solid review
Thanks man. It is a 3 year old watch, but I enjoyed making the video!
Very nice review :) I've bought the 2x Solar and I absolutely love it. I use it to track my hikings, walkings and gym sessions
Nice! When you're tracking your hiking, do you notice your battery life draining way faster?
Very interesting review, thanks! I just ordered the Instict 2 solar, it seems to be the perfect combination of a solid GPS watch and a rugged g-shock.
Mine arrives today. Paid $175 new. You can get dozens of watch bands of various colors and patterns for around $10.
Holy smokes that's sick. Where'd you get that deal?
Yes, were did you get a deal like that??
Thank you for this. I'm kinda new to the smartwatch/ fitness tracker space? Last 2 years. I have yet to find one that I LOVE or really attached to? I have recently purchased a Garmin Fenix 7x
Gonna try and get to love it the way that you do your Instinct Solar
Glad it was helpful!
Me and my buddy had one each. I wore it for year and half and loved it. Then around 2022 not sure if happened after an update but started to shut down randomly. Alarm would trigger shut down as well as pulse ox measure. Still broken even after garmin pushed software update. I’m very frustrated. Went and bought g-shock gw 5610 because I don’t want to deal with anything that has software updates anymore.
P.S. my buddy’s watch is still running strong to this day so I guess I was one of the lucky few (actually quite a lot of watches failed the same way around the same time)
Dang that sucks. Just a bad batch of them I suppose. How are you liking the g shock
I have the same tweek...sort of...mine just starts vibrating until I turn it off. And you must of got a good battery cause mine stopped charging after a year. Now I go 36 hours in between charges. Think I need a new battery or I need to figure out what setting I have on that needs to be turned off. Thanks for the review.
I’ve read another reviews that the instinct has a problem with random shutdowns. You ever experienced this? Guessing you would’ve mentioned it in the review, but thought I’d ask.
Also, is that an aftermarket watchband? If so, where do you get it? Can you put in a link?
Thanks, enjoyed the review.
I put the link for the bands in, definitely the comfiest I had.
And nope, never had problems with random shut downs, thank God.
Guys, battery lasts for weeks! WEEKS. But when it is empty, I better take my charger that I take everywhere with me lol
lol, you're right but... because the watch goes on forever you simply forget to charge it in time. I get that with my amazfit gtr47
I like how beat the watch is. Gives it character. You get many scratches on the screen?
Thanks, I love it. Not really any scratches.. The outside plastic that encompasses the screen keeps it far enough away that it doesn't really scratch. There is a ton of little spots on it from sparks, when I was using a metal grinder. Since then, I've learned to rotate the watch so that it's on the inside of my wrist while doing that. haha
Awesome I wear the 2x solar tactical on the inside of my wrist, the only problem I'm have is the watch seems to disconnect alot randomly
I am a commercial hot air balloon pilot by trade , hot air balloon navigation is totally hard labour both mentally and physically , unlike a conventional airplane we don't have control surfaces and an engine to maintain our heading if we want to go let's say 150° we can't simply manipulate a lever and change our heading we have to fight for it and get the correct wind to direct us to a safe landing zone.So navigational backups are really crucial for us.I don't need to see what the time or what the time is at home like a suit wearing Airbus pilot looking at his shiny Rolex GMT ( i can afford it it doesn't matter ) i don't give a fuck to what time it is , i need real flight data and i need lots of it with the glance of an eye by looking at a real instrument on my wrist.I am a user of the first generation Solar tactical , i used this tool as a primary flight instrument more than i want to remember while flying over some really hostile environments like part of Sahara and other locations. It gives me my heading , my speed , my deviation from the target ( so i can take necassary corrective actions ) , my glide ratio , my vertical speed ( alarms programmable for ascent and descent rates ) my barometric altitude ( gps altitude as well separately if wanted and calibration is possible) , sunrise and sunset times and many many programmable advence features i cant tell one by one here.I can pull my civilian and military coordinates so if i happen to make a forced landing somewhere in the desert i can inform both authorities and it does all those things in a mil spec feather weight body which easily survived unforgiving balloon cockpit which is notorious love destructive for fine things like an expensive shiny watch. So this is the report of a working Pilot with the device , you can decide on your own about the rest.

"COMMERCIAL" hot air balloon pilot?? Like for giving people rides or what??
Could we hop on a call and talk about this?
I’ve had the same experience.
Good video 👍
Thank you, Hope to see you again!
Alarm set at 4:20, eh??
Haha... Yeah! I start in the office at 5am. It was a 30 minute commute. It took me about 10 minutes to go from my bed to my truck. So 4:20am alarm. Now I live 3 minutes from the shop. But I get up at 4:20 anyway 😄
No the solar feature makes the watch usable without it's not worth it
The Garmin Instinct is a fantastic watch and function wise pretty much the holy grail of any digital watch lover. However, the design has become boring and is completely outdated, Garmin needs to make something really cool sci-fi/retro/futuristic looking (take a look at the Timex Command Shock for a good example), something in a rectangular 16:9 widescreen format. And please get rid of that stupid circle in the upper right corner it is entirely pointless in a MIP watch and WAY too much Casio'ish (G-Shock'ish).
All versions are just too boring looking
After three years mine random turns off. won't be buying another
