Everyone complaining about the price of under $800 have obviously not used quality tripods before. Good-quality Manfrotto sets can run you over $1,000.
Spend your money on what is in front of the lens. In the cinema, nobody sees what is behind the lens. I made myself a bean-bag. Does the job beautifully. Better focus on the quality of your script, hehe.
Hey guys... thanks for the 50 subs from just commenting on a video. You guys helped me reach 1800 subs!! :) I love the film riot community! Keep on subbing ;)
FYI you can get the Benro BV4 kit (BV4 head + a 75mm version of the legs shown here) for $450 currently (Dec 2018). As far as I can tell, the only difference is that the BV10 head has a 100mm bowl, a slightly different counterbalance knob, and much larger weight capacity of 22lbs (The BV4 has a limit of 8.8lbs)
I use 2 benro ball head stills tripods for my genie timelapse rig and they are excellent. My sachtler DA150 baby legs are an essential and used on almost every shoot in combination with my cine saddle. Nice to see these covered!
People, GEAR IS NOT CHEAP, Filmriot is not a DIY Show. If you're passionate about filmmaking, you're gonna find a way to eventually buy more high end equipment so stop complaining!!
Matthead+ why not? Film riot is a great source to learn about filmmaking. And it's free. Without film riot I would have never even thought about going into film making.
Film Riot I really didn't mean it in a disrespectful way, and I'm truly disappointed in myself for warranting such a negative response from people I look up to, my meaning is simply that this channel, though informative and entertaining, isn't going to make you a professional. I'm working on a MFA at Full Sail and it's a LOT of work and money. I work full time for $12 an hour, and if I worked for a year, tax free, and didn't have to pay for food, rent, utilities, internet, phone, or any kind of entertainment, I still wouldn't have enough money to pay off my MFA, and that still doesn't make me a professional. I wasn't intentionally attacking film riot, I was just saying it's more difficult to enter the industry or thrive in it than watching videos, no matter who they're published by.
I've been doing a bit of research on the Benro BV10 but haven't been able to find much until this video! Been looking for an upgrade for my Ursa Mini and this is the perfect, affordable solution!
I like the feel of these product shots. It looks a lot like LinusTechTips and that's a good thing since they can make a stick of RAM look oh so glorious.
They used it in Ghost House which means that the tripod have to carry an intire rig with a rented Alexa Mini and some glorious glass on it. You wouldn't want some super cheap and badly made tripod for that. But compared what you get for the price, this tripod is great!!!
can you please help me,I am saving for a camera to start filmmaking but I also want to take stills. what's the most choice for about 1000 euros for a used dslr for video and stills? I don't need more than 1080p
Can anyone offer advice, I'm looking for a tripod for a C100 MKII and am unsure about going with this BV 10 or maybe the Manfrotto 504HD head and the legs mentioned in a previous FR video about tripods and LEDs. Thanks very much!
Excuse guys, I have a C300 MkII and I want to know if I can put the camera directly to the plate or do I need an adaptor. Mark II has a very wide bottom. Thanks
I use the benro s4 and s6 systems which go for $250-$300 new, really great tripods for the price. Plus, the after sales support in the philippines is awesome.'
I own the Benro H10 (the model before the BV10) and its' awesome. Hhowever when my kit is fully rigged up it can support the weight but there basically is no more counter balance ability because it's maxed out. I LOVE and prefer the sachtler style touch and go plate system (i use a VCT anyway though). I was gonna upgrade to the Secced Cine Kit 3, as the BV10 isn't even listed on benro's site anymore... is it still being made?
Lately, every time I've been watching a Film Riot video I'm like "How the hell have they not reached 1 million yet?" seriously they're so close I feel like they should have it by now!
Kieransf T, Not sure where Film Riot gets their costumes. But I would advise looking on eBay. They have pretty much everything you would need. If your looking for cheap combat gear just look up airsoft gear. You can get everything from fake bullet proof vests to prop guns. And then you can always search for Halloween costumes on eBay.
Great video as always! I just need to ask, do you still use the c100 much or solely the c300... the reasons for asking is so complicated I just must know! Thanks!
