Hi Ellen, Thank you for these recipes. I made the beard oil last night, wow I love it. I didn't have the avocado oil so I split equal amounts of apricot kernel oil and hemp seed oil. Gave 2 away to family members and they absolutely love it. Both have skin conditions and I am happy to report you have a great recipe.
Thank you so much for sharing these recipes! I've made a few batches for Christmas gifts, but the BEST thing about this video for me was your tip on removing beeswax from the container! Thank YOU!!
Your recipes are always excellent...I am so grateful that you share and give directions that are easy to follow! I use and love your formula for solid hair conditioner.
Thank you for sharing. I just ordered my fragrance oil and not sure how i missed the discount code. I guess i could use that for my future order. My goodness, the fragrance is amazing. Hope you would be making a hair greese next, i guess one can use this on the scalp too.
😊hello Ellen, been waching you for years! Ive been making beard oil and beard balm for several years! I’ve used hemp oil in all of my products forever! I love it! What is really funny is i too use amber bottles and craft labels for my products intil this year when i started transitioning to clear bottles (except my masculine line). I kept it brown! My oil blend is a bit different than yours but same consept!! I’m making lotion bits this week and would love to send you some if you would like!!! I love supporting and sharing other soapers!!! Do you have a po box?
Just in time for No Shave November! As always, thank you for sharing, and hope your husband is doing well. I added you all to my prayer list when he was in the hospital.
I want to open my bs so I have been watching alot of vedios today I passed along yours and i clicked . Omg am obssesed the oils that you are using for your recipe they are so different from other pple that makes me fall in love . I appreciate your work alot. I am in love .
Great timing! I was looking for a beard balm recipe and didn't like any of the ones I found. Immediately grabbed some jars and the few ingredients I dont have for this, and I will be making it in a few days! ❤
Ellen , hi to make a video showing the soapcalc formula. To see the lye & Water ratio that you use. I’m new in soaps making and I want more clarification. Thank you 😊 by the way I watch your videos thousands of time every day 😂😊😘🌱
Hi Ellen!! Thank you so much for sharing all your fabulous recipes with us! Your God’s gift to us! ❤️ I was wondering if you ever made a dog soap/shampoo? Would you mind sharing tips and tricks? You’re so knowledgeable, I would appreciate some guidance! Much love to you! ❤️
Love this stuff, I have a vendor show coming up this Sunday so I better get to whipping up some for the guys, I already made your oatmeal infused lotions and butter for the women so I need something for the men.
Thank you so much for the video!!! I tried the beard balm awhile ago, but my husband wasn't a fan...mostly because he didn't like the scent I choose hahaha. So I'm going to try a different scent! And he loves his beard oil, so I'm so excited to try this! Thank you thank you!
i've been looking forward to making more of these homemade products for men, i had seen some recipes for the beard balm that doubled as an aftershave balm, would this recipe be good for that purpose aswell? Thank you for showing us your recipe and process, super helpful!!
I noticed the fragrance oil wasn't included in the formula. Is there a reason why? Can't wait to make this, I just ordered the fragrance oil. Thank you for sharing.
It's a fabulous fragrance, I hope you love it as much as I do. I usually don't share the fragrance amount because is can very between scents and I want folks to look up what they're using to make sure it's the correct amount for that particular fragrance.
May I ask how I would make the beard balm into a beard butter? My husband said he prefers butter over balm due to the balm being more hard. How would I make into a butter? Also how would one add tallow to make the butter? He wants tallow in all his products
I really hate to ask this question however I am so new to this process but when it comes to the fragrance oil that I am using I really have a hard time smelling the scent. Can you please help me with the calculation to confirm that I am using the correct or desired amount? my scent is by the FLAMING CANDLE company and is called Patchouli Amber, the lotion safe ratio is between 1-1.7%. I want to make 6 2 oz tins (which I believe I would just triple you recipe) for my gifts this year. Thank you for all your help and and for these recipes and the time it takes to upload them to us.
You're safe to use the max recommended amount for your products. I always like to read reviews, they help to know which scents have good scent retention and more..
So I have a question. I use the unrefined yellow Shea Butter I get from soaper’s choice and I’ve had grainy issues with all my solid products I use with it. Even if I hold it at 140 degrees F for 20-30 minutes. My beard balms, body butters ect… I’ve found the only way to get rid of that grainy texture in the finished product is to strain it through cloth. I love the yellow Shea butter because of all the nutrients in it due to it being raw and unrefined. But it’s a bit of a pain with that extra step. Have you had this happen? And if so do you know of any other ways to get rid of that grainy texture? As always, I love your videos and am so grateful you share such wonderful recipes and techniques with all of us, thank you ❤️
Hi Ellen! I have a question if you don’t mind answering. I made the beard balm and it was fine for a couple of weeks but then started getting those specks in it. Like crystallized specks. Any idea what would cause that? Should I increase the wax to make them more stable?
Those could be from a few things, uneven cooling where the wax cools faster than the oils, or not having a complete blended emulsion... I suggest remelting one down and see if it sets up better the second time..?
I’ve had this same issue in the past. I found using a double-boiler method, and sliding the double-boiler off my heat source and allowing my beard balm to gradually cool down while still remaining liquid (from the heat of the double-boiler) helps. I also, use a mini electric whisk (milk frother) to ensure all the fatty acids from the butters are blended and dispersed as evenly as possible. I generally allow my balm to gradually cool over my double-boiler for about 15-20 minutes, and at any point the mixture starts to solidify I pop it back onto my heat source until it starts to melt again, and remove. Stir your mixture every 5-minutes or so, until you place it in a jar or tin. I also, tend to have to warm my tins sometimes, especially during the winter, to prevent some of the ingredients from cooling to rapidly and causing the crystallization that you’re seeing in your products. I know that was a lot, but I hope it helps!
I am just starting out. I have used all your links for your affiliates. Honest Question: can I use the scent description from MOROUGE CANADA when selling a product that I used their fragrance? Is that ok or do I need to create my own description?

