For the last two or three decades the broadcasters “big-up” the audience sound, i.e. it was nothing like as loud as what they broadcast it as. Tragic, shouldn’t be allowed.
Thom's delivery of "This is what you'll get, when you mess with us" is one of the most chilling moments in pop history. It's phrased in such a gentle way and underscored with an elegant piano melody but brimming with aggression and menace at the same time. You can feel the anger beneath the words.
+Mr. StewforyouGames I don't mean the shiny manufactured Justin Bieber Pop garbage. Radiohead to me are pop in the same sense that Nirvana were pop. They had charting hits and videos on MTV, and their music breached the mainstream instead of remaining in the underground. But Pop is dead anyway, so who cares about labels?
Exactly, people say this is depressing, i could feel a powerful life in this song, it's so chilling, beautiful, wicked, greatest, lovely, beautiful just everything you could expect from a song, but it's ok they will realise someday
+paranoidandroid1997 I couldn't agree with you more. Both have amazing falsetto, I could easily imagine Thom pulling off Demon Days covers and Damon pulling off In Rainbows covers... That would be pretty cool experiment. Or just a collab album. Either way, I'm on board.
i wish this could be the only evidence that we have once existed, i feel like this represents exactly what humanity is when we all get together for good
I've been listening to this song for more than 15 years and I still like it like the first time. I think it is the huge difference between these bands and the popular ones.
This has to be my favourite Radiohead song. The melody and the lyrics and the chords are just perfect to me. Especially the part near the end, still sends shivers down my spine and goosebumps through my skin, mesmerising. "For a minute there, I lost myself"
I can only agree with you :P I was in the crowd and never felt so much goosebumps since again... It's been nearly 10 years now but still... yep, greatest live show I've ever witnessed.
I was there with my friends. What this video doesn’t show is the best part, just after the song finished, Thom Yorke sang back to the crowd a capella « for a minute there, I lost myself, I lost my self » it was magic.
No, the original song is "Arrest this man, He talks in maths", I believe that Thom accidentally said "Arrest this girl, He talks in Maths" by accident. He said girl accidentally and then proceeded with the proper lyrics after realizing he made a mistake. Professional of him to continue with the proper lyrics.
T Bone yea I agree and now the real lyrics but my second theory is he did it on purpose cause like the Mona Lisa has no eyebrows this song was to perfect to nat have any mistakes in it. Likely there is no perfect and you can see where I’m going. Ah we talk in math, let’s stop talk falsely now the hour is getting late 😜👌⚠️
I absolutely love this concert and this song from the show in particular. I literally have over 700 songs from Radiohead including 25 live shows, but I didn't fully understand how moving their music could be until I saw the videos from Glastonbury '03. I feel like life makes sense after this. THANK YOU FOR POSTING!
The way he sings his songs , making the voice and tone fit the story he’s telling from the character telling it is absolute class! Sometimes people tell me ah shame about his singing it’s a bit ropey! Those people just don’t get it !
Ive always dreamed a collaboration Thom and Damon Albarn. I loved Thom's collab with Björk "I lost myself" chills, every time. The crowd was on point too. Wow. Radiohead♡
radio head has very good songs .. but this song makes me feel like no other song... i dont know i i heard this song in a bad moment of my life but its amazig
The crowd makes it more impactful and Tom’s longing voice makes it so more frightening. This is a marvel.. this is sublime and indescribable to the human … or to truly capture in a little comment section. It’s beyond all of us
This was an awesome gig - they played this just before the encore - the audience were still singin "for a minute there i lost myself" - Thom cam back and sang a capella with us. what a moment.
This was the best gig I've ever been at and this was one of the finest moments of it. The crowd singing the band back onstage for their encore still sends shivers down my spine...! Wow! Thanks for posting...and bringing back those memories...!
I told you theirs no other greatest song from the key A minor better than karma police and one of the greatest song the world could ever get, good bless radiohead
This is the first and the last song I listened since I knew my grandpha pass away. 3 days in his funeral and all I did was sleep, eat, cry and listen this song. he pass away 9 months ago so I still broken.
That subtle smile though.. right after he plays the very first chord. Just exemplifies perfectly whats amazing about this song..and music in general. Glorious.
It's almost like there's something sweeter It's almost like, rather than beeing in front of them, against them, he's with them, we're together and we're singing it together, winking at each other cause we know what it is all about, something that makes sense and that is worth it. Farewell Yorke, and welldone. Thanks Radiohead, we won't forget you for a very very very long and ever longer time.
2:35 a alguien más se le revolvió el estómago con esa parte? no soy fans de esta banda, pero esta parte descalabra a cualquiera. La tremenda mente del vocalista pa canalizar tantas emociones.
I was there too! Sat the whole day at the top of the hill in front of the pyramid stage. Beautiful weather, beautiful music! A weekend I will never forget as long as I live.
My favo(u)rite part of this is after the first “this is what you’ll get”, you can hear people cheering, like they can hear how incredible everyone sounds singing in unison.
check out Ed at 3:38 ! Looking back to Phil like "how good do we sound right now?!?!" Thoughts - best version of Karma Police ever?? I've been watching this for years, I reckon it is! Happy for someone to suggest one that's better!
agreed! i love this performance. the crowd is awesome here. it was the same when they played this song when they toured 2 years ago er so to debut some of their new songs here in toronto, so badass
"Karma Police" Karma police, arrest this man He talks in maths He buzzes like a fridge He's like a detuned radio Karma police, arrest this girl Her Hitler hairdo is Making me feel ill And we have crashed her party This is what you get This is what you get This is what you get when you mess with us Karma police I've given all I can It's not enough I've given all I can But we're still on the payroll This is what you get This is what you get This is what you get when you mess with us For a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself Phew, for a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself For a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself Phew, for a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself
That moment when the crowd drowns out Thom with "And for a minute there I lost myself" might be the greatest thing I've ever witnessed on RUclips.

