In 1920s Mahatma Gandhi used religion to bring Indian muslims into the national freedom movement, but this ultimately failed. Later taking advantage of religious sentiments, Muslim League brought about partition of India.

Dear Indian Muslim brothers and sisters, I want to clarify a few things. I am a Muslim Türk from Türkiye. Firstly, it is true that Ottoman Sultans did hold the title of Caliph. However, in 1839 there was a Tanzimat Fermanı which is a reform to get rid of Muslims from the government. After, 1839, non Muslims had started to take government positions. They were not traditional Ottomans anymore. And then slowly empire started to dissolve. There were so many traitors. They have started many wars for stupid reasons and caused state to weaken and this resulted many massacres on Muslims. Take Balkans. There were many Muslims there and so many of them were killed. Some Sultans had tried to stop them but they were killed, too. And in WW1, they caused so many deaths of young Türk children. Even children from schools and universities were send to frontlines. They brought so much destruction and later we lost Ottoman Empire. They did not stop there and started targeting Islam more and more. That is why many Türks now do not practice Islam. Please do not think that Muslims from Türkiye sold you to British. We were weak and could not do anything. Currently, Muslims in Türkiye are trying to repair this damage and it was like this for decades. We Muslim Türks do not want to see our Muslim brothers and sisters suffering nor we want to use their feelings and our religion to our benefit. Indian Muslims helped us a lot and we helped them, too in history. This what brothers do. There may be some scums between us but this does not change that we are brother. English is cunning and they always try to turn brothers into enemies. We need to be together, help each other and be strong. There is no other way.

@@AnirbanGhosh-vo9vs Why did Armenians join invading Russians and massacred the civilians after Türk army's movement to frontlines? Why did they place a bomb to Sultan Abdulhamid's car? Even today they are killing Türk and Kürt civilians in Türkiye under the name of PKK. They were killing Türk diplomats until recently. They thought they could massacre Türks just like serbs, greeks, bulgars but it did not go well for them. Even then Ottoman government did not kill them but moved them to Suria which was another Ottoman territory. Along the way those who lost their families to armenian terrorist attacked them. And they have every right to do so.

Very good video. this type of shortsightedness and irresponsible behavior of the Ottoman Empire is the main cause of the downfall.
Religion has become an obstacle in today's world especially in subcontinent.i do not know how history played out good bad or ugly but it had repercussions on today's subcontinent in negative ways. After so much of science and innovative/rationale still people manipulate by religion. And people in power exploited the religious identity after independence also.
One of the reasons why china South east Asia and the west become more developed and mentally rational due to society's progress towards humanity over religiosity. I don't know how much time it will be required in the subcontinent to understand we all are human race / homo sepians.
But still in many important events of people's life in subcontinent decided by religion just important as marriage where religion decide whom you can marry and whom you can't what you can eat and what you can't what you can drink what you can't and list goes on which is bizzare.

All the major wars in last century and recently were fought by these so called enlightened, advanced and scientific nations and to just downplay those as nations or colonies fighting will be our foolishness. Those wars were fought on ideas and thoughts which the so called third world nations have considered as conflict free unlike religion. And it is this colonization of our minds that we now hate our own selves just to be like our oppressors.

Turkish people are genetically mixture of majority Europeans, northern eurasians, persians and some middle eastern people.
It is very natural they will be much more european minded and much more close to British than Arabs or Mughals/Mongols despite their muslim religion, it will come in automatically whatever maybe the religion.
Infact Islam through its origins in Arabia had already eaten up more than it could chew before that, naturally the transition to persians and then the ottomans and then the Europeans was a natural progression and will continue no matter what happens.
By the way, genetics is also proving the privileged caste among hindus are genetically much more close to europeans, persians and central asians than other indians are.
The problem with muslim community is it had already opened its gates to all different kinds of people just to swell its ranks and become powerful overnight and many people who were sidelined by continuous indo-european sway over power had taken up the opportunity to become muslims,many had already transformed aryanic vedic religion into subcontinental hinduism long back in history, so another conversion to similar dark path was a natural progression for many. For ottomans it was a win win situation of bridging the gap between these resurgent, opportunistic converts of global south and indo-europeans.

@@ABO-Destiny some Indians especially higher caste and some scheduled caste like chamars and dusadhs have high steppe ancestry around 31%! , something which links them to other indo European groups but they are no way closer to Europeans than other Indians. Even the Indian with most steppe genes have significant ASSI component. Most Indians have genes of both in different degree. Indians overall share more ancestry with each other than with people in Europe
