Review: $1,999 Bloom Scooter electric moped

  • The BloomScooter is one of the cheapest sit-down electric scooters in the US. Learn more about it here: electrek.co/20...
Note: Please do not confuse this scooter with ZoomScooter. ZoomScooter reached out to tell me that they are two different companies that are not connected. The fact that their logos are nearly identical and they are both affiliated with Ampere Motors parent company is purely a coincidence, as ZoomScooter explained to me in their Cease and Desist letter. This is a BloomScooter and not a ZoomScooter, no matter how similar they look.

I bought this scooter and the good news, they seem to have made some improvements since your review. The speedometer is now accurate, in MPH, and accurate. Mine does 30 MPH. Very impressed with quality and features. I have had it for moth than a week and still haven't needed to charge it. Can't beat this for the price point.

Thanks for this review of a budget scooter. I ride an electric scooter to work every day as well. I ride an USD833 e-mazing bike. It’s got three speeds, topping out at 42 km/hour in third gear. Lead-Acid Battery as well. Used it for a year now, and still going fine. I don’t think much about cost vs gas motorcycles ‘coz I pay super cheap electricity cost vs cost of gas. By the way, I live in Bangkok. Anyway, I’m currently looking to expand my horizon to a more powerful e-machine on two wheels. There are lots of brands here from the PRC and Taiwan, and even Thai brands that are around USD1K and can top out at 60 km/hour. I really appreciated this review, but I have not found this brand yet in Thailand. I’ll take a little more time to decide. Thanks again!

    Steve K. of Indiana :
Bought a Bloom scooter recently: it is much better than the early prototype shown in the video. Speedo is very accurate on mine and top speed is about 32 mph!
" I'd probably say that it being electric is a major plus for me. Also the fact that it is completely silent is an impressive feature too. Additionally, it is truly a blast to ride in town and around the county too. You'll be able to get in and around traffic with ease! And since it is electric you can ride, and park pretty much wherever you want, which is a very sweet feature in itself.

Have reached 59 miles on a charge and still showing 3 out of 5 bars battery level!
It goes 26 mph in the 2nd gear mode!...it's way faster than any of the gas bikes i've built. Plus much smoother ride, and zero vibration. Plenty of torque right off the start too. It was even more than I thought it would be.
Reached up to 32 mph on third gear.

Very Happy with this scooter!:) Best priced Electric scooter in the USA:)"

When I heard you say it reads 66 km/h when you were actually doing about 40 km/h, the bell dinged in my head -- 66 km/h is just about 41 mph...
Sounds like somebody screwed up and applied a conversion factor the wrong way... or worse, maybe that's how they restricted the speed on your unit -- by spoofing overestimated speed data to the computer that restricts output. Would explain why 25 and not 30.

I Have had my Bloom e scooter for over 6 months now, it has been bullet proof and getting over 50 miles per charge consistently. It has high quality sealed lead acids batteries which are more stable than lithium batteries and wont' explode like lithium. these lead batteries can be recycled easily and are actually used in almost all the cars on the road nowadays as the starter battery and main power source for electric components onboard. and they are used in almost all the electric mopeds in Asia and most of Europe instead of lithium batteries. not sure why the author dismisses the SLA batteries. lithium are preferred in electric cars mostly because of space and weight contraint. 2 ton cars need to go 300-400 miles and they need lots of battery capacity to do that, while electric scooters are only about 150 lbs, which don't need much battery capacity like cars. So lead acids batteries are perfectly ok for electric scooters and they are much more stable and cheaper to replace than lithium !

Norway banned passengers on 50 ccs, its just complete bullshite, I would gladly pay money to have a sensor on the backseat that gave more power to the thing to have passengers. You’re lucky mate

Who gives a shit. What is this a scooter that gets better gas mileage than 120 MPG the gas scooters already get. Who gives a shit about an electric scooter and it doesn't go more than 25 miles on a charge. And they should set it to 40 miles per hour but then again that would probably only be a 10 mile charge

Passing on the shoulder. 5:01-5:08 riders like you are the reason cagers hate motorcycle/bicycle/moped riders.

Oh relax, everyone is at a stop. Filtering is legal in nearly every country in the world. Ironically, when mopeds do this it reduces traffic for everyone by making more efficient use of the road. But cagers just get blind rage because they have to wait in line. If they understood that they aren't waiting on mopeds and motorcycles, they'd realize that they benefit too.

@@codcouch1 why should you care if it's legal or not you aren't the one who will be paying for the ticket so relax and pay attention to your own business and don't worry what someone else is doing its none of your business unless your middle name is snitch
