I Have Never Seen A NBA Prospect Like Bronny James

  • Bronny James is a NBA prospect like no other. #nba
Over the years, I have made videos tracking LeBron James Jr., Bronny.
But I have never seen a more confusing prospect than this.
And now he got drafted to the Lakers, congratulations to Bronny!
We’ve seen Michael Jordan’s son Marcus get to the college stage a bit off of name too and then fizzle out and even he averaged more points.
Bronny shouldn’t be here, and yet his potential has always been sky high, enough to validate contention. We’ll get to his upside but Bronny wasn’t ready for the NBA draft, he should have never declared, yet he would have developed into a NBA player. So how good is Bronny actually?
At first, Bronny was compared to his dad LeBron. But even at 15, it was apparent that while they may have similar traits ad tendencies of high IQ basketball, getting players involved, LeBron was a freak athlete that Bronny just didn’t develop into, nor did Bronny play in systems where he was the main option. The only thing that was better was his jumpshot but that isn’t saying the most.
Bronny didn’t show much during his high school years, buried under other NBA prospects like Brandon Boston Jr. and Amari Bailey.
but he was always well regarded.
College was his chance to finally show a bit of growth in his game, while he physically stopped growing and ended at 6’ 3”, that was a lie 6’ 1.5”, everyone wanted to see his athleticism, his playmaking, just him doing more than 15 minutes a night.
We were robbed of the opportunity to see what Bronny was capable of because a majority of the season was spent in Bronny just working his way back after a hiatus without being able to train with the team before the season. His subpar averages of 4.8 points on 36% from the field, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, alright is anyone going into the draft with these averages, what? But we couldn’t definitively be attributed to his game or his health.
I can’t definitely say that Bronny is or isn’t an NBA prospect. This draft class has also been considered by many to be weak.
But there’s a narrative that LeBron, that Klutch sports want to fulfill. LeBron and Bronny being the first father son duo in NBA history to play at the same time. And for that to happen, Bronny needed to be in the draft this year, at least since LeBron doesn’t know exactly when his last season would be and that this goal has seemingly been the driving force.
And that’s what has me a bit angry. Because what should have happened was Bronny staying an additional year at USC. Working his way up through the draft rankings through his play.
It’s not like he had no shot. In fact, I think some of the stuff we’ve seen from Bronny look incredible.
His on-ball defense was suffocating. Essentially, he played winning basketball, made the right plays. Despite the not crazy 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals, no advanced stats in high school so this looks alright, he was 20th in his class, seemed like a late first round pick by several scouts. They liked everything he was bringing to the game.
In fact, in high school, he was actually ahead of Reed Sheppard, close to Rob Dillingham, both of which would be drafted in the lottery this year.
And in some key matchups Bronny outperformed some of the top guys in this year’s draft, like at the Nike Hoop Summit when he played for the Team USA select team vs world, going at Risearcher, the eventual number one overall pick, a game filled with eventual first round picks, Ron Holland, Jared McCain, Isaiah Collier. **and Bronny looked like he belonged. Playing great perimeter defense
That doesn’t make him the better prospect but it shows his capabilities.
If you watch the USC games, you can see that Bronny just wasn’t well incorporated in the offense, probably due to the late start. USC’s top recruit that year was another guard Isaiah Collier, so Bronny was going to be the focal point. And as USC coach Andy Enfield would say aftergames, “We just went with our veterans down the stretch, but he has continued to improve as a player.”
But also, he was playing more off-ball, as a combo guard. His handles were good, but not great. His shot looked good, but fluky. Soft touch around the rim but not consistent. His defense, yeah that was there.
But Bronny, even when he had a start for USC was unable to really create too much offense.
Yes he made the right plays, passes off mismatches, but it wasn’t him creating problems for the defense.
Now in the NBA, he’ll be able to develop behind the scenes, but will he get enough reps in? Will he be able to improve in game? It hurts him at the stage he’s in.
Maybe I’m in the minority but I think Bronny could’ve made it in the NBA if he had just gotten a chance to improve. ****But now it’s always gonna be LeBron got his son drafted. He’s living in his dad’s shadow. He doesn’t deserve that. He seems like a great person and has handled the pressure so well. Let him make his own name because he’s capable of it.

nah man! its crazy. i agree with you, i think that he woulve made it into the NBA on his own, maybe after 2 more years. Right now he is not ready and this is all because lebron wants it. i think that the kid has potential and even more maturity than lebron. the way he has handled all of this has been top notch, but this next season will be a wakeup call and i feel really sorry for him because his dad made everything harder for him and maybe just maybe even ruin it for him.

