Great video Ken, I thoroughly enjoy watching you guys working together. I am a surveyor up in Canada and I wanted to let you know that what you are using is a laser engineer’s level. A transit is an instrument that measures horizontal angles. I don’t pretend to know more than you and your crew because I think you guys are excellent . I just wanted to pass this information on to you. Keep up the hard work.
Enjoyed watching while, it took me back to my summer job in Jacksonville, Fl during the 60-70s... I dug footings with hand tools in pine/ oak woods instead of doing weights twice a day for football. LOL, it made a man out of you and kept my nose out of trouble! Hippie free. When the Captain asked me, why I was still in boot camp at P.I. ... I looked at him with a straight face saying " Sir, isn't this summer camp?" Just a country boy that, lived a good life. Careful, using the shovel... Have a great day! TY
Your son seems like the ideal employee...always moving, never complaining, skilled at what he does. Love watching you guys work together. Congrats on the opening of the season!
we need more videos of the incredible hulk lifting trusses overhead, moving stacks of lumber, etc... he was sandbagging us with those casual digging skills.
You've got a running start to the 2021 construction season (and all of the supply issues you've documented). in the process, you also seem to be fast closing in on another 10K subs. I'll bet you will be pushing 160 - 170 subs by the end of the year with your content and your approach to solid information. Thanks, Ken.
Looking good Ken. I just finished watching this without audio, I lost audio on the computer. This evening I'll watch it again on the big screen! Looks like these folks will be good to go with electricity for their new garage. Bill on the Hill... :~)
When I'm back filling a ditch before I put the sod back. I use a leaf rake on the little bits of dirt you do have to rake fast and kinda flick the dirt. But when you're done it looks like nobody was there.
Don’t know why you just wouldn’t wait until you had the excavator to dig the trench for the electrical. I have a landscape business and my motto is work smarter not harder🤣
great vid - add a longer description to y9our video for the algorithm. you can also use time markers in your video. youtube likes when creators do this and suggest your video more often. cheers!
Hi Ken , really enjoy your videos. That snake looked like what we call a Garter Snake up here in Manitoba Canada. I haul a lot of building materials , wood -all types , O.S.B. , shingles etc around our province. It comes into our yard by rail , and a small portion by truck. I've asked the customers , Lowes , Home Hardware and the like , why is the price so high. No one has an answer but a lot of guesses. I was talking to a contractor at Lowes yesterday who was picking up 130 pieces of 1 x 6 treated for a customers fence he was doing. Very frustrated with the prices , as you must be also. I'm new to your you=tube and thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks Wally
Mack ... in my experience, it's easier to bring the conduit up from the outside and use a slip sleeve for any frost movement. I am surprised they are installing it now instead of after the pour. OTOH, maybe the game plan is to have it there so it can come up through the new slab. I guess we'll find out in the next video!
Who's the newbie? I don't recall hearing a formal introduction. Please highlight your help with a little screen time. Thanks for the great videos Ken. Love them!
In Vermont, do you need to be a licensed electrician to do the electrical for the garage or no? In CT you cannot backfill the underground until it is inspected.
Nice video, as always. I'm curious about your choice of how to treat the concrete slab. Do you simply pour a slab and frame on top of that? Or, do you pour a separate footing, frame on top of that and pour a slab later?
Around here we found NEVER go down on our land if you can move 1 yard of dirt out to level land. or bring in 24 yards of dirt bring in the 24 yards. better to build up than flood. because you spit on the ground here the water level go up a foot.
doesn't matter. we'll never see $4 2x4x8, or $33 5/8 t1-11, ever again. over the past 12 months the former is up 125%, while the latter over 60% (in central florida).
Hey Ken, just curious if you’re putting a sub panel in the garage or your just running a single circuit to the garage? If so, what is the sub panel amp rating and how many circuit is it’s capacity?
C’mon down to Texas - you’d be amazed at how much hand work is still done for residential construction down here! And a lot of these houses need to have quite a bit of dirt moved to get the footings ready for the concrete pour. Hard way to make a living for sure, but they usually have quite a few guys onsite when this work is being done so it goes along fairly quickly......😅
Good video, beautiful lot, like everything except for the snake, I don't mean this in a negative way, I don't like any kind of snakes, looking forward to follow up on this build, Ken what is your email address, you folks have a good day.
Every time you start in front of the camera and walk back into the "action", it throws me off because I think your doing an overlay of your image on to the video and then you just walk in to it, makes me laugh.
Thanks for the tip on the sod saving. That soil looks amazing.
Always enjoy your videos Ken. They're very interesting and informative.

