A couple weeks ago a 10 year sealed battery alarm I've had for a year & a half started going off for no reason at 1:30 AM 🤦🏻♀️. Went off the majority of the next couple hours for 10-20 mins at a time, eventually shut up til maintenance checked it later that day for their monthly alarm test (i told them about the issue & they claimed they'd be back to look at it later)... well about 2 hours later it was going off again. Took a couple hours of it going off most of the time for maintenance to show back up & all they did was reset it. That worked for 8-9 days then it started doing it again. It started around 4:50 PM & continued going off occasionally the rest of the evening/night. I called the office & basically demanded they replace that stupid alarm or at least investigate it further. Maintenance was here in 30 mins, replaced it & were trying hard to blame the "smells" in my house for setting it off 20+ times in 3-4 out of 11 days, even though the other 2 alarms just like that one that I've had a year or two longer than the troublesome one haven't made any sounds yet 🤦🏻♀️
I just watched your video on false alarms in smoke alarms. It was very informative. I learned a lot. I especially liked the tip about cleaning the alarm. I'm going to do that right away. Thanks again for the great video!
I would love your input. I am in the UK and I have had two different makes of battery powered smoke alarm go off on my upstairs landing several times, although there is no smoke, no oven on, no toast etc, no nothing. I have no idea why this is happening or how to stop it.
funny thing the 1 out of the 3 smoke alarms in my house went off then not soon after they all went off! thx for making this video because now i can go to sleep :)
That humidity thing is probably the reason why people always complain about false alarms in the early morning. The best way to prevent this is just to remove every other source of humidity.
New fear unlocked. I'm convinced there's spiders in all of my alarms now and I'm too afraid to look.
