This woman's voice is an instrument, knows to use her vocal talent to convey all the emotions that you feel when you listen to her and she is a magnificent artist!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Ok, here are Rachelle's albums: Her first commercial album is called simply Rachelle Ferrell, produced mostly by the late great George Duke. This song is on that album, {even though there is a band onstage this is backing track is from the album version}; the guy is just a guy from the audience. Other albums: First Instrument, Live in Montreux, Individuality (Can I Be Me?). She did a lot of background vocals on George Duke albums from the 90's and 2000's. If you aren't familiar with George Duke, get busy. So many albums to his name. A stellar musician, producer, songwriter and singer. Sheila E was in his band for several years and he was in Frank Zappa's band for many years. If I am correct Rachelle does not currently have a deal with a record label. They don't know what to do with her. She's not for everyone but you can't deny her talent. There are a lot of live performances on RUclips from various festivals and concerts. Check them out.
Watch you all the time love your appreciation for music , Rachelle Ferrell is awesome you have to hear alot more of her music , over the years she has become more of a jazz artist.
She’s absolutely incredible. I agree that her voice is a acquired taste. She’s absolutely amazing. I think you would like some of her performances of “My funny valentine.”
Anita Baker joined her in stage at concert in Detroit and the two of them just riffed, both played keyboard and overall had fun, crowd went nuts, is YT video somewhere. She also payed tribute to Anita at Soul Train awards a few years ago with all star cast
She has no equal when it comes to the voice as an instrument. I agree: she's A LOT. But just amazing. Her duet with Will Downing (Nothing Has Ever Felt Like This) is a must if you just want to hear her pure voice without the extras 😊
Great reaction 👍 Ms Farrell is a MONSTER vocalist. A Master of masters. Listen to Deniece Williams sing "God Is Amazing" live, a capella at 1985 Grammy Awards. Listen also to Minnie Riperton sing "Can You Feel What I'm Saying" (LIVE performance). Watch Stephanie Mills sing "Home", live at the Apollo Theatre. And lastly, watch Jennifer Holliday sing "And I Am Telling You", live at the 1982 Tony Awards. Four truly great performances.
She studied music in Europe. Everything she does is intentional. Yes, it can be over the top, but it's impressive none the less. Her entire first CD, where this video is from, is very good. She was a lot more reserved in the studio on that CD.
I can’t find anywhere that she studied music in Europe. I saw where she received classical training in violin and the piano at an early age and was performing professionally on both instruments and as a vocalist as a teenager. After enrolling in the Berklee College of Music, and graduating a year later, having learned arrangement and developing her abilities in singing and songwriting, she secured a position teaching music for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts alongside Dizzy Gillespie. Berklee College of Music is a private music college in Boston, Massachusetts. So I’m confused.
There is another artist Miki Howard she has a beautiful voice also.alot of these artist never got the recognition they should have and it's many more...
Callie Day is the bomb! She has live performances on RUclips, including a rehearsal performance that blew up. She appeared on America's Got Talent as well. So unknown tragically.
You should try some blue eye soul. Listen to Tina Marie Deja vu/out in a lime and duet with Rick James fire and desire….. her voice is magical… she has a lot beautiful hits…. And I love your reactions ❤
TEENA Marie. Out ON a LIMB. Teena was the real deal! Also check out Casanova Brown, Dear Lover, Portuguese Love, Dear Mr. Gaye, and Tune in Tomorrow. That's just some of her ballads. Let me know if you want a list of her funky songs.
@@Roshon1114 all his reactions are first time was he supposed to jump up and start screaming lmao 🙄. She’s not most people’s cup of tea hence why she doesn’t have much mainstream success regardless of how talented she is.
I have literally been waiting for this reaction since you started your channel ❤❤❤❤ FYI the guy in the audience was an usher or doorman at the theater.
You described at the end exactly how I feel about her lol. She’s a legend with an alien like voice, but not my cup of tea when I want to get lost in music. Her whistle was really wild here. Impressive! Just wild 😂
I had heard of Rochelle but I believe I might have heard one of her songs but that help her help that note was so long I have to find out more about Rochelle