As others have commented, that's some pretty soil! Also, not having to trench and dig through roots makes life so much easier.
Thanks true

Nice to see you guys getting back at it! 1st Garage of the season!
You and your crew are amazing
God Bless
Keep the the videos coming

Beautiful soil to dig in, only red clay here in North Carolina, enjoy your calm demeanor
Man that is some good looking dirt. Nothing but red clay where I am at.
Thanks for sharing! I appreciate seeing the site prep side of the process. Looking to build next year in MN and am wanting to do the site work myself.
Great work Guys!!
Thanks
great to see a new build begin
we need more videos of the incredible hulk lifting trusses overhead, moving stacks of lumber, etc... he was sandbagging us with those casual digging skills.
Nice to see some preliminary prep work. You aren't banging on wood all the time. Would like to see excavation work in its entirety.

Now the hand cutting of the sod so it fits back perfectly is the way to go I do that as well
Ken’s excavator runs on hamburgers.

Ever any thought of getting a small ditch witch ? Thanks, thumbs up !
it's good to see you're using conduit. most people would have taken the cheaper, lazy way out and just buried the cable.
Just making a RUclips algorithm comment to help you out. 🤔🙄🤫. Nice to see you guys back at it!
Time to invest in one of those subcompact tractors with backhoe😎
Don’t know why you just wouldn’t wait until you had the excavator to dig the trench for the electrical. I have a landscape business and my motto is work smarter not harder🤣
Thinking the same, but i'm sure he had a good reason

Glad I’m not the only one that the laser wants to give a hard time.
Nice work.
Another great video by the master
Wrap the caution tape around the pipe is a good way to secure it as well.

Hey Nice work and video That’s going to be nice garage
thanks for sharing
i really like your videos!!!
It would be neat if you could bring the electrical conduit up into the garage stud Bay

agree
Left me in suspense... One bucket to cover end of pipe and wire, what was the second upside down bucket for?
Looks like it is just to fill the trench temporarily. They will need one more stick of pipe after they grade for the garage
Keep someone from stepping in the open ditch until they finish
Good morning from Don in Virginia SIR
Watching the guys shovel makes my back hurt
Nice microphone work!
I know more than I care to about that trench!
I would have been running if I saw that snake
Hi Ken must be nation wide code or national lol, for 18 inch deep with yellow tape ,we. Have dug many..😎
Any reason for not using a trenching shovel? Would seem like a lot less work.

🇨🇦
0:42 to 0:50
He became superman 🦸♂️
At 4:47
The landlord just visited his site 🤔
Ken do you have any interest in sharing the type of contract you use. Really impressed with your operation. Thanks
Yes
I guessed the reason for the yellow tape, but why the two pails?
In Vermont, do you need to be a licensed electrician to do the electrical for the garage or no? In CT you cannot backfill the underground until it is inspected.
Can't do anything in Ct without some inspector up your know what !
Didn'T realize you need to do landscaping, too.
What kind of snake was that? Garter? Looking forward to seeing the build.
Morning Ken! Thanks for sharing. BTW will you build a garage in Troy, VT at junction 100 & 101?
Nice video, as always. I'm curious about your choice of how to treat the concrete slab. Do you simply pour a slab and frame on top of that? Or, do you pour a separate footing, frame on top of that and pour a slab later?
Thanks Ken that was a nice snake on the grass but did you notice the small one in the trench just where Chad was filling in at frame 4:27 ?

I live in eastern PA near PHILLY around about how much would one of these garages cost here?
Was the snake on the payroll?
Why not strip the top soil and sod then bring fill in? That is a lot to cut into a hill and maybe have future water problems
That’s why I use a string level
Do u service GA? The metro Atlanta area? I'm a fan of your page
What kind of snake?
Garter ?
Just a little garter snake. :)
Hi Ken I really appreciate the time you take to make videos. Having said that , do you also do post and beam work/timber framing ?
😉😊👍👏
what wire did you pull ??? 10/3 8/3 ??
Lumber Futures today (May 19,2021) drops 27% 7th straight day of losses. Traders are calling it the "Lumber Tumble". Back down to the March figures.

what transit system do you use?
👍👍😎✌️
Can you spot the snake at 4:35?
You don't see many hand digging much anymore.
These new millennial workers would rather spend an hour on a machine and make a big mess than 15min with a shovel.

Ken, did you run a 30 amp service to the garage? Finish the conduit once the excavation work is completed?
Tom ... that wire did look larger than a #10 x 3 so maybe more?
Snake! 😂😂
Good video, beautiful lot, like everything except for the snake, I don't mean this in a negative way, I don't like any kind of snakes, looking forward to follow up on this build, Ken what is your email address, you folks have a good day.
So who is the new guy with Chad?
rent a drencher penny pincher
Easy digging and only about 25'.
The hassle of paying for and transporting a ditch witch isn't worth it.
IS THAT A 220 line for the garage ???
Too short
I see it but don't believe it
