  • Thanks to friends in Delta Air Lines TechOps for pictures showing some of the restoration work on the exterior of the DC-7B (ship 717). Delta took deliver of this aircraft in November of 1957 and sold it in March of 1968. It was owned by several travel clubs before being sold in 1980 to a company that used it to fight forest fires in California and Alaska up until 2000. It had not flown in almost 20 years when it was purchased by the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta. The aircraft took center stage in from of the museum on January 9, 2021. Plans are being formulated to restore the interior.

My Delta days! Delta Air Lines DC-7B, Ship 717 was in service at the Willow Run Airport, Ypsilanti, Michigan when I was a member of the Delta family. I took pictures because this was the best of the Delta fleet as far as I was concerned. I loved flying from Detroit to Miami non-stop on the Golden Crown DC-7B. CruzerToo if you were the pilot
that brought the aircraft back to Atlanta, thank you!

J'aurais adoré être pilote à l'époque des quadri moteurs à pistons. Pilote de brousse en DC 4, la classe, la vrai aventure à la Saint Exupéry.
