In a recent interview Ivan said he never heard Angelina sing before and did not know what to expect. The expressions on his face are genuine as this is the first time he is listening to Angelina sing. Ivan also noted he would lose concentration and make mistakes because he was mesmerized by her voice. He continued to say he knew he was in the presence of the next Super Star.

There is something that she does, something that voice does, that profoundly affects most of us, and no one, no one is able to explain exactly what that is. We only know that no other artist is able to do it. And it is addictive. We cannot get enough of it what ever it is. Something about that raspy smooth vibrato. Ivan Mendez felt it to, and it made it difficult for him to concentrate on playing the song.
many people said she does her vibrato in 3D. i never understood that until I listened to this performance. ex: 3:51 how she ends the '....know....' vibrato, rasp, breathy tone. all together producing the sweetest sound. magic.
Stay is one of my favorites from Angelina. The subtle details she is putting on this are just incredible. This is one that I believe you haven't even really heard until you have heard it at least 10 times. There is so much going on in there. I can understand your forgetting how good she is, but it's a little different for me. I never go long enough without listening to forget how good her voice is, but she has done so many high level performances, that it can take a long time to cycle through them all, and occasionally I will go a couple months with out hearing a certain one.... and then one day I hear it again and realize I had forgotten how good that one was. At the beginning you said you wanted to see what Angelina could do with this. The answer is that she can kill this song for anyone else. That is frequently true, and you should be aware of that by now even though you’re relatively new to her talent. Watch her version of Adele’s A Million Years Ago or Lana Del Ray’s Born to Die. You’ll know that Angelina’s version is now your favorite. She really is, right now at 15, clearly one of the best singers in the world. For me, she is the best I’ve ever heard, and her career is just beginning.

Ivan is in an almost impossible situation when he has to learn the songs in a really short time just before a videotake. He has a lot of musical skills, and we see and hear how great a team they are. Angelinas talent must have put a lot of pressure on him to deliver, and he did a great job for her.
Most Vocalists, sing the words, Angelina Tells the story of the Poet, Almost like Musical theater, but none of the flash. she has 1000 Voices, and knows when and where to let them out.
Ivan the guitarist said that when he was doing these recordings he would go around to her families house hang out all day, then she would pick a song and half an hour later they would record. That’s why you can occasionally see her checking the words.

This may be over the top, but I'm gonna say it..When l listen to most current singers, l sometimes hear quality sound, with vocal acrobatics, and with it l also hear the gradual slipping of humanity, replaced with superficial emotionality. Cheap, operatic mello drama, that temporarly fills a void. High skill levels, with no soul. Angelina is healing, bringing us back to our best selves. To me, she is the most real singer today.

Great reaction again Cliff. You should take a look at the interview with Ivan with Alan Papier, another Angelina reactor. Angelina calls him up, comes over to the house, hangs out with the family for a while and then she will suggest some songs she would like to do...almost spontaneously, and they sit down and that's it...maybe 2 takes, usually 1 take and there you are, an absolutely spectacular song. This is one of her most beautiful at this early age... 12 I believe. It is jus mind boggling the talent this young girl has. She is absolutely Brilliant.
Finally you got it right - "Are you ready? Im not ready" 😁 I bet alot of Angelinas fans smiled when you used to say 'Im ready', cause we knew you were not. Angelina has a modern airy voice with vibrato and excellent voice control. She can shift her voice from jazz to modern to blues/rock... Let’s see what she can do in 10 years!
I subscribed the day you discovered Angelina and will be watching and listening to every one of your reactions to her. Yes, she is very special. Have watched and listened to every one of her performances, and she never sings to draw attention to herself. Her whole focus is to tell the story in the lyrics and melody in such a way that the real meaning and emotions are communicated to the listener. There is no other singer who can do this.

Stunning performance as always. In my opinion she almost exclusively lifts covers to a higher level with her tone and soulfulness. There`s an x-factor about her also that i just can`t fully wrap my head around, in addition of course to her unrivalled talent. I kind of like that though, makes it even more interesting. My guess is that it has to do with the aura of kindness around her and the fact that she sort of brings me back to better times in terms of the music-scene with her retro-approach to her singing. The way she uses her arms and sometimes rolls back her eyes proves that she`s completely immersed in the song as well, just awesome. And awesome reaction as well, couldn`t agree more!!

I would love a concert with Angelina and a guitar. Simple yet beautiful. I seen Eric Clapton on his Journeyman tour and while the band took a break, he just sat on a chair with his guitar and played/sang for 1/2 an hour. I will always remember that, even though it was 30 years ago.
No one can do a heart piercing ballad like she does. Voice, inflections, tempo and a nuance that instinctively knows what the human soul craves is what she creates time after time. Think about it? She's in a simple room, with a guitarist just keeping time, and a microphone but nothing else. And the result is far superior to any other version done by anyone, including Rhianna.