BTW: Anita Baker and Rachelle Ferrell are friends. Apropos of nothing. I get the Anita comparison with Rachelle's lower register but her whistle notes are mind blowing.
Betty Wright was the real deal as well. She produced Joss Stone's first album. RIP. If we're talking whistle notes then we need to discuss Minnie Riperton. Mariah Carey cites her as a major influence. She passed from cancer in 1979. There's a ton of her recordings on RUclips. She is Maya Rudolph's mother, btw. I recommend her albums Perfect Angel, Stay in Love, Adventures in Paradise, and Les Fleurs. Her biggest pop radio hit was a song called Loving You. There are live versions of that on RUclips.
I promise you There is No Other Rochell was a child prodigy she worked with some of Thee most Great Jazz people. You will not hear anything close to this in your life ever again.
I wish you would listen to Angela Winbush song It Doesn't Matter smile or even angel I just love the way you do your testing if there's something you like you take it right back and that's the good thing about watching you
Just AMAZING. She is the Goddaughter to the LATE GREAT GEORGE DUKE. React to Anita Baker- Perfect Love Affair. Love yoyr reactions, BUT I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE from MS. ARETHA "REEREE" FRANKLIN ❤
And if you want to hear an non-human sustained note, you've got to watch Elkie Brooks Live 2009 - Baby, What You Want Me To Do uploaded by Dean Brindley. Be sure to turn on your timer, you won't believe it ! Not the best audio quality but the sustained note makes you forget it.
Thank you for mentioning Angela Winbush. She is the BOMB! She was in a duo called Rene and Angela. You could react to My First Love, You Don't Have to Cry, and Your Smile by them. She is also a solo artist, musician and producer. I also recommend Angel, No One Has Ever Cared (Like You), You Had a Good Girl, Lay Your Troubles Down (duet with Ron Isley), and her version of I've Learned to Respect the Power of Love, which she wrote for Stephanie Mills. Stephanie's version is stellar too. The other singer's name is OLETA Adams. Her album The Rhythm of Life is SO GOOD! Probably her biggest hit was her cover of Get Here written by the sorely overlooked Brenda Russell. Brenda also has a version of that song. Her biggest hit is Piano in the Dark but her albums are really good. She also wrote If Only for One Night covered by Luther Vandross. Happy listening.
Rachelle’s vocal styling is not to everyone’s liking. She has the tendens to go overboard at times. However, what is not in question is her talent. As a pianist and vocalist. Great performance!
It's jazz...not necessarily overboard. She's not R&B. Jazz is about vocalizing instruments You may enjoy her studio performances (album). She sings more straight
You should check out a British singer named Alice Russell and an American singer named Morgan James. I think you might like them. Rachelle isn't for everyone but I'm totally down for her. Have been since I first heard her.
I love that people are discovering and rediscovering this woman! She is a very underrated treasure!
.....love her....she is .....another dimension of performance.....
Its criminal that she is so underrated. Thank you for reacting to queen of vocals.
She chose to make weird noises instead of singing. I don't see why she should be popular
This performance is over 30 years old...just an FYI
She's a phenomenal pianist
"I Can Explain" (live) Vienne, France is another great performance by her
Insane
Rachelle= BEAST MODE!!

Angela Winbush’s song “Learned to Respect the Power of Love” she hits a note for 26 seconds! Beautiful song! But Ms. Farrell is in a class of her own!
Great Reaction; She's a Very Unique; and Great Talent.🔥🔥🔥
Damn, how big are her lungs to hold those notes that long?
As you can tell, she's a jazz singer.

Yes, that video was fun. I saw that some time ago. That E6 note Anita Baker hit shocked me.

@@jobuck879 I was wrong. She toured Europe after studying at Berkeley. You're correct. Sorry that confused you so badly.

Thank you! So much for doing Rachel❤, highly underrated.
Rachelle is a unique talent. Her vocal style isn’t really my taste, but I can’t deny she’s a vocal beast. Her range is crazy!
She’s a phenom on the keys…looking forward to you selecting and reacting to more of her please….
Vocal beast. Celine Vocal beast
There is another artist Miki Howard she has a beautiful voice also.alot of these artist never got the recognition they should have and it's many more...
They got recognition, but when you sing like this you don’t reach mainstream success. That’s why she only had few chart hits
Callie Day is another diamond in the rough vocalist that is just incredible
