Technically it's 3 Specials with Tennant & Donna - then a Christmas Special with the new Doctor. So it is 4 Specials altogether before the new series starts proper.
Matt didn't regenerate into himself. David did, with the meta-crisis Doctor; which also resulted in the circumstances that lead to the Doctor erasing Donna's memory. The only real example of the distinction of Matt's Doctor being considered the 11th Doctor in Canon was in "The Lodger," when he psychically imparts his knowledge with a headbut to James Cordon's character via headbutt. *CRAIG:* You're a *DOCTOR:* Yes. *CRAIG:* From *DOCTOR:* Shush. *CRAIG:* You've got a Tardis. *DOCTOR:* Yes. Shush. Eleventh. Right. Okay, specific detail. There may have been similar casual references, like River's photo line-up in "The Husbands of River Song," but that's probably the most explicit. But even that's reconciled in "The Time of the Doctor," where he may not have considered himself worthy of being called "The Doctor" as The War Doctor, it was still one of his 12 original regenerations (Chibnall retcons notwithstanding) and then pointed out David's meta-crisis regeneration was in fact a regeneration, which would have made David the 11th and 12 Doctor and Matt the 13th - hence him being out of regenerations, until the Time Lords gave him more. War Doctor aside, the conceit with the meta-crisis is that, it was a use of a full regeneration, but he didn't actually complete the process. He cheated it (which I've always thought had some interesting Classic Who implications) but it was a regeneration without regenerating. But now, that's not the case. This was a straight up, legitimate regeneration, fullstop. The Doctor was Jodie regenerated into David. And at least as far as we know, there are no other qualifications to that or anything that would undermine that distinction - David is the 14th Doctor.
This is why I think RTD is just as guilty of convoluted storytelling and fan fulfilment as Moffat. Remember that time he brought back Rose and gave her a CLONE DOCTOR!?! I still like both show runners but they both make a mess
It's 3 60th anniversary specials and then a Christmas special before the new season next year. Though they've just started filming for the season to follow that.
50th anniversary: Matt Smith: I never forget a face Tom Baker: I know you don’t, and in years to come you might find yourself revisiting a few, but just, the old favourites eh? Fast forward ten years….Tennant returns for the 60th, as the 14th Doctor
I have looked everyday at your twitter and here for this reaction and its here and had to drop when i am doing an all nighter in work!!! haha typical well done superb reaction!!
Counting the 14 as his own Doctor makes David the 3rd oldest actor to take on the lead role in a new incarnation only after William Hartnell and Peter Capaldi.
I first remember Alex Kingston playing the lead in the 1996 4 part miniseries, "The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders" by Daniel Defoe. Daniel Craig also played a highwayman in one of his early TV appearances.
We are soooo excited here in the UK for this, in fact this year instead of my Wonder Woman X-Mas jumpers (sweaters) (I have about 5 different ones), I bought myself a DOCTOR WHO one!!!! 💙💙💙
OMG! I have literally been waiting for you guys' reaction for months! I am sooo happy that you're finally able to show us. I am so so so excited! And it is so weird (read: brilliant) to think that this is the first time we see Kat's first time reaction to Doctor Who! And I loved it! Both of you! These episodes are going to be AMAZING! Thank you guys so much for sharing this!
I didn't even THINK about how this would be the first time a reaction of mine to new Doctor Who would also be.. New! Fantastic! We're so happy to be back and so happy to have you here!
I'd be happy for him to be listed as 10b. Trouble is for pub chats in the future when you try and figure out which Doctor the other bloke is talking about.
It's probably more of a 'see you later'. Episodes with multi-Doctor appearances crop up now and again. You might even get the 10th and 14th Doctors at the same time!
RTD has made it very clear that 14 is a different incarnation than 10. Yes they share the face but apparently this is the next incarnation and will be treated as such. But of course we still have the mystery of the clothes and why 10 and 14 look so similar, not long until we find out 😊
Much anticipated and not long to go now . I hope it's a real celebration of the show to date and will presumably end setting up the new series . The big difference this time is none of us knows what's going to happen .
Hi Gals, missed you both. I glanced away from the screen when Kat activated her screwdriver, I heard the noise and thought I had changed RUclips feed to something else. Great to have you both back for 23112023 😜😎🏴👌
I thought it was three specials too. Not sure exactly when this was announced but it looks like RTD is bringing back the Christmas special which will serve as the first full adventure for Ncuti Gatwa and presumably Millie Gibson as the new companion Ruby Sunday. Love all of that. It's so close! Only 2 weeks till the first special. I'm really looking forward to sharing that experience with you from here in Australia.
