depending where the person was. Those likely in and around the blast site or near it. Likely were vaporized. your not going to find anything except perhaps some clothing or similar perhaps a stain where the mist hit a undamaged wall. Those further away from the blast site but still close likely would have been torn apart by the blast the over-pressure as stated by Stephen Ritger likely crushing the human body like a big rig smacking into it. These would have been likely the bodies found with more intact ones as you got farther from the blast site. Basically anyone that was right there likely ceased to exist. They probably never felt pain the best equivalent would be someone turning off a light switch.

The Mihăileşti explosion occurred on 24 May 2004 in the village of Mihăileşti, Buzău County, Romania. A truck loaded with ammonium nitrate rolled over and caught fire before exploding an hour later killing at least 18 people and injuring 13 others.
At 4:57 AM local time, a truck loaded with 20 tons of ammonium nitrate rolled over on the express road E85 connecting Bucharest with Moldavia. Soon after the accident, the truck caught fire, so the driver immediately called the emergency number. Two fire trucks arrived at the scene 20 minutes later and started putting out the fire. A TV crew also arrived and started filming for a news program. Meanwhile, curious villagers gathered around the accident site.
At 5:47 AM, a small explosion took place in the cabin of the truck, followed 2 minutes later by a larger explosion, killing 7 firefighters, the TV crew (Ionuţ Barbu and Elena Popescu from Antena 1),[1] several villagers and the truck driver, totalling 18 people; 13 others were injured.
Of the 18 killed, 2 people (the truck driver and one of the firefighters) had to be identified by means of DNA testing. The explosion left behind a 6.5 meter deep crater, scattered human remains and debris over a several hundred meters radius, and caused damage amounting to about 70,000 euros.
Following this event, safety regulations for the transport of chemical substances were improved and ammonium nitrate was classified as a hazardous chemical compound. Ion Gherghe, the director of the Doljchim plant which produced the ammonium nitrate, and the managers of the two companies involved in the transport of this substance without safety measures, Mihai Gună and Ionel Ionuț Neagoe were charged with homicide by negligence and destruction of property. All were found guilty and sentenced to 4 years in jail, as well as the payment of compensations to the victims' families.

    • @listerdave1240

It depends on the amount, how closely it is packed, the type of AN and its condition.
This was almost 3000 tons of compactly stored high density (explosives grade) ammonium nitrate that had been sitting for six years absorbing moisture.
These are near perfect conditions to ensure it would explode violently if ever it was touched by fire.

The ammonium didn't blow up,it's an oxidizer,a susbstance wich only help for a combustible itself to burn faster and create the explosion.
You only saw a slow combustible burn very very fast thanks to the oxidizer (ammonium)
Moreover, the ammonium being in excess relatively to the combustible itself, you get a low quality combustion, and an energy output relative to the combustible mass, not relative to the oxidizer mass.
It could have been way worse if there was a stochiometric amount of combustible and oxidizer.
You can see flashes of white light just before the explosion, wich is what i understood is a stock of fireworks stocked near to the ammonnium.(whites lights are magnesium and aluminium as i know)
I'm pretty sure it was just this potential of energy wich created that, and not the amount of ammonium in itself wich was not used in it entirety, being in excess and being just an oxidizer, harmlesss alone.
Stocking a combustible and an oxidizer near one each other is really dumb.
