are still there in her body language. also somebody who has PTSD can't really be in a environment with the thing that triggers it. she could probably be PTSD free for a day or so but multiple hours and during many days nah i think she should have shown more signs of it.

She's definitely lying. There are audio tapes of conversations between the 2 of them that contradict lots of what she's saying. And there's a recording of her telling Johnny precisely what she's going to do - if he doesn't give her what she wants in the divorce (and outrageous and un-doable amount,) then she'll accuse him of domestic abuse and nobody will believe him when he tries to deny it. Her body language shows that she's lying, too - lots of blinking and eye fluttering, and many other signs. (there are some things on youtube you can watch)

@@19ryuusei yeah i hate psychologists. i think they over exaggerate mental problems to often. in this case i'm pretty sure she was paid to do so. but in other cases they just throw depression and anxiety diagnoses left and right. so many people go in with a minor depression or feelings of anxiety. nothing serious but then they get prescribed anti depressants that have the side effect of actually giving you depression. so these fragile people with small manageable mental problems are now stuck in a loop of being dependent on the medicin to keep them sane.

I've been dx with PTSD based entirely on recurring flashbacks, debilitating life symptoms, starting in childhood.
BUT the impact of what I suffered was apparent. My doctors all asked if I had a history of trauma based on the descriptions I was giving about my mental health. I didn't know where it was coming from. You don't always know where it's coming from, and it usually compounds on top of other trauma and amplifies the symptoms.
I hate that they show she has no discernable loss of function in her daily life, which of course is not required for PTSD, but it is a slap in the face for real survivors that do have to struggle to get through the day alive. Some of us don't make it through the day. JD is lucky he survived and I hope all she inflicted on him can be healed.

It is humiliating, doing work the wrong way, knowing you're supposed to be writing the information down, making notations on a document, and then either through laziness or intentionally, leaving those forms blank. She had to do a simple task to create accurate documentation and CHOSE not to, even though she was aware it would be looked at later. Just reaks of the level of actual professionalism this woman has. no, medical notes are not medical records. a medical record is literally that, a record. it has a date and time and also a report of the patient's medical state (be it mental or physical, depending on the context). A medical note is, again, just that, a note. e.g. you go to the doctor, he checks your eyes, and he writes a medical NOTE that you might need glasses. That's just something to be NOTED. But the medical records won't say you need glasses because that's not the diagnosis.

It does not make sense.
