I went through pretty much this same exercise last year. Headlight, taillight, stoplight, turn signals and horn. All on batteries, not connected to the magneto. From your comments, sounds like the scooter laws in LA are similar to Michigan. I went to the local police to have them inspect the bike so I could apply for a VIN, yada, yada. They pointed me to their motorcycle / scooter expert. He pretty much laughed and said, it's a bike. As long as it has peddles and can be ridden with out the engine running, they consider it a bike. Legal to run on the streets with or without the engine running.
I asked him if he would sign a letter to that effect and he did without issue. So, if I get a ticket someday, hopefully this covers it. I found the whole exercise weird, but am glad I have the lights on the bike now. I do appreciate your video, as you used different components I was not aware were available.

It fits on the right side of your existing mag.Puts out 12 to 18 volts at 3 amp.and will not affect your other mag setup or power at all for about 30 bucks. Awesome stuff. I went on Amazon and found an adapter for my Ryobi One+ 18v batteries (they sell similar items for most other cordless tool batteries too). It fits over the battery and has two 12ga wires sticking out of the top. I bought an adjustable step down transformer online as well and wired it to the adapter wires. I adjusted the voltage from 18v to 12.5v. Now I have a very loud car horn and a way to add more stuff when I'm ready. It is, however; independent of the magneto system so it will not charge while riding. Not an issue for me since I have several batteries and only using it for a horn. Works great for my 1 to 2 hour a rides around town on the weekends.

hover years ago in the early nineties we were a bunch of broke kids we couldnt have even dreamed of all that stuff on a bike but we were clever all we could afford was those cheap plastic five dollar a set pedals for our bikes the ones that wore out in a hundred miles or less
what we did was grind some of the plastic out and put a metal liner in there with grease those pedals would then last about 175 miles or one summer vacation another thing we did was we would run drywall screws through our pedals and then snip them it kept our feet from slipping off the pedals as the metal was sharper and harder than the plastic barbs already on the pedals
man those were so fun times hell we even kept junk bikes around for parts one of us was always breaking something lastly we salvaged the 54 tooth sprockets and crank assembleys from exercise bikes and put them on our bikes as a result we could pedal and get speeds of 35 to 38 m.p.h. and with slight downhill grade we hit speeds of 40 and sometimes as much as fifty if the grade was steep and long enough back then we had no idea of how dangerous that was because at the time bicycle tires were only rated for 32 m.p.h. l.o.l. good times those were

3A is a LOT for the generator addon.
Where i lived in the US, we didn't need any of that stuff, and couldn't register it even if we wanted to. And they are 100% street legal for anyone with a valid drivers license. I did however add all the lights and stuff but that's just for my safety, not for any legal reason.
Not sure what state you're in though.
I however painted my bike to make it look really pretty. If the bike looks like a messy unsafe POS, you're more likely to get pulled over than if it's something that looks well put together and looks really nice. So i'd suggest painting the petrol tank with something that is petrol/oil resistant. As well as keeping the bike clean and shiny.

Depending state to state is different.. but depending on how hard your state is on emissions and depending on if mopeds need to pass emissions in your state these chaina dolls wont pass. But dont worry you can buy "flying horse" epa kit or maybe just the exhaust im sure you can find it used since no one runs the epa exhaust from that kit you lose a lot of power with it.. but to pass inspection if needed 2 nuts take 2secs to swap out

I recommend to get a new hub and axle. You can remove coaster brakes if you took out everything it will work but NOT SAFE its a 50/50 just opens the door for issues. So your best bet is getting a h.d axle/hub kit the sell them on BBR and motorbikes they around $50 it will give you a drum brake great brake to have and a better way to put on sprocket. A bike shop should be able to build rim using the huffy rim just swap hubs for another $20-30

(On the normal grip spot) What do you think?

Running off the motor turned out to be a bit more involved than I thought it would be :( I ended up just using a 12 volt batter bank that would run everything for weeks b4 needing a charge. For both sides of the bars you just cut out the end of the grips and slide them in :)

Yes I removed the entire gut system for my brakes I'll have to do a video on it, basically now I can pedal several times before catching with the chain. To pedal forward but I did not have a option once I had started my build the coaster brake leg got mad and the wheel had locked in both directions like a fixed gear bike. Didn't want the pedals to beat my ankles as I ft down the road soooooo

No nitro and I've been doing a full curcit electrical kit with gps dule hand brake same as a normal car motorbike can run solar, Ac 5v charger 1amp rate, or on the dynamo 6w battery supplys and drop when full to the lighting kit. Going the bike industry as it will fit in a 50mm frame hopefully the 25mm but will need to wait and see. And foot peg led 3 pin types and 2 types Ir and lined as the front is on suspension 😕 9v front light main 2 3.7v backup but can use 5v 9v 12v set as well as horn on a 12 song kit one for now, gps, indicator, hazard and brake kit hand made! But should be a good application 😆. As a few back there was not one worth the cash on and this one from china was like 200 bucks for one front or back and like 20 dollors worth so went to make my own for the industry hopefully in the next year or so with a full tested kit for market use you could basically add all after market led fits on top.

Complaining about you rolling through stop signs but you remind me of a joke that a State trooper once told me about. He pulled the man over for rolling through a stop sign and the man started to argue with him why should he have to stop if there's no cars coming. State trooper explained that Hill demonstrate why he needed to stop and took out his. He began to tap on the man's head with the knife stick and asked him now you want me to stop or slow down. State trooper claims the man got the point. LOL

you should get a 100% synthetic oil, high octane fuel and a better air filter bc this one sucks a lot, and u could take the tip out of the exhaust to have a really good increase of torque. with all that I'm getting 56kmh in straight, u really should do some tunning ;)