This review could have been better had you showed more clips of how smooth the head is. Having had an expensive head stolen recently. I have to get another one, and am stuck w a Manfrotto. And it is so horrible Bcz when panning it is not smooth and has a rolling speed type of motion that looks like the picture is being “operated”. And it should just feel like the frame is simply moving. This is where the value of a good head is worth it. Even a simple shot w a certain level of smooth panning looks so awesome compare to one that doesn’t have the same level of smoothness. Thanks for the review tho
HEY Ryan, how are you? Listen I've been very anxious about the Bloodtober giveaway, but I've heard nothing on it after the announcement. Whatever happened about that?
hey ryan, maybe you could give us a 12 days of film christmas song on the next mondays... Maybe something like this: "On the first day of christmas film riot gave to me, an Arri Alexa Mini. On the second day of christmas film riot have to me..."
For a pro tripod with these features and the weight capacity, that is really low cost. Comparable tripods are $1k and above... Many get into the $2k-$3k range. I've reviewed cheaper tripods on the show before that are great starter systems, but they don't compare in quality/reliability.
Hey guys.. Take a sec. and checkout my zero budget short, "FRIGHT HOUSE" and my experimental piece, "NIGHT SHOTS"... (about #16th and #17th in from newest, respectively) Thanks much, Moses...
What happened to Monday Challenges? Huh Ry? Huh Jo? Disapointed. Jk, you guys are extremely talented, keep it up. But really, MONDAY CHALLENGE! You promised to bring it back in Novemeber, It's December.
There's the Ravelli AVTP if you're on a budget. It doesn't have that nice adjustable drag wheel, only tighten or loosen. The tripod head is also much smaller and is able to handle less weigh. But it does have twist locks, a similar leg structure, and padded or spiked feet. It runs ~$160 instead of ~$800. You get what you pay for, but with low budget everything else a $160 tripod is plenty for me.
I bet when you started a $800 tripod wasn't "decently priced", nor is it for a weekend warrior/hobbiest. Just my 2 little cents. They are all I have apparently. But you can have them. Sniff, sniff.
$800 is a reasonable price for a good set of sticks. If you want something cheaper, go do some research. Ryan isn't here to spoon feed you. Benro makes several cinema tripods for well under $400.
I am deeply disappointed in you guys. I came here specifically to see a baby using a c300 on a high hat, however there was a complete lack of babies in this video....
Everyone complaining about the price of under $800 have obviously not used quality tripods before. Good-quality Manfrotto sets can run you over $1,000.
Exactly!
S&S Pictures Manfrotto and quality should not be used in the same sentence 😂😂
if you like to spend hell a lot of money, just buy a Sachtler Tripod :D
Spend your money on what is in front of the lens.
In the cinema, nobody sees what is behind the lens. I made myself a bean-bag. Does the job beautifully.
Better focus on the quality of your script, hehe.
***** - Every piece of equipment should be treated the same. Why get an expensive camera with expensive lenses and buy a cheap $100 tripod?
Hey guys... thanks for the 50 subs from just commenting on a video. You guys helped me reach 1800 subs!! :) I love the film riot community! Keep on subbing ;)
Thanks bro, Your channel is awesome! I subbed back!
Congrats man! Isn't great when people go out of their way to help smaller youtubers pick up momentum!! It really means a lot!
Truth, I'll hit you up with a sub too!! :)

The little mini tripod is what sells this. Looks like it would be adorably useful.
People, GEAR IS NOT CHEAP, Filmriot is not a DIY Show.
If you're passionate about filmmaking, you're gonna find a way to eventually buy more high end equipment so stop complaining!!
Edy Recendez If you're passionate about filmmaking, you're not learning from film riot, just saying...
Matthead+, that comment is very arrogant and insulting to our viewers... And you couldn't be more wrong.
Matthead+ if you don't come here to learn, then what are you doing here? Just came to "waste" your time and insult people or what?
Matthead+ why not? Film riot is a great source to learn about filmmaking. And it's free. Without film riot I would have never even thought about going into film making.

need a video on how u made the virtual studio which u stand in front of all the time!
