Lewis Hamilton Drops BOMBSHELL Statement on Adrian Newey's Joining Ferrari!
Red Bull has officially announced that Adrian Newey will depart from the team in the first quarter of 2025. There's speculation that Newey might join Ferrari, where Lewis Hamilton is set to start next year. Hamilton expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of Newey joining Ferrari post his departure from Red Bull early in 2025. Newey, recognized as F1's foremost car designer, will become available for team recruitment from April 2025 following his negotiated exit from Red Bull. A recent meeting between Newey and a Ferrari representative suggests his keen interest in moving to Ferrari, despite a tempting offer from Aston Martin. Hamilton praised Newey's remarkable track record and expertise, emphasizing his potential as a valuable addition to any team, particularly Ferrari. "Ferrari already boasts a formidable team and is making significant progress, evident in the improved performance of their car this year,". Hamilton noted. Newey's appeal to F1 teams stems from his remarkable track record of building 14 championship-winning cars during his tenures at Williams and McLaren in the 1990s, and more recently, at Red Bull over the past 15 years. Additionally, his adeptness at navigating regulation changes, crucial in light of the significant rule overhaul slated for F1 in 2026, further enhances his allure to prospective teams. Regarding his decision to leave Mercedes at the end of this season and join Ferrari, Hamilton neither confirmed nor denied if Newey's potential move to Ferrari played a role. Despite never having collaborated directly with Newey, Hamilton acknowledged his influence, citing the evolution of the McLaren car, a concept Newey had contributed to, upon his arrival at the team in 2007.
"While Newey's departure from McLaren predated my arrival, his legacy was evident in the evolutionary trajectory of the car I drove. Racing against teams where Newey had a significant imprint has been a formidable challenge," Hamilton reflected. Nonetheless, he emphasized the collective effort of the team behind the scenes, underlining their capability to continue producing competitive cars. Hamilton concluded by expressing confidence in Red Bull's future prospects and acknowledging the potential benefits any team would reap from collaborating with Newey.
