  • The Coastal Taipan is probably Australia’ s largest and potentially most deadly snake. The Inland Taipan is the worlds most venomous. They live in very different environments and most people have never encountered them. In this show, Barefoot Bushman, Rob Bredl teams up with John (Robo) Robinson to give us a close look at just what makes Taipans tick. They take us on adventurous journey from the coast to far west of Queensland to show us why they are so special.

Awesome footage. This bloke Robbo is a beast, surviving the taipan envenomation without an antivenin. I wonder why he knocked it back.

He is referred to as Robby and then moments later John… so I’m unsure of his name, but probably the sheer size of that guys limbs saved him, plus the pressure bandage he got immediately on the arm. Dude is built like a brick shit house!

His name is John Robinson, Robbo being his nickname.

Why did Robbo knock back the anti-venom? Seems like a weird gamble to take with your life.

In 1982 herpetologist Peter Mirtschin was bitten by his 3 week old pet Inland taipan and became the first person to be specifically treated with CSL TAIPAN monovalent antivenin successfully. The same Peter Mirtschin is in the video I presume ?

@@richardhincemon it has been the Western Desert Taipan for a while now, the change was made to reflecy the most commonly found locality. I have been told, but not seen, the latest ranking went to 3rd most venomous.
Happy to learn though, we do that by contributing to the knowledge base.