Thank you for your reaction. If you liked this performance, you will also like Born to die, and a million years ago. They were both apparently recorded in the same session as this one, so the sound is comfortable. But both songs have more range and more nuances that will flip you out.
@Cliff Beats, You are absolutely correct. She does all her covers better than the original, in my biased opinion. I think it's because she sings the songs with feeling and emotion that touches us, and doesn't just 'sing'. Speaking of owning songs, wait until you react to her cover of the Bruno Mars/Adele song "All I Ask". I had never heard it before listening to Angelina sing it, so I went to Adele's video, and didn't make it half way through. I've always said, I think the songs whisper to Angelina and say "Sing us the way we were meant to be sung", and she does.
Bruno Mars version is so much better than Adele’s. Of course Bruno, Adele and two other composers/Lyricist put this together and Angelina owns this song! 🌺

Her covers during this period are especially fascinating after hearing interviews with Ivan and Egil. No real rehearsal. Basic home studio (with a great mic), Angelina frequently reading the lyrics, arrangement in her head, generally 1 or maybe 2 takes, nothing showy, and little editing and no effects. And she still sounds as good if not better than the original. One of a kind.
I love to watch Ivan’s expressions while she’s singing. He said they usually do these songs on one or two takes, so he’s sometimes hearing them for the first time, plus notice that often she is still reading the lyrics. How can she do that and still get so much feeling into them? It’s uncanny! Good reaction to our Angel!

This may be over the top, but I'm gonna say it..When l listen to most current singers, l sometimes hear quality sound, with vocal acrobatics, and with it l also hear the gradual slipping of humanity, replaced with superficial emotionality. Cheap, operatic mello drama, that temporarly fills a void. High skill levels, with no soul. Angelina is healing, bringing us back to our best selves. To me, she is the most real singer today.
You found another of my favorites. I never tire of this video and get chills and tears every time. I also love guitar (any kind!) and Ivan plays beautifully.

Great reaction again Cliff. You should take a look at the interview with Ivan with Alan Papier, another Angelina reactor. Angelina calls him up, comes over to the house, hangs out with the family for a while and then she will suggest some songs she would like to do...almost spontaneously, and they sit down and that's it...maybe 2 takes, usually 1 take and there you are, an absolutely spectacular song. This is one of her most beautiful at this early age... 12 I believe. It is jus mind boggling the talent this young girl has. She is absolutely Brilliant.

I subscribed the day you discovered Angelina and will be watching and listening to every one of your reactions to her. Yes, she is very special. Have watched and listened to every one of her performances, and she never sings to draw attention to herself. Her whole focus is to tell the story in the lyrics and melody in such a way that the real meaning and emotions are communicated to the listener. There is no other singer who can do this.
You would love Someone Like You...like all the other songs she does...it will pull you in...

How they did these songs in this home studio is unbelievable then, you realize we're talking about a musical prodigy. The interview is posted on RUclips, probably under Alan Papier, but possibly on Ivan's channel as well.

Stunning performance as always. In my opinion she almost exclusively lifts covers to a higher level with her tone and soulfulness. There`s an x-factor about her also that i just can`t fully wrap my head around, in addition of course to her unrivalled talent. I kind of like that though, makes it even more interesting. My guess is that it has to do with the aura of kindness around her and the fact that she sort of brings me back to better times in terms of the music-scene with her retro-approach to her singing. The way she uses her arms and sometimes rolls back her eyes proves that she`s completely immersed in the song as well, just awesome. And awesome reaction as well, couldn`t agree more!!

I would love a concert with Angelina and a guitar. Simple yet beautiful. I seen Eric Clapton on his Journeyman tour and while the band took a break, he just sat on a chair with his guitar and played/sang for 1/2 an hour. I will always remember that, even though it was 30 years ago.

Thank you for your reaction. If you liked this performance, you will also like Born to die, and a million years ago. They were both apparently recorded in the same session as this one, so the sound is comfortable. But both songs have more range and more nuances that will flip you out.
A new REPUBLIC RECORDS update of this would be a nice PRO-COVER for a DVD, to accompany others, such as ALL I ASK, Bohemian Rhapsody, others.
@Cliff Beats, You are absolutely correct. She does all her covers better than the original, in my biased opinion. I think it's because she sings the songs with feeling and emotion that touches us, and doesn't just 'sing'. Speaking of owning songs, wait until you react to her cover of the Bruno Mars/Adele song "All I Ask". I had never heard it before listening to Angelina sing it, so I went to Adele's video, and didn't make it half way through. I've always said, I think the songs whisper to Angelina and say "Sing us the way we were meant to be sung", and she does.
Bruno Mars version is so much better than Adele’s. Of course Bruno, Adele and two other composers/Lyricist put this together and Angelina owns this song! 🌺

That song is no longer Adele's song. Angelina now owns it with her performance.
Her covers during this period are especially fascinating after hearing interviews with Ivan and Egil. No real rehearsal. Basic home studio (with a great mic), Angelina frequently reading the lyrics, arrangement in her head, generally 1 or maybe 2 takes, nothing showy, and little editing and no effects. And she still sounds as good if not better than the original. One of a kind.

I love to watch Ivan’s expressions while she’s singing. He said they usually do these songs on one or two takes, so he’s sometimes hearing them for the first time, plus notice that often she is still reading the lyrics. How can she do that and still get so much feeling into them? It’s uncanny! Good reaction to our Angel!
