    Great to see that country is still pristine. 40 years ago I was lucky enough to paddle and camp along all 5 of the rivers that originate in this watershed. Back in those days there were very few marked portages, so it was lots of bushwacking like you had to do.

    I was out grinding through the Tobeatic while this was published this week. I went from Sporting Lake stream, down through Buckshot Lake, up to Cofan cabin, then down the Shelburne to Irving Lake. We portaged over to the Roseway watershed and took out at McGill Lake access point. What a trip. We noticed your comments in the Cofan log book from your fall trip there. That first leg of our trip before Cofan was BRUTAL - great paddling scenery but the portages were so challenging.

    A bowline is intended to be easy to "break" by flipping the back of the knot. But it is also prone to coming undone if you do not maintain constant pressure on it.

    Good insight on the trout population. I see the same issue with low ph waters due to acid rain in West Virginia as well. The liming has had a great impact there as well and I'm hopeful the trout will make a comeback in Nova Scotia as well.

    love this. thank you. x the names are so evocative 'upset falls' every name has a story still. I love that that cabin was in such great condition - and so nicely built - the kitchen, and a bedroom. it is so fantastic that they're anarchic - as in social anarchy - people just. being good. I will never get to do this, for all sorts of reasons, so just having this is amazing. I do have birds I love in my garden tho - but in London, UK, so seeing a chickadee is sooo fantastic - they're insanely CUTE!!! just awwwwwww

    ...and you are doing this all alone? Real adventure(r). I live in a very tamed, almost crowded environment, there are not these possibilities to go outdoors the way you do without meeting anyone or without roads, used walkways and such. There is rearly something, that was not altered by humans... rivers? Boring unnatural corrected bodies of flowing water, with boats on it...

    Hi Noah, I have been trying to reach out for your opinion.
    I want to buy an Esquif canoe for tripping; 75% white water Class I to class III, and 25% flat water such as the Okefenokee swamp. I am trying to decide between the Prospecteur 17 and the Canyon. I know the Canyon would hold an edge on moving waters, but I am wondering how exhausting the Canyon would be to paddle on the flat-water... If you could only have one boat for the 75%/25% I described, which one would you choose?
    How does the Canyon and the Prospecteur 17 compare in primary & secondary stabilty?

    • @NorthernScavenger
      @NorthernScavenger  4 месяца назад +1

      If there is more than 30% technical river, I choose the Canyon. It's tougher to paddle in flat water but I've gotten use to it and love it in the whitewater