I have nothing against, Bronny. Seems like a nice kid. BUT, based PURELY on basketball talent. He has no business being in the NBA. He has very little business starting on a high-level D1 school. His heart attack has nothing to do with it. That kept him from training for about 2 months. This kid got NBA level training since he could walk. 2 months isn't going to be the difference between 4.8 pts/g and 25 pts/g. Nor shooting 26.7% and 38%. He will play as long as his father does. Then potentially finish out his rookie contract. Then be done.
Honestly, he shouldn't even be playing with his heart condition. Especially when he's already loaded for life. There's no reason to risk death for bball.

You have way more confidence in Bronny than I do. I don't even think he'll play out his rookie contract. I think once LeBron retires, Bronny will immediately be either traded, or most likely be sent down to the g-league for a few seasons. After a season or two, he'll likely be out of the NBA completely.

What I mean is that hes making logical decisions but his game isn't flowing well. So whats best for bronny is to get him good playtime, probably in the Lakers G league, and you watch his game smooth out. Its uncertain how good he'll become but I think he has what it takes.

And keep in mind, we all know over half those players at the combine won't even make the g league potentially. Let alone the NBA. Although to be fair with zone defenses being a thing, the Lakers might be able to hide Bronny on defense, but that means everyone else on the floor with him has to step up on defense, which includes his dad, LeBron. And given how LeBron tends to slack off on defense sometimes at his age, I don't see that happening.

This is why I don't think they should play Bronny significant minutes outside of garbage time during games until he earns them over time. He needs to be given the Kobe Bryant treatment, and ride the bench until he proves himself in practices and whatnot to earn more minutes. Not comparing Kobe to Bronny, but I'm just saying that making Bronny earn his minutes would not only help his development and confidence in the NBA as he develops his game, but it would also show his teammates and his competitors that he isn't just going to play significant minutes because of his dad.

I heard reports come out recently that Rich Paul has been telling people that Bronny James is a lockdown defender, and he could potentially be one of all time greats on defense. Now if Rich is willing to lie to people publicly like that about Bronny, it stands to reason he probably lied to Bronny James too. XD Maybe Bronny actually believes those lies that Rich and LeBron are telling him. Either that, or he probably sees the NBA as his birthright considering that's probably part of the lies his daddy is telling him. Either way, I do hope he proves people wrong because I know how much of a dream it is for people to play professional sports, and it would suck to see him be brought down to reality so quickly. However, I have a feeling that's exactly what's going to happen considering you have LeBron who sees Bronny as being better than he actually is, and you have a puppet head coach hand picked by LeBron. what have you explicitly seen lebron james jr do on a basketball court with your own eyes that would suggest he has a "high iq"????? you dont even realize that youre saying he has a high iq because there isnt actually anything noteworthy about his game. you are programmed to say something positive and cant see whats in front of your face

@@loopseeker exactly. basketball IQ is great, but it doesn't mean anything if you don't have the talent to back it up. We've seen top college players not work out in the NBA before, so it's not a stretch to have doubts about Bronny who didn't even have an average college career.

Lebron has single-handedly destroyed the sport that the true GOAT and the other greats that came before him built.
He has also single-handedly made the Lakers, the home that Kobe and the other Laker greats that came before him built, the biggest joke of a franchise in all of sports.

He's a solid and smart player. Ya'll going off of his half season at USC. He has the potential to continue to get better, especially being alongside with his Dad who is still playing at a high level. He'll be with him full time now. Imagine how good he can be if he's working out with Lebron and working just as hard and learning the game as opposed to only working out with his dad sometimes, he can be a DAWG.

I honestly hope you're right. Although I can't say I care for how both Bronny and his agent handled things, I am rooting for Bronny to prove everyone wrong. I don't think he will though because there's too many signs suggesting that both the Lakers and LeBron are setting Bronny up for failure just to appease LeBron's fantasy about playing alongside his son. However, I am rooting for him to succeed, but we'll see.

I am happy that Bronny James was drafted in the 2024 NBA Draft to the Los Angeles Lakers. Bronny James must now chase THE GOAT - Michael Jordan, because Bronny’s father failed to catch Michael Jordan. Desperate 40-YEAR-OLD senior citizen-LeBron James is refusing to retire because, after 21 long years, an ancient 40-YEAR-OLD LeBron James is still pathetically CHASING the “ghost in Chicago” aka The GOAT - Michael Jordan.

Can it Jordan stans. Jordan couldn’t put his sons in the nba. Just one more category where Bron owns Jordan. He was too busy gambling and playing soccer or whatever sport he played. Someone remind me again? Some of us forgot because we were too busy watching Scottie and team Krause make a playoff run without him. (Just to put Jordan’s impact into perspective 🤣🤣🤣)
