@@yoshikempenaers8621 2002 was the beginning, without Penske due to sponsor contract with Marlboro, and with many issues during the season, for example, PWR finishing their operations after Motegi race
Andretti won twice at Long Beach - for his first win, and his last win.

The golden age
This is an amazing course from a _great_ period in IndyCar racing!!! So nice to finally get to watch-again, after all these years- without all the channel commercial breaks. But YT is full of ripped-from-VHS ads and commercials, if you miss that lol X-) #commercials
I wish IndyCar post the races of this year as well, even if they are like a month old. It was the only way I was able to follow the series....

Awesome video! It’s so dreamy seeing this race in HD! The next two classic rewinds I really want to see are the 1998 IRL races at Dover and Charlotte since they’re still not back on RUclips yet, I really want to see Kenny Bräck's first career win, and it'd be awesome seeing the two aforementioned races in HD! It'd also be cool to hear Eli Gold calling a IndyCar race!

I.was there to witness Michael win! I talked to Michael and he said he was coming off the hairpin better than Jimmy Vasser.
And now next year FOX will be back again!!! and this channel will have this race in MAIN! channel, after what happen this past weekend with the race of Laguna Seca, Penske has made probably the best decision of all.

Awesome video! I recently acquired 8 vintage pit crew shirts and jackets. After doing extensive research on one of the shirts results led me here. I'm in awe discovering that all shirts and jackets were worn personally by Bharat Naran (crew chief of the pole-winning #8 Shell Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone for Team Rahal in this race). Shirts are all from different teams. PPI pioneer, Telefonica, Shell rahal team. One shirt has an actual autograph from Michael Andretti.
Tough one for JV. He should've won this race. Long live CART!
Memories are deceptive. Rather boring compared to IndyCar races today. The best machines were useless with artificial rules (mandatory pitstop windows, traction control???) and missing competition back then (was there any overtake for position in front? I didn't see one). Kind of fitting that the victory was decided by a pit gamble and a short sleep by Jimmy. I was then and I am a fan again of Mikey, IndyCar/CART and I'm glad the racing is so competitive as it is now. That is even more impressive if you think they use spec chassis now.

Crazy the guy 5th in the IRL championship in 2004 with 3 wins but couldn't get a sponsor. The Split really screwed people over...
So ironic for Andretti his first and last wins at long beach, he won Reynards fist cart race and this was his Last race & win in a Reynard, and also team Green/Motorola last street/Road race with Reynard before switching to Lolas, although Franchitti still ran a Reynard in the 1st of the 2 ovals that followed this race
If only todays cars were anywhere near as exciting as these.
I feel the same. But They are getting there. Sooner than later.
Will be 4 engine Manufactures , with nearly 1000hp. 2021 is the est year for this. Indy car is doing alot better financially than it was in 2002 during the split

I was very lucky with my RS3 which I sold in 2022 because I came out of the PCP deal with equity.
I run an M440i just now and I want to change but I just dont see any value in any cars just now.
The Etron GT and Taycan seem to have taken a huge hit value wise which could make them viable. But I just don't think I am ready for electric

I remember this race.. Where Vasser's chance of winning were dashed by confusion during a yellow flag and Michael Andretti lucked out, going from 12th to first.
