    Anyone else binge watching Michael Redmond commentaries?

      He is so amazingly thorough and equally honest. A humble fellow. But key is that he explains pro thinking in ways that most commentaries gloss over.

    I got to meet Sakata at the NY go club around 1986. I asked him to sign a book I had with his picture on it, which he did, but said (through an interpreter) “I didn’t write this book.” He was a pleasant man.

    Deeply engrossing and thorough. Almost brazenly honest about mistakes. Many thanks Michael.

    I'm thinking of just constantly running him doing commentary in the background of my day. He is such a calming influence in my life! Michael and Bob Ross, man...

    Michael, thank you very much for making these reviews! There is very little comprehensive go related video material online in the English language. I hope you will go down in history books not only as a very strong player, but also as a great teacher and popularizer of this wonderful game in the Western world.

    I would be interested in a video concerning the 3-6 invasion! It seems super practical considering the large knights move enclosure and the high two point enclosure are gaining popularity! I'd love to see more about the application of that invasion. Thanks for the amazing game analysis, always super enjoyable!

    God damn, your commentaries are so awesom. Glad to see you on youtube, can't wait to see more games

    I love this game and commentary. Especially the background you give for example around 19:00 makes the game much more interesting. I also like this style of video more then streams where you have to read comments during the game.

    Subbed and liked because I love your commentary, but also because I can see how this loss still pains you. It was a big game and you did really well. I'm not surprised at all that you woke the sleeping giant.

    This is a comment copy from another video but I love it suits this
    "Every other Go player youtuber/twitch streamer ->This is a game I play against Rufus and Dufus
    Michael Redmond ->This is a game I played against Sakata Eio/Takemiya Masaki/Cho Chikun

    Michael do you know where I might be able to read or watch an interview with Sakata Eio? I know he lived until 2010 so there must be something. Thanks 😊

    I'm sure I'm missing something here, but doesn't white D1 at the end force Black G1, taking away 1 point?

    • @MichaelRedmondsGoTV
      @MichaelRedmondsGoTV  3 года назад +2

      Correct. It is customary not to include dame points in the game record, so that was not in the video, but was a part of the score calculation. Note that there is another point at P2 where White will eventually need to add a stone.

      In the end it doesnt change anything because ai makes errors too so humans are starting to play more and more like humans again, they just focus more on points and sente

    This commentary was awesome. Do you have any ways to improve my opening

    • @MichaelRedmondsGoTV
      @MichaelRedmondsGoTV  4 года назад +4

      Looking at high level games helps, and the question is if you want to memorize games of a favorite player and then start your own games with a particular opening, or if you don't like the idea of memorization you can just play through a lot of games to get an intuitive grasp of the game.

    26:33 why not 13 at P18?

    • @MichaelRedmondsGoTV
      @MichaelRedmondsGoTV  4 года назад

      Easiest is for white to simply capture four stones in the center and the corner will be Seki or sometimes a ko but good for white in any case
