This is an amazing insight! I'm planning to do Art & Animation in college which will be a mix of 2D and 3D art and once I've done 2 years I'll be able to go into 3rd year of University and I'll focus on 3D Environment art because I really want to do that. So thank you!
This is so informational!! Thank you! As someone who is interested into going into technical art and is a sponge for information, I love how much you cover and how to best break it down. I have a direction in which way to take my portfolio. How did you do the bridge tool by the way? It starts around 17:26.
Wil you ever create a Tech Art know how/how to playlist? Is it possible to teach beginners ? Where to begin if we want to start making tools for artists on game engines? Where do I begin?
Thanks for the comment, we do already have 2 other workshops on these topics, but no specific playlist yet :D On Houdini ruclips.net/video/8R7JX-TFBfg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/jZFGUkIOdx0/видео.html On Unreal Engine ruclips.net/video/dJCjz6_AV0g/видео.html Thanks for the reply! - Timothy
What are you building this pond in? I made a pond in blender for an AR project, but working with the glb constraints is very difficult to make it look good.
Like the most horrible thing is getting job by recommendation, everyone says to make connections, I am extreme introvert , I do not want connections, I want a job :(
You can't make big games alone. Introvert or not, communicating with your team to coordinate work is necessary for success. You either need to force yourself to adapt, or if you have a spare decade, you can learn to make the whole thing by yourself
You don't NEED a recommendation to get a job, if you are good, you will get the job. But if you want to go up the ranks, you'll need to be a team player too
It is super cool seeing acurate fish and aquatic plants. your art is very inspiring!
Watching this live and participating in the Q&A afterwards was great!!
That's awesome, thanks Jack!
“Your portfolio is as strong as your weakest piece ”
Hooray, Thank you Nina & Tim!

Do you mind if I ask do you have to work with HLSL or GLSL in your role as a technical artist? I feel like I'm pretty good in most areas except that
Is there a recommended book for environment artists in Unreal Engine?

@@cosmotect communicating within team is no problem, and I think I am very good at it, but making so called connections is not and I hate it
@@Lyco0n that part is not as important, but it does make it easier to get jobs and have more choices