I couldn't imagine Donna dying. Here's the thing, the DoctorDonna is about as strong as Sarah Jane and the Doctor. It would be criminal to kill off one of the strongest, if not THE strongest companion duo that has ever been in Doctor Who. Also I want that new Sonic Screwdriver and I'm so gotdamn mad I didn't get the special edition version.
The key thing I’m curious about Donna is, at the end of the episode “The End of Time pt2” the 10th Doctor gave Donna a winning lottery ticket as a wedding gift, he brought with a Pound he got from her father. I wonder how it’ll show Donna and the Noble’ being millionaires or if that’ll be glossed over.
Wasn't necessarily a jackpot winning ticket. Could just have been enough to have her set up in a decent house. Less timey wimey laws being broken that way.
I'm so excited about the specials and the upcoming series. I just love Doctor Who! And also Essen ist just a 18 minute Train ride from my home town. Hope you had fun at the Spiel 😀
So looking forward to the specials and your reactions to them; there is actually an extra mini-sode scehduled for November 17th as part of the Children in Need charity night on BBC1, so I hope you get to see that too
If you're gonna say the self-regen = the 11th Doctor, then you need to adjust all the later numbers... Matt Smith is 12th, Peter Capaldi is 13th, Jodi Whitaker is 14th, Tennant is 15th, Ncuti Gatwa is 16th...
David Tennant sounding old...interesting. Could that have been a deliberate choice? The Doctor ages. Then regenerates. So they're never the age of The Doctor proper. They just look the relative human age of the body they regenerate into. Tennant is playing 14. Not 10. Again. So how much older is 14 supposed to be? I've been watching 'Quantum Leap' lately so time travel and the mechanics of time travel are on my mind. You know what it could be? Maybe...I'm just overthinking something that will probably have no impact on the story itself based on a throwaway comment from Paula? That definitely sounds plausible. I'm going with that theory till I hear otherwise.
Meanwhile I am proud to say I have now seen 9 episodes of Dr Who…Im currently still going through the Hartnell era. The only other Dr Who related thing I’ve watched was the first episode of Torchwood which was kind of confusing because I hadn’t started watching Dr Who at the time but love the actor who played Merlyn the Dark Archer on Arrow 😆
I know ya'll have watched Earthshock..... I personally hated when RTD started Army of Ghosts with Rose saying "This was the day that I died", and then - she didn't die. And then Donna - didn't die... And then we had bloody unkillably Rory! I think for a companion to die - it's a generation defining moment... Adric was the ONLY companion (who lasted more than 6 episodes in the TARDIS) who died in the original 26 year run of WHO. Tasha Yar said she didn't like the idea of her death being meaningless... Well - if a companion died saving the Universe... (which is the kind of scale that WHO tends to work on now) I think that would be epic, and I think Modern Who has the ability to show the lasting impact such a death would have on the Doctor - unlike in the case of Adric, when we had 1 reference to him in the following story, and that was it. He was never mentioned again (til the 5th Doctor's final breath... oh and now Power of the Doctor... Oh Adric...) SO - With regard to Donna..... I agree with Paula. I think Donna was given her extra lease on life... and if she dies saving the world, with her amazing abilities returned... that would be amazing, and of course - heartbreaking. But for her to lose her memories again... especially after End of Time... I just - actually, I think that's absolutely what RTD will do...
Donna was my favourite companion in the whole series. I really hope she's gonna be ok. Also, I know the actress playing her daughter from Heartstopper and I can't wait to see what she brings to Who.
FWIW, when a U. S. president is re-elected sequentially from term to term, they retain the same ordinal number (e.g., Franklin Roosevelt was the 32nd president for all of his 3.2 terms). BUT when Grover Cleveland was re-elected NON-sequentially (won in 1884, lost in 1888, won in 1892), he was designated BOTH the 22nd and the 24th president.
From the Doctors point of view it's been over 1000 years since he left Donna. Maybe he figured out away to bring back her memoriesback without it killing her.
What ever Donna’s fate I can’t see it ending well. Either she regains her memories and for some greater good reason she has to keep them and sacrifice her life. Or she regains them and they figure out a way for her to live with them, but you know people would complain why couldn’t they figure that out before and that it cheapens the original sacrifice. Or the ultimate cop out, she regains them only to lose them again by the end of the 60th.