I've been doing a bit of research on the Benro BV10 but haven't been able to find much until this video! Been looking for an upgrade for my Ursa Mini and this is the perfect, affordable solution!
Film Riot reviewing drums?- ohhh....
I love the bokeh holiday lighting in the background~ so cute! It warms my soul.
i think he loves the look philip bloom gets
that connolly is a real bloom head
+FilmRiot could you do a segment about the counterbalance system on tripods and what it's used for? Thanks
Nice review Ryan. The price is fair for what it offers. I'm impressed with locking system too!
I expected to check the price and see that it was $1,500 when it's only $800 😬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yeah I was surprised by the price vs quality too. I was also expecting over $1k.
What's the difference if I get a GorillaPod instead of this? It looks like I can do the exact same stuff with it and I could save some money.
You guys are making awesome videos! I donno why you aren't getting that level of hype? Very underrated channel!
Thanks man!
because its nothing but ads.
nice, I have 3 Benro tripods, really like them
I like the feel of these product shots. It looks a lot like LinusTechTips and that's a good thing since they can make a stick of RAM look oh so glorious.

Hey Ryan,
Can you show us how to make film snow PLEASE???
Ryan there was this website that you can make light tests on,, can u please mention it ?
I have a problem in importing action essential 2 in my after effects cc2015. It says file is damaged or unsupported. please help.
Awesome tipods, thanks for the tips
It would be interesting to know how you think these compare to the manfrotto equivalents?
Love the Benro stuff.
can you please help me,I am saving for a camera to start filmmaking but I also want to take stills. what's the most choice for about 1000 euros for a used dslr for video and stills? I don't need more than 1080p
For a gear head episode can you cover matte boxes. What to look for in a matte box. Good value ones and also more expensive ones. Thx!!
Ryan It would be awesome if you showed the production side of filming in extreme weather/conditions and scenarios.
When I shoot short films, what is most efficient: Have the camera running all the takes, or record one take and delete it if it's not good?
All the takes! Always all the takes! That way you can pick and choose in the edit.
How do you get the rubber foot pads off? I can't for the life of me pull the rubber strap off.
Can anyone offer advice, I'm looking for a tripod for a C100 MKII and am unsure about going with this BV 10 or maybe the Manfrotto 504HD head and the legs mentioned in a previous FR video about tripods and LEDs. Thanks very much!

Guys, was Emily on this years RUclips Rewind at 1:03?
Great video. I'll definitely check this tripod out!
I use the benro s4 and s6 systems which go for $250-$300 new, really great tripods for the price. Plus, the after sales support in the philippines is awesome.'
How do I make a cheap rail-moving camera?
Ryan, we're wearing the same shirt. Thought you ought to know. You look great.
I own the Benro H10 (the model before the BV10) and its' awesome. I hate you
Joe Walters lmao thanks Joe! ❤❤😍😘
Why aren't there any affordable geared head tripods
They are very expensive to make.
Dawson Boyle there is very nice and afordable tripod they review on there "Tripods and Leds" episode, I personably use the Adroma.
He's talking about gear heads. Those are higher end heads that are industry standard at a Hollywood level.
Film Riot right! Also they have a smoother more organic look as well as are very accurate with your pans and tilts
What about FIlm City?

Lately, every time I've been watching a Film Riot video I'm like "How the hell have they not reached 1 million yet?" seriously they're so close I feel like they should have it by now!
Where is JOSH??!!! This episode is incomplete without him.
Duh, behind the camera... (Or Ryan killed him again) :P
always the best content
are you doing filmmakers Christmas list this year ?
Yep! Working on it right now actually.
Film Riot awesome !
Love that intro
please where do you get your good and cheap costumes
Kieransf T, Not sure where Film Riot gets their costumes. But I would advise looking on eBay. They have pretty much everything you would need. Great video as always! I just need to ask, do you still use the c100 much or solely the c300... the reasons for asking is so complicated I just must know! Thanks!
Do you make WOLVERINE HEALING EFFECT?
