Hogan vs Rock is probably one of the top 5 matches ever at a Mania. The crowd was totally in it and Hogan proved that he was still popular as hell and could still put on a great match.

My only complaint is that WWE has muted the crowd noise on Hogan's intro and consistently dubbs over the NWO theme whenever you watch the event now. Hogan's original entrance with the NWO theme got a major standing ovation. The crowd was 100% behind Hogan in that match.

Wrestling is super over in Canada. Especially Hogan.
When people shit on Bret Hart for saying he was almost as popular as Hogan, they don't realize that Bret got astronomical pops in Canada. And he would get tons of fan mail and such.
I'm from Canada, Bret Hart is a national hero (Bischoff likes to say, all it takes to be a Canadian Hero is to be a celebrity, which isn't true).
Obviously Bret didn't draw as much as Hogan because not every show is held in Canada, but Bret is super over here.

That pop when Hogan kicked out and 'Hulked up' for the first time in WWE for about 10 years, was the biggest pop I've ever seen or heard. It was some sort of double, extended pop. So strange. Almost like a panic or as if something was wrong it was so emotional for fans to see that.

The styles of Rock and Hogan worked well together. They were also similar in height and build. It’s a better visual look. Rock basically had a more athletic Hogan style. Hogan also worked better with men that were his size or bigger. He didn’t really look good fighting smaller men. It looked weird when he wrestled Shawn Michaels. Hogan and Rock are also pop culture icons as well.

    • @blackjack23able
      @blackjack23able 2 года назад +5

@@Matt-cr4vv Hulk Hogan was responsible for both of biggest eras in Wrestling The Rock&Wrestling era of the 80's & early 90's & he also spearheaded the late 90s NWO/Attitude Era. Obviously Stone Cold Steve Austin became massive around that time but you don't get that Stone Cold & The Rock character or the Attitude Era in WWE itself without Hulk Hogan turning heel in WCW. So in that respect Hulk Hogan was the lead in both eras but again I will say I think most fans Allegiance would be with Stone Cold Steve Austin if asked this question but I think that's more of an emotional response then being actual fact. People tend to not like Hulk Hogan for various reasons but I think if your grandmother or grandfather had to name a wrestler they name The Rock or Hulk Hogan.. facts are facts, now again Steve Austin was massive during this time but even in that era The Rock stardom reached a level higher than Steve Austin's and has continued to do so because he's the top star in Hollywood right now, so I think at the end of the day The Rock will go down as the biggest wrestling Superstar name of all time.

The NWO would have been HUGE during the Invasion angle back in 2001. Just imagine it. You have WWF vs WCW and some how the NWO reforms with Hogan, Hall and Nash against The Rock, Austin and Triple H or maybe The Undertaker in a classic feud. It would have taken the Invasion angle to a whole new level. Cause you don't have The NWO against WCW. They're some how would have worked together and if you want add Scott Steiner or The Giant in there and then you have team WWF has Kane or Kurt Angle/Chris Jericho it would have been good for business. It so would have been much better than what we got. Plus Sting and The Undertaker could have feuded and Stone Cold vs Flair or Hogan take your pick. Cause it wouldn't have mattered. So much more could have come from the angle which didn't sadly. Another missed opportunity. Like a lot of missed opportunitis with this company has missed.

    Rock-Hogan at Wrestlemania.
Austin comes down the aisle. Rock is having his way with Hogan.
Rock acknowledges Austin. Austin cheers on the Rock! Rock hits the Rock bottom on Hogan; Rock goes for the pin. Austin says no. Austin calls for the stunner.
The Rock is shocked, surprised that Austin would let him do his finisher on Hogan. Rock hits the stunner, goes for the pin. Austin pulls him off.
Rock gets in Austin’s face, Austin low kicks the Rock and hits the Stunner!
Austin and Hogan dismantle the Rock!
WM fades to black during the beat down!
On Raw: “Why Austin Why?? Why Austin why?”
Austin: i’ll tell you why. For two years...for two years, I’ve been giving blood sweat and tears to the WWF. And for two years the Rock has been making movies in Hollywood.
But the WWF always chooses the Rock over Austin. Rock then Austin; Rock over Austin! Well dammit if the WWF doesn’t want Austin, then Austin doesn’t want the WWF!
So I decided to align myself with the biggest star in the history of professional wrestling. And with Hulk Hogan by my side, with the NWO watching my back, The man Austin, The name Austin will become bigger than professional wrestling just like Hollywood Hulk Hogan.
And While Eric Bischoff was packing meat in a truck, and while the Rock was sleeping on piss-stained mattresses, I was building a career for myself emulating Hulk Hogan. And now, with Hollywood by MY side, we are going to destroy wrestling as you know it. That is:
    WHY AUSTIN WHY?
Hogan takes the mic: Lemme tell you something Stone Cold..... everybody in professional wrestling wishes they were as big a star as Hollywood Hulk Hogan....

What’s sad is that Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard and most people working at the WWE at this time really show the world how big of a mark they were. Instead of having the angle of a lifetime they all got real petty and decided to just ruin the NWL and after they fired hall and Nash‘s contract was up they couldn’t wait to put out DVDs and talk About how those guys couldn’t hang. The one thing they never bring up is when the NWL first came to the WWE it was instantly more over than anything they had on their TV at the time.