“How do we fight the human race?” This and the trailer when he pounds on the wall and says “why does it have to be this?” Plus . . . The prophecy from Journeys End that a child of Time Will Die . . . Still hasn’t happened.
I looked through the classic Dr Who stories, finding shorter 4 x 25 min episodes to watch for each doctor. 1 The Time Meddler 2 Tomb of the Cybermen 3 Day of the Daleks 4 Ark in Space Or Pyramids of Mars Or Robots of Death 5 Caves of Androzani 6 Revelation of the Daleks 7 Curse of Fenric Sorry but I couldn't pick my favourite Tom Baker story.
Bill's ending is definitely the most horrible, but Donna's is just so tragic. The Doctor brought out the amazing person she could be, and to regress back to the gossiping, going-nowhere person who doesn't believe in herself is really sad. Martha had the best exit. Chose to walk away a stronger person.
And while Bill went through absolute hell to get there, she at least got a somewhat happy ending being able to travel through the universe with her space-water girlfriend for as long as she likes. Donna was effectively reset to factory settings and didn’t even get anything to soften the blow
I was sick to death of all the New Who companion endings (except Martha), because they seemed to be based on the premise that no one would ever willingly stop travelling with the Doctor. I was really happy when at least a few of Jodie's companions got to, you know, voluntarily lead ordinary, happy lives without tragic misery.
I would love to see you guys react to one of the first 'Whoniverse' offerings - Tale Of The TARDIS. It's classic Who episodes bookended by classic doctors and companions meetings and discussing their memories. It's beautiful stuff.
Regarding Tennant’s voice, I think it’s less due to age, and more that he’s intentionally trying to sound older, as he still sounds like 10 when performing in the Big Finish audios.
Even if Donna does get killed off atleast she'll possibly die a hero and does what she loves doing and gets to remember the Doctor and her travels with him i'd be satisfied with that actually i agree with Paula it would be a nice wrap up for her character because realisticly your never safe when you travel with the Doctor there's always going to be 50% chance out of 100 your not going to survive.
@@darklorddysartYes, Spring 2024, AFAIK . Apparently, they've already started shooting Ncuti's second season, so it seems like production is well ahead of broadcast schedule
You must be so happy the strike is over. Not just for the channel I mean but in general. The AMPTP have been acting like idiots with their strong arm tactics. There's no reason it needed to go on this long. I'm so proud of everyone for staying strong and getting the deal they deserve. A hearty congratulations to everyone!
You guys should check out the original 'Celestial Toymaker' story in the lead-up to this, the first three of four episodes are missing but there's telesnap versions available, plus there's rumours of an animated one in the works, so you might even be able to do it afterwards.
@@PaulaDemingyou might want to check out the special scene Russell t write and David Tennant was in for the Children In Need charity that was shown here last night in UK. Really cool 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎 and so funny might want to check it out as there was a old foe as well.
So this was pre-taped? That's exactly how I would've done it and I seriously hope you guys just finished TNG in one shot, too. Also, "You have a point but fuck you" is both me and my friend Joe and me and my online friend Mike. In other words, the absolute best of friends.
Maybe I am naive but I think (trying to convince myself) that they won't kill Donna just because they're trying to scare us with all these trailer snippets...
technically in "Let's Kill Hitler"....11 did not die but he was OUT of regens...River sacrificed her remaining regens to HEAL him.....then in "Angels Take Manhattan"..11 gave those regens back to River to heal her.....that's why he was not going to regen in "Time of the Doctor"....he needed the Time Lords to grant him a new cycle.....so what happened in "Let's Kill Hitler" was not a regen back into himself...it was not like what 10 did in "Journey's End"
I forget where you (Gallifrey Gals) left off with Classic Who, but Donna's fate is not unique. This IS a new Doctor (according to RTD), so even though he looks very much like 10 and is played by the same actor, try not to get stuck in your thinking that "The 10th Doctor wouldn't say/do that", we have to treat him as someone familiar but different.
wonder if it will be a spacey wacey episode ????... i have been a fan of doctor who since Jon Pertwee played him.. but i still think my favorite doctor was tom baker.