The greatest thing in youtube is the solo of "comfortably numb" nothing's better than that to be honest
Yep
Absolutely chilling!
For the last two or three decades the broadcasters “big-up” the audience sound, i.e. it was nothing like as loud as what they broadcast it as. Tragic, shouldn’t be allowed.
2:35 "For a minute there" gives me a chills. Best moment on the whole fuc*ing youtube!

I would be emotional if I was there
I would have fainted if I had been there
yeah mate, it feels like something that makes everyone's life make sense while dying lost's its sense (?? lol but yeah)
hadesoffff I was there and it was one of the best days of my life!
Ed's backing vocals are so haunting
he just plays the mood of that song. love him.
Doesnt get any better than 50,000+ people singing "FOR A MINUTE THERE , I LOST MYSELF!!!"... Beautiful..
So many years I've been listening this song and that last section of the song still sends chills down my spine.
Me too i swear
Especially live. I need to see these guys live
Yes. The fade out is the best fade out I've ever heard

+Silver Snail14 I see what you're saying but Nirvana wasn't similar to Radiohead past The Bends.
+maskei Agreed. I meant more in terms of stature than musical style.
Exactly, people say this is depressing, i could feel a powerful life in this song, it's so chilling, beautiful, wicked, greatest, lovely, beautiful just everything you could expect from a song, but it's ok they will realise someday

Yes! That's my favorite part of the song ❤
This song will never get old
Never..
I really love how Thomas gets really into his music. He's such a great vocalist.
And they're such a great band.
Great performance.

Love how the crowd got involved into the song 🎧
Ive always dreamed a collaboration Thom and Damon Albarn. I loved Thom's collab with Björk
paranoidandroid1997 Thom and Paul mccartney, instead of collaborating with gay fish and rihanna

So much yes
Thom’s collaboration with PJ Harvey was also really great.
i wish this could be the only evidence that we have once existed, i feel like this represents exactly what humanity is when we all get together for good
I couldn't even think this song without Ed. Such a huge difference he creates all the time! I love Radiohead with its all faces! What a band!