Out of my budget so I went with one of their video monopods. Extremely happy with it! $200
I just got a FM18 with dolly kit for $200. Virtually the same as that one minus a few of the features
we can use this tripod to dslr mount
Hey how's it going. I'm making a short war film. I was wonder how I could do a intro like the modern warfare campaign intros. Thanks
This review could have been better had you showed more clips of how smooth the head is. Having had an expensive head stolen recently. I have to get another one, and am stuck w a Manfrotto. Working on VFX Will be Awesome If you have a nice Footage shot with a Diy/Tripod/Monopod!
HEY Ryan, how are you? Listen I've been very anxious about the Bloodtober giveaway, but I've heard nothing on it after the announcement. Whatever happened about that?
+Vatsal Sethi We announced the winner on the dates and times we said we would. We sent that out through twitter, Facebook and mailing list.
Okay, guess I didn't win then. Anyway, keep up the great work. Cheers.
Where dem Monday challenges at gurl?
who won that Giveaway with all that cool stuff.
Today we take a closer look at the "Beno" tripod and hi-hat we used for our latest short films. Beno tripod? wtf is beno? lol :)
didn't watch the whole thing.what's the price ?
hey ryan, maybe you could give us a 12 days of film christmas song on the next mondays... Maybe something like this:
"On the first day of christmas film riot gave to me, an Arri Alexa Mini.
On the second day of christmas film riot have to me..."
I think its kind of funny how Full sail sponsors them because all these online channels are Kind of killing Film school...
we want our funny ryan back
Soooo....when do we get a new challenge? :D
That, my friend, is a good question
is Ryan getting grey hair?
FYI, the decently priced tripod is $800.
For a pro tripod with these features and the weight capacity, that is really low cost. Comparable tripods are $1k and above... Many get into the $2k-$3k range. I've reviewed cheaper tripods on the show before that are great starter systems, but they don't compare in quality/reliability.
I was just kidding haha. I completely agree with your opinion on the tripod. Would love to get my hands on one in the future.
No worries. :)
FYI Heads in the industry can be $20,000 or more and thats not even with sticks.
Even my camera isn't worth 800 anymore lol
where's Josh?
HOLY CRAP, what happened to all your views Film Riot?! Is this because of RUclipss new trending/recommended algorithms?
I tought you're reviewing drums xD
nice
Hey guys.. Take a sec. and checkout my zero budget short, "FRIGHT HOUSE" and my experimental piece, "NIGHT SHOTS"...
(about #16th and #17th in from newest, respectively) Thanks much, Moses...
Benro is spelt wrong in the description... but that's none of my business
What happened to Monday Challenges? Huh Ry? Huh Jo? Disapointed. Jk, you guys are extremely talented, keep it up. But really, MONDAY CHALLENGE! You promised to bring it back in Novemeber, It's December.
but ryan its 799$ :(
Pro tripods aren't cheap. This one is well priced in comparison to other brands of similar quality.
You get what Ryan gets paid for =)

Watching these shows make me feel really bad about my budget xD
I started with $0 and on;y borrowed or consumer gear. Even if you can't buy it yet, it's good to get a feel of the market for when you get there.
I bet when you started a $800 tripod wasn't "decently priced", nor is it for a weekend warrior/hobbiest. Just my 2 little cents. They are all I have apparently. But you can have them. Sniff, sniff.
+GeorgeGraves This is a pro tripod for mid-level filmmaking. Never said it was a starter. I did an episode on cheap starter tripods last year.
lmao when he said it's "decently priced"
Much better price than manfrotto or sachler
Spread dem legggz!!!
really
Hi
Hi ryan
First! love your videos :D
$800 is a reasonable price for a good set of sticks. If you want something cheaper, go do some research. Ryan isn't here to spoon feed you. Benro makes several cinema tripods for well under $400.
I also have a soft spot for Sachtler.
idurif
this is expensive
Counter-point: No, it's not.
depends on your budget and what you expect out of your gear. For the entry level, you should find entry level gear. There are LOADS of cheaper (
I am deeply disappointed in you guys.
I came here specifically to see a baby using a c300 on a high hat, however there was a complete lack of babies in this video....
You are right. I am shamed.