So my question is, is this your third edit of your reaction? I have seen two othet reactions, both were brilliant, i follow your channel and your Doctor Who reactions are fantastic, but i wonder why the edits? ❤❤
I absolutely loved Bill. Moffat gave the first openly queer companion the absolute WORST fate. I mean what the actual hell. Donna's daughter Rose is played by the extremely talented Yasmin Finney, she's gorgeous, look her work up.
... I'm out of things to say at this point. We watched the whole thing. We reacted in real time like everyone else does. If it's not for you, then no worries, bud. - Kat
@hagridmary there's really nothing constructive about this comment at all. We literally got the whole trailer. We watched it. It happened. We gave our genuine reactions, and we're not changing how we go about that.
@@KatAlysha If I were you and saw a comment like the one I posted, I would move forward with the knowledge that perhaps in future reactions your audiences would appreciate if you just soak in the scenes and let your faces do the reacting, rather than feeling the need to add a comment over every little thing. Better to save any significant commentary for the end of the reaction.
@denmaroca2584 yes however the metacrisis doctor only got the human part of the deal, Donna however still has the timelord stuff in her as shown when the master tried to attack her!
@@KatAlyshaNo, I am sure I saw your great reaction on your channel. You know, "gremlins" "is that the master?" Something going wibbly wobbly timey winney here?
The trailer looks good but I'm still not a fan of Tennant being 14. They could have brought him back in a million other ways and still be 10. But then that's RTD for you. Can't have him back without something dumb/silly.
I really hope they bring Jenny back in this. It'll be like the only chance if they ever use her character to be able to interact with 10/14 and donna. Don't make the same mistake Star Wars ep 7 did with not having content with all 3 major characters being together. They could even give Jenny a spin off series in my opinion with a spark like that.
I have heard zero talk about her returning, or if she's doing much acting anymore. It seems she's become a stay-at-home mom while David does most of the acting. Her mom seems to have stopped acting much after she became a mom as well.
@@Skeezer66 :/ That's unfortunate. Dr Who does play things close to the chest though when it comes to surprises. Just a small cameo would be great but I won't keep my hopes up lol
@@Skeezer66She's been in a few things. The Horne Section, quite recently. Just looking at TV outside of Staged and its associated things I don't know if she'd to back to on-screen DW, though, mainly as I don't think the writers have much interest in bringing her back tbh
I do wonder why you waited until the SAG strike was over to post this as this isn't a struck project. Doctor Who is filmed under an Equity contract and not SAG-Aftra so isn't affected by the strike.
After speaking with SAG-AFTRA directly, we received confirmation that Doctor Who was produced under a struck Television Agreement. So, by us promoting it, it was considered crossing the line. But we're happy to be back now!
The way the comedian plays Donna I really dont like and always feel like she is not in same show, but a sitcom or just the wrong vibe. I could not watch any of the other series becase of it. Just jarring so am looking forward to the new series

I would love to see you guys react to one of the first 'Whoniverse' offerings - Tale Of The TARDIS. It's classic Who episodes bookended by classic doctors and companions meetings and discussing their memories. It's beautiful stuff.
As they are in the middle of a Classic Who reaction series, those will have to wait until after they've seen those Doctors / companions.
Hope you've watched all the short specials available online with past doctors and companions
They're doing Classic Who reactions as well, so they will probably skip most of the shorts until they've finished each era.
Three 60th anniversary specials, but also a new episode on Christmas Day
And I believe the new season will start shortly after that!
@@darklorddysartYes, Spring 2024, AFAIK . Apparently, they've already started shooting Ncuti's second season, so it seems like production is well ahead of broadcast schedule
Thank God it's back on Christmas.
I agree with Paula, I'm okay with her dying if she remembers the Doctor. It's full circle.
If you enjoy a bit of Tennant, check out Staged from the BBC with David Tennant and Michael Sheen as themselves, sort of. It's good to be back.
The Timelords wiped Zoe and Jamie's memories too
Another quality strikeless cat video!
I love their hair.
Thank you!!! 🥰🖤🤘🏼
I hope You continue with TNG. 🖖
We would never turn our backs! TNG will start back up next week!
@@KatAlysha🥰👍
hi i was wondering if you've done or will do a reaction to Staged with David Tennant and Michael Sheen ?
You guys should check out the original 'Celestial Toymaker' story in the lead-up to this, the first three of four episodes are missing but there's telesnap versions available, plus there's rumours of an animated one in the works, so you might even be able to do it afterwards.
that's an interesting idea!