Yes, I think this would be very soothing on freshly shaved skin👍
Great 👍 ❤
Thank you for your recipe Ellen. Can anyone help me to calculate the recipe if I am making 8 of beard oil please
The recipe made two 2 oz bottles, you can just multiply by 4 to get 8 bottles.🤎
Thank you so much 💓

Thank you so much for that@@EllenRuthSoap. I made a small test batch with the fragrance yesterday and my god! It smells divine.
If I can’t get cocoa butter could I double up on either the shea butter, beeswax or both?
Yes, you can sub with another butter👍
Hello Ms. Ellen, thank you very much. How much will cost if selling? Approximately thank you.
Pricing products is a big subject. Bramble Berry and Modern Soapmaking have great articles on that.
May I ask how I would make the beard balm into a beard butter? My husband said he prefers butter over balm due to the balm being more hard.
How would I make into a butter? Also how would one add tallow to make the butter? He wants tallow in all his products
That would be a new formulation. But it's a great idea for a future video.

I have had grainy issues in the past. Heating slow & low helps as well as cooling fast, try pop it into the fridge for several hours after making.
what is a substitute for hempseed oil if I can't get it?
Any high quality liquid oil you like👍
Hi im tina nice to meet you ❤😊
Could you use the beard oil for scalp hair oil treatment?
You could use it on hair and scalp, but it may leave a heavy feel on the hair.
Great video! Do you think I could sub out the coconut oil for tallow? Thank you!
Yes, I think that would be a nice sub🤎
@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you!
Just wanted to let you know that I did use tallow and it's great! Husband loves it too!
Hi! Would a mango butter be a good substitute for cocoa butter?
Yes, absolutely🤎
How beautiful woman you are, thak you so much for your smiley face and excellent videos
Wow, thank you🥰
