What so often happens when Protestant theology preaches up sin at the expense of grace it confuses sin with guilt. Forgetting we are not saved from guilt but sin. There is no mention in the gospels that Jesus saves us from guilt but sin. Does Doctor Zhal deal with this fact in his understanding of Martin Luther. I think Martin Luther may of been sceptical of reason like Doctor Zhal says but in my experience reason can take us some way along the road to salvation. Indeed to the gate at the end of the road but what reason cannot do is open that gate. What opena that gate is grace. I am no trained academic but a layperson. But if I was I would remind my fellow Protestants that what's been neglected in our present age is believe in importance not just in an understanding of sin but grace.