Yeah 3 but followed a couple weeks later by a Christmas special so that might be why you thought it was 4
So this was pre-taped? That's exactly how I would've done it and I seriously hope you guys just finished TNG in one shot, too. Also, "You have a point but fuck you" is both me and my friend Joe and me and my online friend Mike. In other words, the absolute best of friends.
YAAAAAAAY
Oh cool, Wasn't expecting this
Doctor Who And His Powerful Groin TBC 🤔
Maybe I am naive but I think (trying to convince myself) that they won't kill Donna just because they're trying to scare us with all these trailer snippets...
New GG vid, and its not Red Dwarf.
But wathing the DW trailer? Its still good.
technically in "Let's Kill Hitler"....11 did not die but he was OUT of regens...River sacrificed her remaining regens to HEAL him.....then in "Angels Take Manhattan"..11 gave those regens back to River to heal her.....that's why he was not going to regen in "Time of the Doctor"....he needed the Time Lords to grant him a new cycle.....so what happened in "Let's Kill Hitler" was not a regen back into himself...it was not like what 10 did in "Journey's End"
Kat wears a bowtie now...
Meep meep!
Since the strike is over, are you gals getting back into Star Trek?
The plan is to start again next week.
wonder if it will be a spacey wacey episode ????... i have been a fan of doctor who since Jon Pertwee played him.. but i still think my favorite doctor was tom baker.
So my question is, is this your third edit of your reaction? I have seen two othet reactions, both were brilliant, i follow your channel and your Doctor Who reactions are fantastic, but i wonder why the edits? ❤❤
25th November 2nd December 9th December
Might be a deliberately adjusted accent because he's not number 10, but willy wobbly etc
*Willy* wobbly? Is Barrowman back?
Made me laugh haha, thank you.
Don't you all do st:tng anymore?
Reactions are starting again next week. It was paused due to the actors strike.
Doctor Doogie!!
"Davies" is just pronounced "Davis" btw
I absolutely loved Bill. Moffat gave the first openly queer companion the absolute WORST fate. I mean what the actual hell.
Donna's daughter Rose is played by the extremely talented Yasmin Finney, she's gorgeous, look her work up.
put down your signs!
Davies is pronounced like Davis...
Really liked how you shouted over the whole trailer and missed the majority of the dialogue.
Glad you liked! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
... I'm out of things to say at this point. We watched the whole thing. We reacted in real time like everyone else does. If it's not for you, then no worries, bud. - Kat
@@GallifreyGals Just view it as constructive criticism, if anything.
I would argue that Katarina, Sara, and Bill had the most horrible.
And Adric!!
@@Skeezer66, I consider Adric’s situation more tragic than horrible.
@@UnderhillKoufax Considering he died in the explosion that killed all the dinosaurs, that's horrible enough for me, lol!
Will we be getting more Steven Universe? Meep?
Yes, it should be back next week.
@@firefly24601 yay! I totally get it but MAN I’ve missed those reactions
Just to put it out there but if Donna is technically half Time Lord then surely Donna's daughter Rose is like River and can also regenerate!???
"Surely" is a bit strong. The metacrisis Doctor couldn't regenerate and Donna's daughter, unlike River, wasn't conceived on the Tardis.
@denmaroca2584 yes however the metacrisis doctor only got the human part of the deal, Donna however still has the timelord stuff in her as shown when the master tried to attack her!
I saw a different reaction to this. Have you deleted it?
You might have seen our cut down version that was posted as a RUclips short!
They also watched the very first trailer that was released right after Power of the Doctor!
No, I am sure I saw your great reaction on your channel. You know, "gremlins" "is that the master?" Something going wibbly wobbly timey winney here?
@@KatAlyshaNo, I am sure I saw your great reaction on your channel. You know, "gremlins" "is that the master?" Something going wibbly wobbly timey winney here?
Who hoo... 😂
WHY are you crying - literally why? 😂
First!!!
Just looking at TV outside of Staged and its associated things
I don't know if she'd to back to on-screen DW, though, mainly as I don't think the writers have much interest in bringing her back tbh
I'm pretty sure the Bad Wolf/Sony link and the Disney connection makes it part of struck content now ? Something like that
David did a whole comic con panel only talking about theater, audio books, and a BBC production, Staged.
The way the comedian plays Donna I really dont like and always feel like she is not in same show, but a sitcom or just the wrong vibe. I could not watch any of the other series becase of it. Just jarring so am looking forward to the new series
