    There's so much out there about Doubles strategy, but as someone who is younger and actually loves Singles, it has been nearly impossible to find anything. I've just been trying to get out on the court and "see what works." This video helped me a lot, so thanks Mark...!

    Great video, Mark! So very helpful. Great content and packed full of good strategy.
    I can understand though this video may not be the one total newbies are expecting. Total newbies may expect this to be a beginner’s course on pickleball. But this may be best for someone that wants to improve and get into tournament plays. A different title may be clearer.
    To me again, this is really helpful. Speaking as someone that has played regularly for 10 months for doubles and now wants to get into singles.

    The little girl was quite funny. The face you made before you said "that's gross" was hilarious. I liked it. Nice touch. A lighthearted video about a sport that is very interesting but not so serious either. Top marks.

    Perfect intro to singles. Some of that I kinda knew, but not all of it. Thanks!

    It's great to see Pickleball being associated with its big brother Tennis. I really tire of hearing pickleball players tell us that it is not mini-tennis. It actually is but without nearly as much physical duress. I've been a tennis player and instructor of tennis for about 40 years, so I know a bit about how a ball is hit with a racket (paddle) in a court. I've now been trying pickleball, and it is really fun. But doubles looks too much like a senior's social club. Don't get me wrong, for many that is perfect. But for someone who never cared for double in tennis, I certainly don't want to spend my time on the court dinking back and forth. A decent singles tennis player knows how to move, build a point, hit various spin groundstrokes and passing shots, nail solid volleys on balls at the net and mid-court, and handle both defensive and offensive scenarios constantly in flux. I'm finding pickleball to be much more forgiving in difficult ball placements. Just don't tell me that pickleball players shouldn't play like tennis. After hitting only about 8x or so, I already know I can be awesome at this game. That is because of TENNIS! There is a reason you always see tennis players against pickleball players online facing off on a pickleball court and NOT on a tennis court. Need I even explain?

      I've just begun the really fun sport of pickle ball, and am also already tired of the players who've never played tennis, telling me the strategies, that I'd probably benefit from the beginner's class, etc. I was a 4.0 tennis player, having played my entire life. I fully intend to show these players how it's done 😉😜😜

    Is it mandatory to come to the net in singles or can you play from the baseline like you can in tennis

    I thought the 2 bounce rule still applies in singles. Didn't look that way in the video.

      Yes. The two balance rule still applies in singles. What part of this video did it look otherwise?

    Omg this was horrible. He compares to "doubles" so much that you can't really get a feel for what you came here for... singles.🤦‍♀️ On to another video about singles and ONLY singles so a new player can actually grasp it.

    • @ThirdShotSports
      @ThirdShotSports  3 года назад +7

      Thanks for watching! Since most people initially play doubles PB, using it as a reference point seemed to make sense. Do you have any outstanding questions we didn’t answer in the video? What would you like to know that we didn’t touch on here? Really, we are here to help!

      Erika, I disagree, he talked about singles, not doubles. I think there are videos about doubles if that's what you want to learn about

    • @erikam7934
      @erikam7934 3 года назад +1

      You can disagree but you're wrong. Everything was in comparison to doubles. So to an actual newbie it was as if I was having to learn two ways at once. A simple, direct, to the point one on one rule session would have been (and still would be) more helpful for a beginner. As to learn directly without the constant comparison to another way of playing. That's confusing. To me. Maybe not to you (random person that commented on my comment telling me I'm wrong when I can't possibly be wrong as my opinion is just that... mine) but to me. :)
      Thanks OP for asking how and if you do post a more direct video I'd be interested in seeing it.
